Review: I ordered a custom fit Winter Boat Cover. I received it in the middle of the winter and I tried to installed the cover as directed in the installation instructions. First problem was that the instructions referred to was the tie down tabs, which were not installed on my cover. Second problem a cut out for two stanchions were missing. Third problem I installed the cover the best I could with what I had to work with. After several hours in the cold weather, ice and snow, I took pictures to forward to the provider. The cover is to be a tent configuration to shed rain and snow off the boat.

Fourth problem because of poor measuring there was excess material laying on fore deck (not a tent configuration), allowing rain and snow to collect on deck. Without tent, the material leaks water onto the deck. Allowing ice to form on the deck and damaging the deck.

Fifth problem, first phone call was the [redacted] or [redacted] of January, at that time, I was told someone was going to Annapolis and they would stop and show me how to install and remeasure if needed. No one showed up to correct problem. I was gone the month of Feb.. I called at 1330 on ** March 2014 and was told [redacted] was at the Boatyard and they would have him call. NO call.

I called at 1145 on ** March 2014 and I was told [redacted] was not in and they would have him call back in about an hour. NO call.

I called at 1030 on ** April 2014 and was told [redacted] was at the Boatyard and they would have you call. NO call.

I called at 0815 on ** April 2014 I was told by person answering the phone she was just getting in and [redacted] was not there and they would have him call. He finally called me back on ** April 2014 and still blames me for the poor fit.

We sent pictures of the problems in January and March and again later in March. The Canvas Store blames me for my poor installation. Even after I followed their latest instructions, they still blame me. They will not remeasure and I know a person with the same model sailboat has the same problems as mine with his new boat cover from the same provider and has already filed a complaint with Revdex.com.

I can provide pictures to support findings.Desired Settlement: I want it to be measured to and fit in a tent configuration as demoed at the Newport Boat Show. Canvas laying on the deck does not shed water. It simply leaks, holds water and ice on the deck, to the point I might as well not have a cover.

If this can not be done, than I want my money back.

Review: I purchased a winter cover for my boat (34’ Seidelmann sailboat – 1984) in late October 2013 and received the cover in late November. Upon delivery and assembly it was clear that the cover was cut wrong and did not fit my boat as they described it would. For example, when ordering I made it clear that I did not have a split backstay, or side gates. No changes have been made to the boat such as the pulpit or stanchions that would have relocated them not to fit. I was told that they most likely would have to measure the boat before assembling the cover. I sent them pictures of the boat so that they can see any features that might be an issue as well.

The cover was delivered unannounced so I was surprised since I didn't know if they measured the boat. It was obvious that they did not upon fitting the cover since they made it with side gate cut outs, split backstay cut outs, and numerous cut outs that did not line up with my stern & bow pulpits as well as my rail stanchions. Also, the stern access and fitting is not good since there is a single zipper in lieu of the access panel as described when ordering. Due to all these areas mis-cutting of the cover, the cover did not fit well. This caused excess material on the deck and water access under the cover in numerous areas. Also, the material was stressed over the winter due to wrapping around obstructions in an attempt to pull the cover tight. Their fitting instructions and many pictures on their web site do not resemble the fit of my cover.

I left numerous messages to [redacted] of The Canvas Store to inquire about the repair starting in early December. I was always told that although they couldn't believe their pattern did not fit that but they would make me happy. Also, they apologized for not following my pictures and description of the boat since it was obvious they missed them in constructing the cover. They indicated they were busy but going on a break for the holidays in December but would need to re-measure the cover on the boat to ensure the fit. They indicated that they would do this in early January when everyone returned from the Holidays. This was never done.

I left messages in early January and spoke to [redacted] and gave him instructions of when I'll be around and instructions of where the boat was in Atlantic Highlands Municipal Marina in [redacted]. He indicated he would get back to me but never did.

I left messages on the status of the repairs in February and March but have received no responses.Desired Settlement: I would like either a properly fitting cover or a full refund as soon as possible. As [redacted] informed me, he would like to measure the boat with the cover on to see where they went wrong and if the current cover (or sections of) were usable. It is now spring and it's time to take to the cover off. I would like this resolved this spring so it doesn't happen all over again next fall when it's time to cover the boat again. I've tried to be patient.
