The Car Man Of Richmond Reviews (1)

Hello, we are sorry to learn that this very nice [redacted] did not meet the buyers expectations. Why the buyer left us a negative with such an odd worded comment is something I do not understand. This was an unusually nice truck for a 2004 model. If you take a look at all of...

the pictures in the [redacted] listing you will see this particular truck is closer to being more of a show truck than your average run of the mill old Ford. The original price of this truck plus the near $[redacted] in upgrades (lifted suspension, wheels, tires, brush bars, etc.) would have taken this truck to near $[redacted] in 2004! For the buyer to say this is not a nice truck or not as described is simply ridiculous.     The buyer purchased this truck several weeks ago for just under $[redacted] and we assisted him in arranging transport from our dealership in [redacted] to his residence in [redacted] The transaction was completed without any issues and the transport of this truck (nearly 2,700 miles) was also completed without issue. We did not hear from the customer again (no news in good news, right?) after the truck was delivered. Then out of the blue the buyer left us a negative feedback because the truck overheated 3 days after he started driving it? How in the world is that our fault or something we can control? Even though it is a very nice truck it is still 13-14 years old, it is not new, and its original Ford factory warranty has long since expired as well. (Ebay has become very strange over the past year or two where anytime something doesn't go exactly the way the buyer wants they of course blame the seller and naturally leave us negative feedback as some sort of "punishment".)     But more than that....I highly doubt this truck truly overheated, these Ford F-Series trucks are extremely well built with "heavy duty" everything. Now he does live in [redacted] where it is routinely over 100 degrees by lunchtime on many days so it is possible he saw the temperature gauge needle move past the half way mark. For some reason everybody regardless of the type of vehicle they own thinks if the needle moves past the half way mark that the vehicle is "overheating or running hot". That is not the case, anywhere the needle is in the gauge that is not in the very end "red zone" is still normal. Even the owners manual of any vehicle will tell you this. Again it is a used vehicle, perhaps the coolant level was a bit low, or maybe the truck was being used in aggressive manner like climbing or towing a heavy load. All perfectly normal use for a Ford truck, but you may need to run a different mixture of coolant & water depending on individual climate & expected use.      As a regular & long time seller of motor vehicles on [redacted] motors and a full time licensed used car dealer here in [redacted] since 1973 (44 years) we have our own service shop where every vehicle is serviced & safety checked. Also all vehicles including this one come with a new Virginia state safety inspection completed by an outside 3rd party service shop controlled & overseen by the [redacted] This truck passed as is evident by the "ugly yellow sticker" in the middle of the windshield. In summary I think it is unfair for a buyer to claim a used motor vehicle is not as described because he might have had a mechanical issue on the 3rd day he drove it. We are not a Ford dealer nor did we charge him $[redacted] like a new truck from a Ford dealer. We sell used vehicles, most at least 10 years old, and like ANY machine or mechanical item they WILL ALWAYS NEED SERVICE & UPKEEP usually without any prior notice, that is the definition of USED. We even go over all of this in our rules & regulation section on EVERY vehicle we list on [redacted]. But somehow there are always those people who never understand that a used vehicle is used, you dont get a new one for $[redacted]. Thank You,Neil M[redacted]The Car Man Co, LLC
