The Car Store of Sac Reviews (3)

Review: I bought a 2000 Honda Accord back on 2/16/2013. It was sitting on the lot with a broken windshield so I was able to pick it up on the 8th after the windshield was replaced. On Tuesday someone at work pointed out my tires, which, were bald. I contacted him on the 19th of February and he set up an appointment for me to have those tires replaced on Saturday, February 23rd at The Tire Dealer on Garden Hwy in Yuba City, CA. I bought extended warranty on the car since it was a used car and close to 150,000 miles. I started having problems with the car on 3/5/2013 and called him on his cell right away. He said he had never had problems with the car, but not to worry because he would take care of it with the warranty if it got worse. To keep an eye on it and let him know if we needed to submit it through. He did emphasize that I should not call the warranty place directly and that I should go through his shop because that would benefit waiving my deductible. The same day that I picked up my car I dropped off my 2002 Honda Odyssey to have him diagnose since that check engine light was on and I was having mechanical problems. I sent multiple text messages and left several voicemails requesting an update on the van, but never heard back. On March 7 I called and told him I was picking up that van because I had prospective buyer. He asked me to sell it to him and that he would pay me the following week, at this point he gave me an update and said that he had only gotten a quote on the body work, but nothing on the mechanical problems. I agreed to sell him the car. On March 14th I sent a follow up text on the van, but again he never responded. At this point I felt something wasn't right.I called AUL which was the original warranty he had provided and I was told it was not a valid contract. I was very upset and decided to go get my van back. He would not answer my calls. I called the lot and spoke to his secretary and she assured me that my van would be there at 1 for pick up. I texted him on the 4/2 to give him enough notice. On Saturday 4/6 I showed up at [redacted] on [redacted] Sacramento and his dealership was no longer there. I called the car lot phone number and was told that they had moved to Auburn Blvd and that [redacted] had my van and he didn't know when he was going to be there. I was very upset and told him I was on my way and expected my van to be there when I arrived. At arrival I noticed my van was parked under a car port towards the back. When I went into the office and spoke to the guy there he stated that John was not there yet and that my van was not there. I got very upset and told I had seen my van and noticed the keys on the desk. I reached over and grabbed them, walked out and got in my van. As I was walking he was following me with the phone saying [redacted] wanted to talk to me. When I confronted him about the invalid warranty his response was that the computers had crashed, therefore, things weren't submitted properly, but that he would have a new contract for me with 2 extra months due to the error. I literally had to steal my own van because he would not let me take it.On 4/22/2013 in the morning I received a call from [redacted]. She explained that my DMV paperwork had not been submitted and that my car needed to get smogged. She wanted me to drop everything I was doing to go get it done, but I refused since I was at work. I explained I could get it done after work or on a Saturday, but she was pushing on immediately. I refused and got upset, it was not my problem that they couldn't follow the law and that they were on a deadline. I once again complained about my warranty and told them again that the car was having problems. At 2:42pm the same day I was left a voicemail where [redacted] states that she was outside my work with my warranty paperwork and that she would take my car to get smogged at [redacted] on Lincoln Blvd. The new warranty agreement I received was with ASC. I verified that it was a valid policy, which at the time it was. On May 10th my car's check engine light came on and started flashing. I was told to not drive it since it's a serious problem when the light flashes. That same afternoon I called the warranty and explained my situation and they advised me to have it diagnosed and went over my coverage. Due to financial struggle I was unable to afford the diagnostics and/or any deductible so waited for payday. On June 5th I took my car to the shop to have diagnosed. June 6th at 11 am I receive the diagnostics and 15-20 min later I call the warranty to authorize repairs, but I was told that the agreement had been cancelled or never finalized, therefore, not valid! The car has engine problems, which I was told were nothing that I could have caused in this timeframe that the car was in my possession. The car was sold damaged! I also noticed the wrong date of purchase on my warranty. I have been a victim of Fraud! I believe this was a fraudulent sale.

Business' Initial Response

"I bought a 2000 Honda Accord back on 2/16/2013. It was sitting on the lot with a broken windshield"

previously that day the vehicle had went on a test drive and had a window chip that spread into a crack therfore we had already scheduled and informed Ms. [redacted] that if she wanted the vehicle we would have to have that repaired prior to her leaving with the car. do I was able to pick it up on the 8th on the 18th not the 8th

"after the windshield was replaced. On Tuesday someone at work pointed out my tires, which, were bald"

The tires were to the state requirments and still had significant tread on them even being so I promised Ms [redacted] that to make sure she is happy I will replace them with 2 used tires the best the Tire Dealer had to make sure she was happy

"I contacted him on the 19th of February and he set up an appointment for me to have those tires replaced on Saturday, February 23rd"

after speaking to Ms [redacted] we immediately called the Tire Dealer and they had the Tires available so we called her back to set up the appointment and Ms [redacted] said that she could not go that day or the following because she worked and Saturday was the only day she could

"at The Tire Dealer on Garden Hwy in Yuba City, CA. I bought extended warranty on the car since it was a used car and close to 150,000 miles. Ms [redacted] did NOT purchase an extended warranty the warranty was an act of good will she was not able to purchase it and the finance company did not allow it in her contract therfore being the fact that this car was a 10 year old vehicle I chose to give her a free warranty outside of her contract as an act of good will to help her if anything in the futre was to happen with a car that old you never know when or what could happen its a machine. I started having problems with the car on 3/5/2013 and called him on his cell right away"

Ms [redacted] had called me and informed me of her troubles and informed her being that it seemed to be a battery problem to go to her local Orielly or Autozone to have them test the battery she was immediately informed that all the problem was that somehow her battery cable got loose. She informed me immediately to which I responded please let me know if you have any issues we can make sure we get it looked at with a mechanic

"He said he had never had problems with the car, but not to worry because he would take care of it with the warranty if it got worse. To keep an eye on it and let him know if we needed to submit it through. He did emphasize that I should not call the warranty place directly and that I should go through his shop because that would benefit waiving my deductible. When I had spoke with Ms [redacted] regarding a warranty I told her that there are some mechanics that will charge the deductible and some that wont and that if needed there is a local mechanic here in town we know of that has dealt with a lot of warranties and does not charge the deductible. I agreed to sell him the car"

When Ms. [redacted] arrived she had been looking at other lots close to mine that had offered her a very low amount on her vehcile and told her that the damages and problems were significant even thought they had not even drove her car I told her that I knew of some mechanics and body shops that may be able to get her a decent price and I would help her get a good deal with the dealer pricing with them I told her that it would take a while but I would get back to her. Ms [redacted] called me and told me she had a possible buy being that it was a low amount I told her I may be interested and that I would let her know for sure that I was getting the vehicle or not

"On March 14th I sent a follow up text on the van, but again he never responded. At this point I felt something wasn't right.I called AUL which was the original warranty he had provided and I was told it was not a valid contract"

The original warranty that was put together for Ms [redacted] was unfortunately not a good fit for this vehicle therfore we were replacing it with a different one

"I was very upset and decided to go get my van back. He would not answer my calls. I called the lot and spoke to his secretary and she assured me that my van would be there at 1 for pick up. I texted him on the 4/2 to give him enough notice. On Saturday 4/6 I showed up at [redacted] on [redacted] Ave Sacramento and his dealership was no longer there. When I went into the office and spoke to the guy there he stated that [redacted] was not there yet and that my van was not there. I got very upset and told I had seen my van and noticed the keys on the desk. I reached over and grabbed them, walked out and got in my van. As I was walking he was following me with the phone saying [redacted] wanted to talk to me"

Ms [redacted] was contacting me by text message for a couple of days in the time that I was not even in town or had cell access for the area I was in did not allow for it so unfortunately I didn't not receive any information regarding this until my arrival Saturday morning. When Ms [redacted] had arrived and my employee that had opened had no idea about the situation and did not know information about the van or even what it looked like therefore he had no way of answering the question accordingly he called me immediately and as that happened Ms [redacted] had already grabbed her keys and took off I told him to pass the phone to her so I could speak to her and apologize for the inconvenience although she didn't give him the time of day

"When I confronted him about the invalid warranty his response was that the computers had crashed, therefore, things weren't submitted properly, but that he would have a new contract for me with 2 extra months due to the error."

When Ms [redacted] and I had spoke regarding the unfortunate situation regarding her warranty I did inform her that she would receive and additional 2 months added to her time.

"I literally had to steal my own van because he would not let me take it.On 4/22/2013 in the morning I received a call from [redacted]. She explained that my DMV paperwork had not been submitted and that my car needed to get smogged"

[redacted] had called Ms [redacted] in the morning informing her that the vehicle had been received with notation in our paperwork that the smog was unused on this vehicle and that we did not need to do one upon going to the DMV we were informed differently therefore she called Ms [redacted] the next morning and informed her that when she could that we we already set up the payment information with the local smog shop that was located less than a mile from her place and asked her if there was a possibility that she could take it that day she informed her that she only has weekends available to do so

"She wanted me to drop everything I was doing to go get it done, but I refused since I was at work. I explained I could get it done after work or on a Saturday, but she was pushing on immediately. I refused and got upset, it was not my problem that they couldn't follow the law and that they were on a deadline. I once again complained about my warranty and told them again that the car was having problems. At 2:42pm the same day I was left a voicemail where [redacted] states that she was outside my work with my warranty paperwork and that she would take my car to get smogged at [redacted] on [redacted] Blvd."

Being that Ms [redacted] had a busy schedule and [redacted] had some extra time she decided be helpful and drove up to Oroville from Sacramento and take her the copy of the new warranty and offer her help by taking the vehicle around the block to the smog shop to complete it for her that way she didnt have to waste her time on the weekend

"The new warranty agreement I received was with ASC. June 6th at 11 am I receive the diagnostics and 15-20 min later I call the warranty to authorize repairs, but I was told that the agreement had been cancelled or never finalized, therefore, not valid!"

There was a correction that needed to be completed and notice had been sent to the dealer while I was hospitalized [redacted] had also contacted the dealer that the correction needed to be done and when he called he was informed of the same information that I was hospitalized and that as soon as I was out that I would handle the situation being that there was no one that was able to do so there at that point. The corrections were completed and the warranty was updated in there system and shows covered from since the date it was created

"The car has engine problems, which I was told were nothing that I could have caused in this time frame that the car was in my possession. The car was sold damaged! I also noticed the wrong date of purchase on my warranty."

Ms [redacted] contradicts herself here because she previously acknowledges she was going to receive an additional two months for the inconvenience

"I have been a victim of Fraud! I believe this was a fraudulent sale.

Product_Or_Service: Used Vehicle with an extended warranty"

There has been no fraud done we have multiple times tried to extend our help to Ms [redacted] she purchased a As-Is vehicle she was completely aware of this the day she signed her paperwork and was informed she was unable to purchase and was not able to finance the warranty so I offered to help her out with a free warranty when she was originally not going to be getting one at all the car was running perfectly fine when she purchased it she complained about not having brand new tires so we offered to get her the best almost new tires from The Tire Dealer in Yuba city when the ones were on were 50% ware only she called later about a battery problem that was only a lose cable then in May 3 months later she states her check engine light came on there is no way our dealer or any dealer can foresee the future or know when a vehicle is to have issues she had only previously complained about a batter issue and that was fixed by tightening a cable there was nothing happening or happened that we could have known that would lead to this current problem that is why I always offer warranties to my customers and being and in this case we even covered the cost of one for her and gave her one being the price was affordable. Being Ms [redacted] has purchased an As-Is vehicle signed the as is buyers guide and verbally acknowledged that this was a as is purchase and being that we gave her a free warranty unfortunately there was some data entry issues but they were corrected and updated correctly with the warranty company. In which case I will not agree to repurchase this vehicle back I had even offered Ms [redacted] that in the future may it be 1 year or even 10 years later if she ever needed any assistance in getting a cheaper price by local mechanics that will give her the cheaper dealer pricing that I would be glad to get her in touch with one. Which is something I always let any customer know because a vehicle is a machine and we unfortunately can never know or foresee when and what could happen and would never like to see them get over charged for any repairs or service by the over priced retail amounts mechanics charge the public.

Review: I bought a 2005 dodge neon from the car store of Sacramento. [redacted] told me I had a three month warranty, and I haven't been able to reach him.

On August 4, 2013 I bought a Dodge neon 2005 from the car store. The beginning of the process was fine. At this time the car store was supposedly moving to another spot down auburn. me and my mother were told to meet [redacted] at the new place we went through all the paper work with him and when it came to the warranty we were told by [redacted] my car had came with a three month warranty and if wanted I could buy an extended from my finance company. I declined and stuck with the three month. I signed the paperwork and paid. I got in the car upon driving away I noticed the radio was very static and would lay normal, I was not told about that. and then a few weeks later my car started to knock. I immediately tried to get in contact with [redacted], he wouldn't answer. I called, my mother tried we even went down to the place I picked my car up from and it was an empty lot. since then me and my mother both have been trying to contact him and the car store with no response.Desired Settlement: Three month warranty like promised.
