Complaint$85 cancellation fee due to appointment cancelled 23 hours before appointment. They would not see me until balance was paid. Never received statement.Received call 4/13/16, confirming appt on 4/14/16 @ 1145 a.m. I stated yes I will be making my appointment. Office worker then stated that I would not be seen until my balance was paid. I then asked what my balance was which was $890. Office worker said that they filed a claim to my insurance which would pay me and I pay them. I then told her I would not be able to make my appointment do to $890 balance and I will call my insurance. They are charging me an $85 cancellation fee. I called my insurance they stated they could not file the claim because Carolina Center had not sent them the requested information. I called Carolina Center and told them I don't know why I need to pay $85 when I was just being notified of my balance the day prior to my appointment and that the reason they have not received any money from my insurance is because they had not sent back the requested information. They State they never received any request. Spoke to office manager and she stated they will send that $85 to collections. I am very upset that I did not receive any notice prior to the call on April 13th 2016. I don't have $890 to make it to my appointment , office manager asked if I can pay anything on April 14th 2016 before my appointment I said no and and I told her I would call my insurance. I spoke with office manager today April 15th 2016 and office manager States that they never said I wouldn't be seen if I didn't pay which is not true because I would have gone to my appointment because I took the day off from work just for this appointment. All I want is for them to take off that $85 fee my appointment was scheduled for 11:45 a.m. and they call me at 12:15p.m. that day before to notify me of this balance. I appreciate your time thank you.Desired SettlementI just want for the $85 to be taken off from my balance. When I receive the check for my insurance I will gladly pay them the $890 that I do. I don't feel that it was fair to charge me $85 for their mistake. Thank you.Business Response Our practice provides verbal and written notifications of payment expectations, late cancellation/no show appointment fees and policies, non-contract and contracted insurance company's policies, co-pay expectations, non-payment collection procedures and time periods, and other additional information to all individuals to whom services are provided at the time appointments are scheduled and at the first appointment. Individuals sign all document notifications acknowledging understanding of information provided at the first appointment. Services are never denied due to non-payment and all received documentation request are processed timely. Consumer Response The reason I cancelled was because your office called me, and told me, that my balance would need to be paid before I can be seen. Why other reason would I cancel my appointment? I took the day off from work, there was no other reason but the call I received as to why I cancelled the appt. I would have gone to the appointment and not have to dispute this $85 charge.
