Stains were not removed from chairs, fabric no longer as soft, billed me anyway.A free estimate was offered. Three items were examined. Couch was recommended against cleaning as it was beyond repair.Two chairs were recommended to be cleaned in the plant to remove stains. Nothing in the written estimate indicated the stains on the chairs were unlikely to come out. The chairs still had stains in them and the fabric no longer had the soft velvety feel which I loved them for. I was still charged despite this and to make it worse the employee tried to say we were warned the stains were unlikely to come out and he had recommended against trying. My sister who was there the day of the estimate confirmed this to be untrue for the chairs, we would not have pursued cleaning with the chairs as we did not pursue cleaning the couch when warned against it. Nowhere in our written estimate does it say the stains were unlikely to come out or that the fabric would be altered.Desired SettlementAn apology for lying about warning us and a refund of the cleaning charge of $70.Business Response When I was scheduled for the free estimate I met with [redacted] sister ,who then showed me what [redacted] wanted an estimate on. A leather sofa and 2 ultra suede chairs and all 3 pieces had been heavily used and severely neglected and because the furniture had been giving to [redacted]her sister didn't know what any of the soiling and stains were. Due to this fact I was very reluctant to offer any kind of cleaning. Because we also re-upholster furniture, I asked her sister if re-upholstering the chairs would be a possibility and her sister reply was that [redacted] didn't want to spend that much money. Her sister then said that she would probably still clean them even if the stains didn't come out because they are good quality chairs. Before I left I gave her my card and said, that if she has any questions, to please give me a call. The 2 chairs were cleaned in our shop and were cleaned and dried 3 separate times to get them as clean as possible. As the OWNER of the company, I still handle over 80% of all free estimates. I have been doing this for 28 years and have developed a very reputable company. Why would I risk all of that for 2 $35.00 chairs. My question is if [redacted] was so concerned about these chairs that were given to her, why didn't she call me or due any research from the people that gave her the chairs before she decided to clean them? I GIVE FREE ESTIMATES TO AVOID THESE KINDS OF SITUATIONS. I CAN;T BE BLAMED ON HER DICISION TO HAVE THE CHAIRS CLEANED BASED ON 3RD PARTY INFORMATION.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I checked with my sister, he said the leather sofa was not worth cleaning so I didn't have it cleaned. She insists he never said the chairs would not come clean or she would have told me. He gave me more than a card, he wrote an official estimate with prices for cleaning the chairs and reupholstering the sofa, nowhere did the written estimate say the chairs were unlikely to come clean. I was checking the reliability of this company by first having the chairs cleaned before reupholstering the couch, very glad I did! Definitely going somewhere else for that and the carpet cleaning (6,000 sq feet) that I need after seeing this response. BTW, all caps is equivalent to yelling, I am surprised someone who cannot be civil in resolving a dispute has such a good reputation.
