The CE Shop, Inc. Reviews (25)

We are sorry to hear that you experienced issues when enrolling in the Maryland Pre-Licensing program. The CE Shop, Inc. strives to provide students with a positive experience each time they contact our customer support to purchase course materials online. We understand that it can be frustrating...

when a product is not eligible for a discount and typically all products on our site are eligible for discounts with the exception of the Maryland Pre-Licensing program. When a student visits our Maryland Pre-Licensing purchase page there is an instantaneous pop-up that reads:“We apologize for the inconvenience, but the code of Maryland Regulations DOES NOT permit discounting or promotions to be applied to these courses. Because of this, we’ve researched other providers and are confident that our current pricing means you’re getting the best value.” In order to proceed the student is given the options to select “Okay, Thanks” or “Contact Us”This pop-up is set to display each time a user is in a new session on the site. We run sales on a regular basis and any art in the emails, or in banners on the catalog pages, with products that are available for promotion include sale related disclaimers. These images and sales are not located on the MD pages because the products are not able to be discounted. We also run cart abandonment campaigns offering a discount when a user has been inactive on the checkout page for a certain amount of time. The campaigns show to all customers and we are not able to determine which products are in the cart. We apologize for confusion related to display and moving forward we have added additional verbiage stating that certain restrictions apply. Because the discount policy is mandated by the Maryland Regulations our systems have been developed to not accept codes related to this product and team members do not have the ability to override or change these settings.

The CE Shop launched a new website on Sunday night, August 14, 2016. As a result, some of our students experienced technical issues with the website and courses. Our customer support team and IT department worked diligently to resolve any and all issues affecting the customer experience during this...

time. We apologize for any inconvenience that [redacted] experienced. To compensate for the inconvenience, what we can do is provide [redacted] with 6 free credits towards any of our courses, which is valued at approximately $60.00 in Maryland.  The credits are available within his account and he can use them at any time.

Complaint: 12515356
I am rejecting this response because: I was told by the CE Shop employee that I would have UNTIL 12-30-17. I was promised I would be given until December 30, 2017 to finish,  A CE SHOP employee promised me that I would have until December 30, 2017.  They should have never promised me that if that was not the case.  I am filing a complaint with the Texas Real Estate commission as well as the Colorado Attorney General's Office  and the Texas Attorney General's Office. I wrote the President and CEO of the CE shop and never heard a response.  The CE shop says on their web site that they are honest and keep their promises. Really? I was told on the phone I would have until December 30, 2017. They are liars and dishonest clearly. Either grant a 30 day extension or refund my money in full. I am also filing complaints with my bank [redacted] and Visa the card company. The CE shop could do the RIGHT and HONEST thing and grant a full 30 day extension or refund the Money.
Sincerely,
Michael [redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/11/16) */
The CE Shop has investigated the student's complaint and the course Going Green was completed on 10/28/2015 and reported to the state on 10/29/2015. The CE Shop contacted the state for verification on 11/09/2015 and 11/13/2015 and in both...

instances was informed by the state that the student's course had been posted to the student's account as of 10/29/2015. Based on this information, there never was an issue and The CE Shop does not know why the complaint was brought by the customer.

The student, [redacted], purchased the D.C. Principles and Practices of Real Estate for Salesperson course on 12/3/15. Immediately after purchase, the course was made available to the student for the designated timeframe. The customer accessed the course material multiple times during the...

designated timeframe and completed all of the course content. The CE Shop’s course expiration policy is outlined multiple times during and after the purchase process to ensure that the customer is aware of the designated timeframe to access the coursework. The policy is outlined in the following areas: ·         Terms and Conditions: Pre-licensing Education: Except as modified for North Carolina, Oklahoma, Washington, D.C., and Iowa as provided below, the following applies: Pre-licensing courses expire 6 months after the date of purchase. The student will be granted a one month extension at no charge, said one month free extension to be applied immediately after the initial 6 month term. For any reactivation or extension of the course after the 7th month, The CE Shop will charge the student 20% of the current retail price of the course for each 30 day extension or partial 30 day extension in the event that the course finally terminates before the end of the final 30 day extension. Extensions or reactivations cannot be granted beyond 12 months from the purchase of the course since, in all events, the course terminates 12 months after purchase. If the course is not completed within 12 months of the date of purchase or other period as provided below for North Carolina, Oklahoma, Washington, D.C., and Iowa, the student will be required to purchase a new course at 50% of the current retail price of the new course and fully complete the new course, including the final exam, if the student wants credit for the new course; Regarding North Carolina, Oklahoma, Washington, D.C., and Iowa, please see the following: Washington D.C. provides that a course must be completed within 3 months from the time of enrollment o   The customer must select a check box at the time of purchase agreeing to the terms and conditions. Valecia checked the box indicating she understood and agreed to the terms and conditions at the time of purchase. ·         Within the customer’s account: Each course has a designated expiration date that is visible within the online account used to access the course work. When the course becomes within a month of expiration, the course moves to an ‘Action Required’ tab that is visible to the customer that clearly states that the course is expiring soon and highlights the expiration date. o   The expiration date was clearly listed within her account indicating how much time she had to access the course before it expired. The customer saw the expiration date each time she logged into her account. ·         Washington D.C. Course Catalog page – Course Requirements: The CE Shop’s pre-licensing course in the District of Columbia will expire 3 months after the date of purchase. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed within your account. Refer to the Terms and Conditions for re-enrollment options. In addition to the course expiration policy being outlined in multiple forms, The CE Shop is subject to D.C. regulations. Those regulations provide that courses expire 90 days after enrollment (in our case, we use the purchase date as the enrollment date of the courses). The only way to extend the course expiration date is through an official written exception from the D.C. Real Estate Commission. Lastly, the customer is not eligible for a refund per The CE Shop’s refund policy that is outlined in the Terms and Conditions: The CE Shop is committed to student satisfaction. If for any reason you are unsatisfied, The CE Shop will refund the purchase of any course(s), as long as the request for the refund is submitted before the course expires, within 30 days of purchase, and the course(s) is not more than 50% completed. Regarding Pre-Licensing Courses, The CE Shop guarantees that you will pass the state licensing exam or you are entitled to your money back. To obtain a refund of the purchase price of the pre-licensing course in the event that you do not pass your state licensing exam, you will be required to agree to the terms of and submit the affidavit. Please contact our office at 1-888-827-0777 or [email protected] for refund or credit hour requests. Partial credit is not given for any course. In order to ease some of the burden if the customer would like to re-enroll in the course, we did provide [redacted] with a 50% discount to re-purchase a new course.
