I am sorry to hear that the unit is operating on its own. I would like to assist you in getting the issue resolved without having to replace your operator. It does sound like your neighbors remote is activating your operator, and if you own a universal remote, this causes unintended operation of...

your unit. We do have a way to fix this at no cost to you. I will reach out to you privately to work on this resolution.

I am very sorry to hear that the garage door caused damage to your vehicle and that it seems it is no longer reversing as it should. I would very much like to work with you to get this issue resolved. I will be contacting you privately so that we may go over the possible solutions. Sincerely, ...

I apologize for not being able to reimburse you for part or all of the $850.00 charge you incurred.   The warranty states if, during the limited warranty period, this product appears to contain a defect covered by this limited warranty, call 1-[redacted], toll free, before dismantling this product. Defective parts will be repaired or replaced with new or factory-rebuilt parts at Seller's sole option. You are responsible for any costs incurred in removing and/or reinstalling the product or any component. The warranty goes on to say that labor charges for reinstalling a repaired or replaced unit is not covered. We understand that you used an Authorized Technician that was listed on our website, however we do not own the business and have no control over how they conduct their business. I apologize if they advised the entire unit would need to be replaced. As I advised before, we did not advise them to do this and twice advised that only the logic board needed to be replaced. I understand that you did not have a way to secure your door because the unit was not working. This is why we do not recommend using the garage door opener as the sole way of securing a garage door. The garage door opener's main purpose is to do the lifting of the door so you do not have to, the PosiLock feature is an added feature. If the unit is ever out of service, there should always be another way to secure the door, such as a key lock feature. I apologize again for not being able to reimburse you for the charges you incurred. If you have any further questions, I am always happy to answer them.

Thank you for your reply. I am doing some investigating into if your 2010 [redacted] truly does require a HomeLink Bridge, so far all of our records show that it should not need one. What I would like to do is get you a HomeLink Bridge, free of charge, and verify if it does indeed allow you to program your 2010 [redacted]. I can contact you back once you receive it to assist you in programming as well. I will be reaching out to you privately to make the arrangements.

I sincerely apologize again but because the vehicle was knowingly not pulled completely into the garage, and was knowingly not breaking the safety sensor beam which would have reversed the door, we still would not be able to authorize payment for damages for these reasons. If you should have further questions, definitely let me know.

I sincerely apologize that the website has given you incorrect information regarding your need for a HomeLink Bridge. You are correct that the Bridge.Chamberlain.com website does state that your 2010 [redacted] will not need a Bridge, when it fact it does. We are working on getting this corrected. ...

I have looked back at your contact with us and I see that while the website has given incorrect information regarding the 2010 Lexus, you also have a 2006 [redacted] Commander, which according to the website states that you will need a HomeLink Bridge for the HomeLink in the [redacted] to work. Because of the way the HomeLink Bridge works, you do not need a HomeLink Bridge for each vehicle, only one per home is required, no matter how many vehicles you have. Since your [redacted] would need one, there is no need to purchase one for the Lexus as well. I also see that back in 2014 you had already purchased a HomeLink Repeater, and if you still own this, there is no need to purchase another one.   Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, we are always happy to help as much as we can. Sincerely, [redacted] Quality Assurance Lead

I am rejecting this response because:There was no resolution yet offered. Just "getting back to me soon", which I've heard for a year.

Our apologies for the issues you are experiencing with your unit. I see that you have spoken to one of our Quality Assurance Agents, David, and you have determined together that the issue seems to be that your door is a little heavy, which causes the belt to slack, and David has recommended having...

the door serviced by a garage door technician. We will keep in touch until you have the door serviced so that we can make sure that fixes the issue for you. If it does not, we will happily continue to assist until we find a solution.

Dear [redacted],

I have reviewed your case and I am very sorry that your garage door opener is not working properly. You had originally contacted us...

on May 26th 2015 because your door opener has not responded to your remote since you purchased it back in 2010. We determined the logic board on the garage door opener was the issue. The garage door opener was well out of warranty, but we still sent you a free replacement logic board over $100.00 value as a courtesy.

After replacing the logic board, you contacted us for assistance in connecting the safety sensor wires to the new logic board. We determined that safety sensors were incorrectly connected to the new board and proceeded to help you correct this issue. After re-connecting the sensors correctly, we determined that there may be a short in the wiring to your sensors since the door would not close. We sent you free replacement safety sensors as a courtesy despite the unit being out of warranty.
As stated in our warranty policy, located in your installation manual that cam e with the unit, labor charges for a technician repairing or replacing a unit is not covered for Chamberlain Do-it yourself openers. If you decide to hire a technician to resolve your issue, that would be a cost incurred by you.

I apologize again that your opener is not working properly. I encourage you to please contact us if you need any further assistance as we want very much to continue working with you until we can get your unit working as it should.

Sincerely,

Hello John,   I have looked into your case and have reviewed all contact you have had with us. I was able to see the pictures that you have sent us as well, showing the top lid of the garage door opener bent from when the trolley ran into the rail's stop bolt, becoming jammed. I do see that...

your garage door opener, HD420EV, does have a two year warranty and you stated you have had the unit for about two years.   You stated that we did not honor our two year warranty in regards to the travel module and that we suggested replacing the system for a whole new one. While it may have been a travel module issue to start, in this case, it's now something a bit larger. Now the unit is bent and we do not recommend keeping the unit in the state that it is in, it could cause damage to other components further on down the road, or worse, safety issues. This is why we suggested replacing the whole unit.   I see the agent that you spoke with stated she could not honor the warranty, her reasoning being that the unit was installed using old parts from the previous garage door opener. I know that you did not install the unit, but the reason this raises concern is because there is no way to tell what kind of shape those old parts are in and again, this can raise safety concerns or cause unforeseen damage.   What I would like to do however is send you a whole new unit, this will include a new rail, new safety sensors, wiring, wall control, etc. You will want to remove all preexisting pieces and install everything that comes with the new unit. As had said, you did not install the previous unit, so you would not be aware that we do not recommend using the old parts for a new garage door opener.  I will be contacting you privately to set up the order for the new unit.   Regards, Randi  Quality Assurance Lead

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
That is why I submitted the request I only wanted the app not the web interface, I was told originally I would be supported in the app now being told no. Please either get the app for windows phone or send me a refund for the myq hardware.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/08/31) */
I apologize, an app interface that will work with a Windows phone is not something that I am able to make available for you, it is something that would need to be developed by programmers. If you purchased the system directly from us here at Chamberlain, we can have you return the system and we can refund you. Do you have your original order number?
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/09/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Why can you not develop the app? You did for android and apple, why not windows phone, this was bought at Costco and the unit has been installed so I cannot return it, I could have saved $100 if I would have known you do not support windows phones with an app.
Why not develop the app for windows phone, it is not a lot of work as I have built apps before.

I am rejecting this response because:  I was not advised by the garage door service repair, which is our agent and listed on your website, that he could replace the circuit board to fix the garage door opener.  He told me that your technical service people told him the circuit board was broken and that the entire unit had to be replaced.I had no access to the conversation between the service repair and your technical service and merely relied on the information that your service repair authorized dealer told me.On August 2nd, I telephone various time, hung up and redialed, not once. A repair service needs to pick up their calls, you cannot expect people to call and receive no response, write emails and be told that they will get a response within 24 hours and then not respond because "you were busy."  Your email telling me that you would respond within 24 hours is a tactic contract with me the customer.  You did not respond with an answer to my problem for three days.  You are in default of your contractual obligation to your customer.Again, part or all of this repair needs to be reimbursed to me.  I will continue to file complaints until Chamberlain accepts their responsibility in this affair.
Sincerely,
Marylouise [redacted]

Hello, I have reviewed your information, and I do apologize that we are unable to reimburse you for the $850.00 charge you incurred. I understand that our hold times were longer than expected. We understand that this can be aggravating for our customers and are currently working diligently towards...

a resolution, however the longest hold time I located for your call was for about 14 minutes, after which you disconnected. This unfortunately does not give us a chance to assist you in obtaining a warrantied replacement part. We were able to locate recorded calls from the technician you hired. I listened to these and we advised on both calls that the logic board within the unit needed to replaced, not the whole unit, as this is a much larger cost, was not necessary and is not covered under the warranty. I contacted your technician by phone. He stated that he did advise you that it was only the logic board that needed replacing, but that you had requested to replace the whole unit as you needed it up and running as quickly as possible. I am sorry again that we could not reimburse you for the cost you incurred, as we were not consulted before these purchases were made. Sincerely, RandiQuality Assurance Lead

I sincerely apologize, rest assured that I am actively looking into this matter further for you and consider it a high priority. I will get back to you with more information soon.

Dear Mr. [redacted];             After speaking with the folks at Jaeger Lumber & Supply Company and with our engineering department it appears the LiftMaster 380LM Remote Light Fixtures installed at your residence are functioning as designed....

However, it is clear these light fixtures are not functioning to your satisfaction. We are therefore refunding you the cost of the two light fixtures at $49.95 each and the installation charge of $95.00. I apologize that your light covers are no longer intact. The warranty on your unit had a 1 year warranty that covered the light covers, and a lifetime motor warranty....

The light lens' are no longer under warranty unfortunately. We could not register this as a product defect because the light covers are 10 years old, they did not break within a time period that would be considered a defect in the product, and have merely succumb to normal wear and tear. The garage door opener is installed in a garage where the hot and cold, dry air and humidity can affect it. After so long, the lens' [redacted] eventually be affected and [redacted] need replacing. We do carry the lens' for $16.32 each, part number 108d79, not the $30.00 that you were quoted. I apologize for the incorrect information. If you decide to order the light lens', please feel free to give us a call.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/07/24) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Business has not addressed the quality issue with their product, regardless of warranty. Additionally business has not addressed the issue with lack of customer service.
If business wants to provide discounted pricing and free shipping I [redacted] consider request closure (business did not include price for shipping, so I assume it to be free vs. $12 shipping per item when I spoke with them on phone).
Reject response, Business has not responded appropriately to compliant (ignored complaint details).
Final Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2015/07/30) */
Please submit the pictures to me at [redacted]@chamberlain.com. I would be able to discount the freight, but am unable to discount the cost of the replacement covers, I apologize. We [redacted] use the feedback you have given us regarding the light covers when manufacturing our new units' light covers. We have already altered the light covers on our newer style units, striving to make our products better and better, and its feedback like yours that helps us do that. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I am rejecting this response because:Basically am starting all over again with someone new.Winter is coming and I need a functioning garage door.I have advised chamberlain of my intention to replace complete unit.I am still displeased at this but have decided I have spent enough time on this matter.I hope this can still be documented.
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:The companies product is double the price of quieter competitive machines that come with more options such as two remotes.  I thought the the company would step up since they don't advertise that older vehicles are incompatible with their product. I have two garage door openers I need replaced but I went ahead and purchased the Ryobi quiet drives. Consumers should not purchase the lift master nor from Chamberlain. They got their money and it appears they are happy.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
