I regret we failed to make this customer happy, but the company stood by the refund policy stated on the website at the time the event was booked, and when the customer cancelled the event the company offered to rescheduleWe're confident we did the right thing with respect to honoring the terms
and conditionsHere's what it says about deposits and what happens if you cancel a trip:Booking InformationA50% deposit is needed to book all tripsin time for the check to clear before the scheduled departure. The remaining balance gets paid in cash prior to departure. If you booka trip at the last minute a credit card is needed to hold the reservationCash payment will be made before the boat leaves the dock and your card will not be charged. If you reserve a trip on a credit card and fail to keep the reservation, a $service charge will be placed on the card used to reserve the trip to cover expenses.Deposits are non-refundable.If the trip is cancelled (weather related) every effort will be made toreschedule the trip to accommodate the party.Because of Coast Guard regulation, anglers maximum in your party.A 20% tip for the mate is customaryThe mate works hard to ensure your enjoyment during the trip, as well as the time needed to get the vessel ready before the trip, and clean up after. All fish caught by the party during the trip belong to the partyWe will clean, or fillet and bag your catch. All trophy fish, and all Tuna 73" or bigger belong to the boat. All short or out of season fish get released. Here's a link to the site:http://www.longbeachislandcharterboat.comTo address each point brought up by the customer. A 50% deposit is the minimum required to book the tripI agree, but the terms also say the remainder is due prior to departure and we believe the customer is choosing to ignore this portion of the terms. The customer maintains she only paid the remaining amount because it was more convenient, so they didn't have to carry cash the day of the weddingBut according to the terms the entire balance is due prior to departure which means before the boat leaves the dock. The company honored the terms with regard to the deposit, and honored the voucher sent to reschedule for seasons. This event was scheduled and cancelled during the fishing season and the season is also over. The website does not say the company will reschedule in perpetuity so at this point we are considering this the end of the offer to reschedule. The company lived up to the agreement we entered into with this customer and regret they are not completely satisfied.Best regards,(Capt) Tim KnorrCell Phone *** ***Email ***The Charterboat WILLIAM KNORRWebsite ***Click here toReplyorForward

I am rejecting this response because:I am NOT requesting the $deposit to be returned, which I understand is non-refundable What I am requesting is the $BALANCE DUE, which was paid to you in advance for convenience The $wasn’t due until the day of departure, which you wouldn’t have been paid because it rained that day and the charter was cancelled My husband, *** *** also emailed you on July 10, asking you for this refund of the balance paid in advance, but you responded that there are no refunds according to the terms and conditions stated on the website Upon looking at your website, there is no mention what happens to the money you have paid up front (deposit AND balance due) if the trip is cancelled because of inclement weather I agreed to a gift certificate for a fishing trip voucher for a future date when this wedding day charter was cancelled Between the stress of my wedding day and then the weather, I agreed to this, which really was the only choice you gave me After the wedding, I had time to rethink things, and you refused to renegotiate your terms, even though what I am asking you to refund me is less than the voucher you gave for $(according to the price on your website).I emailed you on March 22, that my husband and I were staying in Long Beach Island, NJ for our 1st anniversary and if we could use our gift certificate to charter your boat for a dinner cruise instead of fishing, perhaps stopping at a local dock, but you never responded to me. So according to the terms of your agreement, every effort was NOT made to accommodate the party because you never responded to my email on WednesdayMarch 22, I again am asking you to return the $BALANCE that was paid to you along with the deposit on January 9, 2016.
