The Chase / Harris Corp. Reviews (1)

Chase Harris was hired to complete a title v inspection, without my approval used a backhoe that was an additional cost and used my loam for the hole. With Chase Harris I scheduled a title v inspection for [redacted] 2015. I was called on the [redacted] being notified on confusion of when my service was scheduled for because they had down two dates. We rescheduled for Monday [redacted] 2015. I get home from work on Monday [redacted] to find tire tracks from their machine all over my side yard and a dirt patch with a diameter of about 10 feet. I hired Chase Harris because they did the previous title v inspection for the last home owner of the property. When I spoke with them I was told that digging was not needed since my cesspool was already exposed at the end of the driveway. But they did tell me that if a backhoe was needed there would be an additional [redacted] charge. I called the next morning Tuesday [redacted] to find out the reason why the backhoe was used. The gentleman I spoke with took a defensive approach claiming he didn't know anything because personally did not do the service so he would have to take a ride to the house to see for himself. He told me to call later that day. I called again at about [redacted] pm. I again explained my situation and the reason he gave me for why the backhoe was used was he couldn't see in the outlet pipe of the system with the camera. I didn't believe him because I read a previous review made by a prior customer that they used a backhoe on his system when his cover was only 4 inches deep. So, I felt I was being taken advantage of. I requested that sod be delivered to fix the dirt patch because I am putting my house on the market soon to sell and I want the yard to be presentable. He said absolutely not. I then asked that the backhoe charge of [redacted] dollars be removed. He agreed and the situation was resolved, so I thought. On Friday [redacted] I also had mulch and loam delivered to my house with the intentions of patching and landscaping other portions of my yard. I put a tarp over the piles because I read that we were suppose to have thunderstorms on that Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday May 13th I removed the tarp for the piles to dry out. I discovered that a bobcat scoop was taken from my loam and was used for the hole that was dug by Chase Harris. I called again to explain the new situation. Again I was treated by a defensive customer service rep claiming that they did their job and left my yard neat and clean. I told them they had no right to go under my tarp and use my loam for a hole that I was not notified that was going to be dug. I was told "would you of rather that they just left the hole there without cleaning it up". I told them that they shouldn't use what isn't theres and especially without my approval. The woman on the phone told me that she was getting very aggravated and doesn't want to do so because I am the customer and directed me to speak with [redacted] (her husband) later that day. Before we got off the phone, I asked for an email address so that I could send them a picture of the missing loam.Desired SettlementDue to no communication of additional charges and the additional work and expense put upon me to fix the mess that they made, I am looking to have the bill reduced by 50%. Business Response Our Title 5 crew was sent to the customers property on [redacted] to do a T5 inspection. The customer was informed on ALL costs to do the inspection when he called in to make the appointment. When our technician arrived on site, he proceeded to do the inspection and he found he couldn't see the pit with the camera. In order for the technician to finish the T5 he had to dig up the pit. He then back filled the hole and raked it out. Our technician then used some of his loam he had in the driveway to make the yard clean and neat. The homeowner called the next morning complaining about the dig fee, and that he was not notified. Being part of the T5, the fees were explained at the time of making the appointment. Our goal is to keep our customers happy, so we took the backhoe fee off and he was happy. The next day he called and stated that our technician had stole some of his loam. We were very confused about that, knowing that our tech would not do something like that. We confronted our technician and he said he used it make the hole look good so the homeowner would not complain about a mess. We always leave properties clean and neat!! The homeowner did not care so we offered to bring him loam and he said 'No!', he said 'I don't want anything for nothing!'. We tried a couple of times to rectify the situation and nothing worked. We did not take any of his property, from his property. As for the homeowner saying he was spoken to in a defensive manner, that is not our customer policy and do not tolerate that kind of behavior. After numerous times of trying to work with the homeowner and nothing working, we feel we did our best.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The response has comments that are not accurate. I didn't call to complain about the fee, I called to complain about the hole being dug. I was told no digging would be involved, and if there was I expected to be notified before doing so. My yard was not left near and clean there were tire tracks left in multiple locations. I also didn't appreciate you taking my loam which I purchased for other uses for filling a hole dug by you. So now that is an additional cost on me. What would you of done if the loam wasn't already at my house? Also I was never offered loam, I made the comment about not receiving something for nothing because I am not one to complain but I felt this was rediculous. I just want to move on from this.
