We installed the roof on 6/10/ We don't know how it's possible that we broke a vent pipe a week later when we were not there, but we will gladly go look at the issue Please call the office so we can set up a time when someone will be home

I am rejecting this response
because: I have called the office on two occasions - once I spoke with Diane and once I left a voicemail. No one got back to me regarding this matter. Therefore, I believe that accepting this response provides me with no assurance that anyone will ever get back to me. I have a signed contract with a warranty and have paid in full for the job. I deserve to have someone come look at and repair the damage without jumping to conclusions beforehand. The pipe was not damaged prior to the roof installation

We have mailed out a check after request We don't know if the check got lost, but we put stop payment on the check After that, we dropped off a new check personally into his mailbox on 7/7/

The quote for the reroof was $5,200.  The shed roof was an additional $200, bringing the total amount to $5,400.  There was no ridge vent included in the quote.  The reason why the inspection failed was because the homeowner lied to the inspector about the ridge vent being on the...

contract.  We showed the building inspector the contract and he passed the job.  After the job was completed, they showed Janiec Roofing another quote from another company for $5,000.  That is when they asked for Janiec Roofing to match that quoted price.  This matter is now at our attorney's office for collection.

I am rejecting this response because:
Janiec Roofing, Inc. was requested to provide a quote to install a ‘roof over’ the existing roof.  On 09/11/17, Janiec Roofing, Inc. submitted a proposal (dated 09/11/17) which included the ridge vent at no additional cost.  (Exhibit A).  After the job was completed on 10/17/17, Janiec Roofing, Inc. submitted a revised quote / invoice (dated erroneously 09/11/17 + excluded ridge vent) expecting $5400 payment  (Exhibit B).  Mr. Chet J[redacted] was reminded of the final agreed upon amount of $5200 for the total project.  After Mr. [redacted] left, it was discovered that the ridge vent was not installed as stated in the original proposal at no additional charge.  On 10/20/17, when the Wayne Township inspector arrived, he advised that we do not pay until the job is complete.  He then issued a ‘red failed inspection sticker’ and instructed us to contact him for re-inspect upon completion of the job.  On 10/24/17, a letter addressing our concerns was mailed to Janiec Roofing, Inc. President, Chet J[redacted]  (Exhibit C).  Afterwards, the township inspector informed us that Janiec Roofing, Inc. submitted the erroneous revised quote containing the incorrect date + exclusion of the ridge vent to obtain township approval  (Exhibit B).  Janiec Roofing, Inc. misrepresented the agreement, so for Janiec Roofing, Inc. to say we lied, is libelous.

Additionally, when Mr. Chet J[redacted] was reminded of the agreed upon amount of $5200 for the total project, he stated that he wouldn’t do the job for that price and no one else would do it either.  He was told that we had a written quote for $5000 but he commented that it was probably from ‘a fly by night company’.  Subsequently, the competitor’s proposal was faxed to Mr. [redacted] to show that it was a legitimate quote; it was not a negotiation  tactic to match price.

In conclusion, on 10/17/17, Janiec Roofing, Inc. misrepresented the agreement when he submitted the revised quote (erroneously dated 09/11/17 + excluded ridge vent) after the job was completed.  Initially, we believed it to be an honest mistake on the part of Janiec Roofing, Inc., but has now turned into what may be a questionable business practice.  We still expect Janiec Roofing, Inc. to honor the agreed upon price and provide an adjustment for the missing ridge vent, a value of $450 based on a quote from a legitimate roof contractor.

She needs to call to set up an appointment so Chet can get into the house to see the damage.  We cannot pay for damages we have not seen.  Please call the office between 8-4pm to set up a day and time that works for both parties.  Thank you.

We stand by our previous statement and this matter is now being handled by our attorney who is filing suit.

We installed the roof on 6/10/15.  We don't know how it's possible that we broke a vent pipe a week later when we were not there, but we will gladly go look at the issue.  Please call the office so we can set up a time when someone will be home.
