The Chimney Doctor

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint I* ***, and have determined that their response was totally untrue and incorrect. They state that they installed a properly sized ovalized stainless steel, UL listed chimney liner to replace vertical run of flue. They did not. *** *** did not perform work up to *** *** Code (state violation). This was confirmed through an inspection done by another company and two phone calls to the *** *** *** and the *** *** *** *** Both calls were conference calls with the other company and my wife. Violations confirmed by the other company and the two professional organizations were: 1. Fireplace chimney is not up to *** Code.2. Liner is not all the way thru chimney.3. Firebox was cut into and daylight can be seen in chimney.4. Wrong liner is mounted for the size of the fire box. As a result of the of these violations, we had another chimney fire that we were not aware of. The other company that did the inspection has shut down our fireplace and has said that it has basically be ruined and will need to be completely replaced because of the above violations. Since we are not fireplace experts, there is no way that we could have just looked up into the chimney and seen that The Chimney Doctor violated code. We held up payment because *** *** did not bring a stainless cap to install. Not because we knew that the work done was incomplete or in violation of *** *ode. *** *** receipt says that it is lifetime warranty, but he refuses to honor the warranty or to accept guilt when he clearly has violated *** *** Code. In the Chimney Doctor was contacted by *** *** to evaluate the condition of his chimney after he had a chimney fire. During the inspection we noticed that the only damage was to the verticle run of x flue tiles lining his chimney. We provided an estimate to repair the damage
flue tile. We did not estimate for any repairs to firebox, smoke chamber or parged offset, because no damage was done. Our estimate stated we would install a properly sized ovalized stainless steel, UL listed chimney liner to replace verticle run of flue. The stainless steel liner is then cast in place with a poured insulated concrete. A cast in place is required to adhere to code and maintain the warranty. This repair was approved by *** *** and his homeowners insurance who paid for the repairs. *** *** held up payment after completion so he could use fireplace and make sure everything functioned properly. *** *** said everything worked fine and paid invoice. *** *** used his fireplace for years never having it inspected or cleaned, nothing in our repair could have caused a chimney fire. *** ***'s blatant disregard for proper maintenance led to chimney fire. All fireplace's and chimney's should be inspected every yearand for *** *** to claim ignorance on how to maintain a fireplace isn't a reason to blame someone else. From what I know, there was no damage done to his flue that we repaired or his home, Why? Because our repair worked.Sincerly,*** ***

After having a squirrel fall down our chimney we called the Chimney Doctor. He worked us into his busy schedule and tried removing the animal and when that didn't work he left ropes inside the chimney so the squirrel could crawl out. That was successful. Thanks to him the squirrel survived and we got our chimney checked. I would highly recommend the Chimney Doctor.
