Problem description:
My basement flooded on a night I had a migraine, I was unable to get out of bed because I was in so much pain. I texted my boyfriend and asked that he deal with it. My boyfriend contacted Darius at the cleaning source. My boyfriend explained to Darius I was sick in bed with a migraine on medication and unable to get up. Darius gave him a contract for me to sign. I don’t remember even signing the contract. My boyfriend advised Darius was pushing him to have me file an insurance claim. I wasn’t sure if I was going to due to previous claim I filed for tornado that impacted my rates. The next day Darius asked me for my insurance information and I told him I wasn’t sure if I was going to file a claim still. I asked him the cost of overall services and he said $4000-$4500. The following day I started smelling stuff in basement. I went downstairs and saw that Darius took all the blankets and other items out of my closet downstairs and put them on my good couch. He never told me I had any wet items that needed addressed downstairs. He hadn’t put up any of my furniture on blocks. I contacted him and Told him I was done with his services to remove his equipment. He told me I signed contract for him dry the basement out and that’s what he was going to do. When I arrived home he had ripped off all my baseboards, which tore up my drywall also. They could have been cut off with minimal damage. He punched holes all throughout the bottom of my drywall. I contacted my insurance agent to have them contact Darius to tell him I wanted him out of my house. Darius kept on making excuses why he couldn’t leave. I texted Darius to remove all his equipment from my house. After he talked to my insurance adjuster he said ok. I have our text documentation. When Darius left I once again confirmed the price of the services he did. He said around $4500. He ended up sending my insurance company a bill for double the cost. I had to hire a company to come in and cut out carpet because he did not dry it out fully and the smell was horrible. They also had to do a lot of drywall repair to fix his careless mistakes. Darius saw my flood as a way to make money off insurance. He decided to charge them double of the rate he quoted. If you call around the high end is $3985 Water mitigation. All he did was supposedly dry out my carpet, which wasn’t dry. He claimed it was. He also did way more damage to my walls than necessary. I have *** that will testify to all of this. I also have pictures that document what they did. Darius is upset my insurance company did not pay him his price gouging prices and is now harassing me by calling and texting me. I want this man to stop contacting me and realize what he tried to get away with is something that he should admit he was in the wrong for. If someone tells you to leave you leave. He planned to price gouge the insurance company from the beginning. He is upset that he didn’t get away with it. This man has no idea what he is doing when it comes to water damage. My insurance company is refusing to pay him because they said he did more damage to my house then he did in work.
