Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (2000, 6, 2015/09/16) */ After I sent additional emails (including to the General Manager), I was contacted on Tuesday afternoonThey figured out what had gone wrong: apparently the school district's card did not work and so they used the other available card on file (mine) to charge the cost, without notifying me or the school district that they were doing soThey said that they would use this experience as an opportunity to refine their procedures I spoke with them and they said that they had filed for the refund to my bank accountI reiterated my key complaints: There were several breakdowns in communication: I was not notified when the district's card was declined and mine was substituted, my call was not returned after Thursday 9/10, my call was not returned after Sunday 9/13, and I had to directly solicit contact on Tuesday 9/ While the workings of the banks are not under the control of the Commons Hotel, I am really frustrated that money was taken directly from my bank account without my authorization on 9/and I have been informed that it may not be possible to return it for another 5-business daysThis means that I have not had access to my own money for nearly two weeksIf I had not had a savings account to draw from, this means that I would have been late on personal bills through no fault of my own

After I sent additional emails (including to the General Manager), I was contacted on Tuesday afternoon. They figured out what had gone wrong: apparently the school district's card did not work and so they used the other available card on file...

I spoke with them and they said that they had filed for the refund to my bank account. I reiterated my key complaints:
1. There were several breakdowns in communication: I was not notified when the district's card was declined and mine was substituted, my call was not returned after Thursday 9/10, my call was not returned after Sunday 9/13, and I had to directly solicit contact on Tuesday 9/15.
2. While the workings of the banks are not under the control of the Commons Hotel, I am really frustrated that money was taken directly from my bank account without my authorization on 9/8 and I have been informed that it may not be possible to return it for another 5-7 business days. This means that I have not had access to my own money for nearly two weeks. If I had not had a savings account to draw from, this means that I would have been late on personal bills through no fault of my own.
