RevDex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Sincerely, [redacted]
October *, 2016Dear Revdex.com,Our mission is to create happy customersWe have come to an agreement and completely resolved this concern. For the record:AThe vehicle is a Dodge with 205,mile at time of inspectionBOn vehicles that we believe may have excessive
rust in and around the upper shock absorber mounts, upper front suspension and other under hood areas like engine mounts we frequently lift hoods during our New York state safety inspectionWe take our jobs very seriously, especially during safety inspections. CWe believe this was not the result of negligence on our part and is the result of a deteriorated latch and spring systemAnyone who closed the hood would have potentially put this vehicle and its driver in the same positionThe latch on any vehicle, especially a year old vehicle with over 200,miles on it, should have regular maintenance… for example, spraying the cable and mechanisms with WD-or similar, and thoroughly grease the latch mechanismThere was no grease or lubrication whatsoeverIt is dry and rusty (as evidenced in our picture)This creates a situation where the latch can hold the hood but sometimes not be fully engaged at the locking mechanismThis gives the appearance (or rather the FEEL) the latch is fully engagedThe vibration and forced exerted on the latch while driving can cause the mechanism to release and in this case the backup safety latch also failed.DThis truck is years old and upon inspection after the latch failed we did find corrosion in and around the latch areaUnfortunately it seems after leaving our shop the main latch may have releasedAt that time the backup safety latch should have caught the hood, it did notOur position is, for a hood to come completely unlatched there was probably some pre-existing damage or a faulty mechanismThat is why, considering a shared responsibility, we did offer to split the repair costs. We are pleased that we have come to terms with the customer and completely settled this concern. Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter and others like it, we appreciate you mediating. Regards,Oil Change Plus Management
