The Computer Repair King Reviews (4)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First and foremost, this is Ms [redacted], Mr [redacted]s fiance'. I am writing this as he is not sure what to say and as stated, this is about my computer, but as my fiance was getting it fixed for me and paying for it, he put in the first part on this. Just to let it be known, "quoted" parts of this letter are exactly that, quotes from Mr [redacted].Mr [redacted] states ---"I am [redacted], owner/computer repair technician of The Computer Repair King. I will be addressing Mr. [redacted]’s issues and complaints, however, we must remember a few things. According to my records, the invoice (#[redacted]) and the two customer receipts is from April 03, 2015.  All calls, with clients being informed at beginning of the call, are recorded for call quality and legal reasons. However, I did not receive another phone call by Mr. [redacted] until April 08, 2015 at 9:57 AM, according to my records. He states himself in that call, that they played music on the computer for 4 hours successfully. This was before trying to download WOW (WOW is a third party multilevel on-line game service that updates regularly). It was then the computer had issues. I told Mr. [redacted] then “Do you have the computer in front of you?” He stated, that it wasn’t on but he did have it there. I then told him “that’s a program he may not want on the computer and that I could walk him through uninstalling it, if he had time.” It was at that point that he basically stated he would do it later on by calling me. "Firstly WoW is a multi-user game yes and they do have  updates that help the game run smoothly and  properly when playing it. When asked if [redacted] had the computer in front of him, he honestly answered no as he is not very computer literate. He asked me if I wanted to talk to Mr [redacted] at the time and as I was hurting badly he told him we would have to call him back. Well we didn't try to call him back till we had some extra money so in case we would have to pay for some other things to be fixed as we didn't want to lose the computer for most of the month. Wow has not caused any problems on any other computer for me before this and as I also had tried to get on other websites, not just download WoW and had the same problem, the computer shutting down and restarting, then I don't think it is just a problem with the game.Mr [redacted] stated --- " I did not receive another call from either client until May 03, 2015 at 2:33 PM. This was nearly a month from date of invoice, at which time [redacted] restated the problem by leaving me a voice-mail. I tried calling that same day with no answer and leaving a voice-mail to contact me as soon as possible. I was not contacted again until May 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM.  This was nearly seven weeks from date of invoice."The call we put into him was on May 03, 2015 and I left him a voice-mail. Mr [redacted] did call me back that night and we set up a time to take the computer back to him within the next few days. I never had a voice-mail from him and it was not 7 weeks later that we got to him, it was only the beginning of May as we made sure we had some extra money in case.Mr [redacted] states ---"Now for the rest of the issues and complaints.Mr. [redacted], first stated in his complaint:“My fiancé…has a Sony Vaio laptop computer that he has fixed for her before. Well as she is out of work at the moment and I make the money I was doing this under my name. I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income, and [redacted], the computer repair guy, knew this.”According to my records, my actual client for this computer is [redacted], whom has been a previous customer and has been very happy with my service.  I did, however give Mr. [redacted] the 10% discount offered to all disabled veterans for an Operating system cleaning.  My normal price for this service is $150.00; Mr. [redacted] was charged $135.00. "Yes, this is my computer, and yes in the past I have been happy with his service.  But this time he took the money upfront, which I am not disputing the $85 he normally charges, those I understand, he cleans the computer both internally and externally as his normal price.  This time he charged us $135 for more than normal.  He even stated that he needed to charge $65 more for the work he said he could do.  And yes I do have an extra witness to this as my good friend Lynn was there as well and heard him state the prices.  He states ---"I received a call from her new fiancé Mr. [redacted], while out on the road servicing a client without my records available to me.  After verifying what computer it was that was in question, I went off of memory to the best of my knowledge."When Mr [redacted] called me back he stated that he had been out with his wife and at the movies when I left him a message, not out with a client.  I do understand not having his records with him at that time though.Mr [redacted] states ---"He continues stating in his complaint:“I called up [redacted] and asked him about this and he said something about he had changed the system reqs and he would walk us thru resetting them back to what they were.  As I am computer illiterate and my fiancé was tired and in pain we didn’t do it that night.  When we got the chance we took the computer back to him, and [redacted] stated to my fiancé that it was going to take at least $300.00 more to fix it and also that "it was wor[redacted] when it left here" indicating that we broke it.”First, I would never state or imply to any customer that they “broke it.” I was just stating a fact that at the time of pick-up it was fine, which all customers confirm with me that all repairs had been completed to their satisfaction by testing out their computer before leaving my office. He states that he returned the computer  backto me, however, according to my records that never happened." Well this is something that needs dealt with, when I have had my computers fixed by Mr [redacted], he has never let me test out the computer at his office to make sure things are working fine, he showed me a quick run thru, though it was his run thru not mine, then shut down the computer and packed it up.   He never took it onto the internet with us there to show us it was working on the net, and that was something I had specifically stated was a problem with it.  Also he is claiming that we never took the computer back to him.  Well if you mean took it back and left it with him, no we did not do that, but we did take it back to him, and he stated that it would take about 3/4ths the amount of getting a new computer to fix it and that it would not be a guaranteed fix.Mr [redacted] states -- "However the recorded conversation on May 23, 2015 at 12:52 PM is what I believe he is referring to.  It was during this call that I was out of the office and did not have records readily available to me and I was going off of memory. This is when I told him, “If I remember correctly that machine is running on Vista and you were thinking about replacing it. Is that correct?” He basically stated that they didn’t know if I could fix it. I then told him at that time that you can upgrade that Vista machine to Windows 7, but you have to buy the license…but you don’t want to upgrade you want to do a fresh install of Windows 7, otherwise you’ll get the worst of Vista with the best of Win 7 and it won’t be a stable system.” I then went on stating, “That’s why I thought you were considering buying a new computer because when you are done with that, it’s only $100 – $200 less than buying a new computer.” This amount is about ¾ of the cost of a new one.  He then stated, “It would probably be better just to buy a new one.” At which point he said goodbye and ended the call."Well one thing I can honestly say is this, my computers have NEVER been on Vista, EVER.  So this upgrading thing he is talking about is a crock.  Never was it on that nor would it ever be as I have had too many friends I know get Vista and get screwed by it.  I made sure when I bought my computers they had Win 7 or better on it.Mr [redacted]s states ---"He then states, “…when looking up his information on your website, it states that he is not Revdex.com accredited but yet on his business card it shows that he is.” As you may well know already, I have been an accredited member of the Revdex.com, since about 2009. I am just inactive at this time due to a lapse in payment, which I intend on correcting soon, as I plan on being a Revdex.com member until the end of my business."Well lapse in payment or not, when we checked it stated you were not an accredited Revdex.com member.Mr [redacted] states --- "I think his desired settlement (which is actually incorrect) states clearly why he has made this report.  I have records of calls and conversations with this individual as well as the invoice and receipts which will be forwarded to you upon request and I have no intention of reimbursing this individual. However, I am willing to uninstall World of Warcraft, do a complete operating system cleaning, and reinstall World of Warcraft at no additional costs concerning labor. This is of course provided that they have all data backed-up and they have any licenses needed for the OS cleaning and re installation of WOW. At that point, I will not be responsible for any further negative issues regarding this system, due to the fact that at that point I will consider it as a WOW issue. "I have never had an issue like this with WoW before on any computer, so I still state that this is not a WoW related issue.  I am not asking for the full price in return, I am asking for the $50 over and above the normal price that we paid for something that did not get fixed.

Here at the Computer Repair King we do our best to make sure that all our customers are treated fairly and that all issues with their computer systems that they have brought in have been resolved. We have on several occasions tried to help Mr. [redacted] & have helped Ms. [redacted] in the past with successful results and complete satisfaction with Ms. [redacted].When the system was received, we (the customer & I) went through a timely process to ensure that the system’s issues had been resolved. The customer agreed at that time that the computer system was fine. It was not until they tried to download a specific program that they started having issues again.Due to this fact, we feel that it was no fault of the Computer Repair King ([redacted]) that the system was having issues and that the job has been completed not only to [redacted]’s satisfaction, but the customers as well. Therefore, we feel that there is nothing more we can do to satisfy this customer. However, our previous offer still stands and if the customer is still willing to bring in the system within the next 3 – 7 business days then we will deliver our previous offer.Sincerely,[redacted]The Computer Repair King

Review: My fiance had referred me to this guy to fix the computer. She has a Sony Viao laptop computer that he has fixed for her before. Well as she is out of work at the moment and I make the money I was doing this under my name. I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income, and [redacted], the computer repair guy, knew this. He looked at the computer, stated that it would take $130.00 to fix the computer and would take about 2-4 days, he would call us and let us know when it was done, we paid for services upfront. When we got the computer back, we turned it on, played music on it for about 4 hours to make sure it was not overheating and then decided to download the updates from WOW so we could both be on computers at the same time. The download started, went for about 5 minutes and the whole computer shut down and restarted. Thin[redacted] this was a fluke we tried to restart the download, again the same thing happened. I called up [redacted] and asked him about this and he said something about he had changed the system reqs and he would walk us thru resetting them back to what they were. As I am computer illiterate and my fiance was tired and in pain we didnt do it that night. When we got the chance we took the computer back to him, and [redacted] stated to my fiance that it was going to take at least $300.00 more to fix it and also that "it was wor[redacted] when it left here" indicating that we broke it . We were discussing this and called him back to double check what was said and how it was meant and he flat out lied about it. When finding for sure which computer it was, he stated that we had had Vista on the computer and none of her computers have Vista. She has Windows 7 on all of them. Then when asked about what can be done, he stated he could fix it if we wanted to pay about 3/4 of what it would cost to get a new compter in total.

In contacting me you can speak with me or my fiance if you call as both of us were there when the contracting of the service and pic[redacted] up of the computer were done. Also he was on speaker phone when I called him both times so that way she could hear what was being said as well.

I also want to state that when loo[redacted] up his information on your website, it states that he is not Revdex.com accredited but yet on his business card it shows that he is.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back as he stated he could fix it and then did not
