Called back in October to inquire about a possible estimateThey immediately wanted to schedule itI asked repeatedly if there was a charge for an estimate and said I did not want one if there was (most reputable organizations give free estimates)They did not answer and proceeded to schedule someoneWhen they arrived, they said nothing about cost up front, but immediately began to give an (inflated) estimate for a bare minimum jobAfter completing the estimate, the gentlemen gave me a bill for $I told him the above story and said I had no intention to payI immediately called Halpin and recounted the same infoThe young lady I spoke with said she would talk to someone and let me know (although her attitude mostly indicated she had heard it all before and she just wanted me to pay)I have heard nothing from them since, and assumed the matter was settledToday I was left a message (convenient calling in the middle of the day when working folks aren't home—amazingly, no one answered when I returned the call at 4:p.m.) from a Lisa at Halpin regarding my, so-called, outstanding balanceShe claimed to have sent several emails, as if such amounted to some kind of legal notice (I've never received any such email), and wanted me to call and arrange payment so that they could avoid turning the matter over to collectionsI will not be bullied by scammers and will not pay for a service I did not authorize with knowledge aforehand of the costI suggest to all who might consider engaging these people that they take my experience into account and run the other way
Taylor did an excellent job He was very professional, answered all questions in a knowledgeable manner and he was very pleasant while performing a job which was made more difficult by the poor condition of the existing pipes His helper was also very good
I've used Halpin Plumbing twice now for some repair needs and both times they have been friendly, helpful, and reasonably priced and were able to get me in quickly I would recommend them to a friend
