Beware of the trial. Instead of being charged for a month after the trial period lapsed (as is the practice with most streaming services), I was charged 100 dollars for a year-long subscription. When I asked to cancel and be given a refund — or at the very least instead be charged for a month and refunded the 100 dollar year-long charge — I was told that was impossible.

Very predatory practices from The Criterion Channel. I signed up for a trial, and now I've spent 100 dollars on a channel I barely used when it was free.

Customer selected the annual option instead of monthly when signing up for the free trial on 7/11/20 (both options are available at checkout and option to switch between annual and monthly is available throughout the 14-day free trial from account settings). Free trial concluded 7/25/20 and an annual charge was made. Customer's account was disabled and a full refund was issued on 8/12/20. I paid for a gift subscription to the Criterion Channel on 4/*/20 (1 year for $99.99) and accidentally had them send it to the wrong email. I immediately emailed customer service and asked them to adjust the email it was being sent to. I did not hear back. I emailed again a few days later and did not receive a response. I contacted them on Twitter and they told me that they are a little bogged down and to be patient. Totally cool! Honestly, I know COVID is messing things up so I was happy to wait. But now it's been 2 weeks and I still haven't heard from them. Not even a confirmation that they have received my emails. I reached out again on Twitter and said I didn't really have any choice but to reach out to the Revdex.com and they said they'd check in on it. That was two days ago and they haven't responded since.

Hello,

The Criterion Channel social media team and customer service support teams, as well as third-party customer and tech support personnel from Vimeo OTT have all made several attempts to communicate with this customer. The gift subscription this customer purchased was subject to an error made by the customer, which has since been corrected on the customer's behalf. By their own admission they purchased a "gift subscription to the Criterion Channel on 4/*/20 (1 year for $99.99) and accidentally had them send it to the wrong email."

On April *** I personally reached out to *** /*** via email to assist and never received a response.

Vimeo OTT support has confirmed today, Friday, April *** that the gift subscription recipient's email address has already been corrected and that the gifted account is already activated and in use. As such any request for a refund will result in the immediate termination of the gifted account, in order for a refund to be issued.

We appreciate the patience of our subscribers and supporters - in resolving such issues, as our team is based in New York City and has been severely impacted by COVID 19. We are doing our best to respond to an unprecedented amount of support requests in the most timely and helpful manner. Below you will find a record all of the Twitter messages sent to us by *** as well as the full text of the email where I tried to assist them directly.

Company is fraudulent in its marketing practices. Offers 30% discount and when you check out you are charged full amount and can't stop the transaction.

The 30% discount was applied prior to the item being added to the cart and the customer had multiple opportunities to cancel the order prior to completing the purchase. The details of the discount and an offer to cancel the shipment with the warehouse (a rare exception) were communicated in emails sent from us on 4/14 and 4/16. The customer ultimately confirmed that they wanted the product shipped and it was delivered successfully on 4/22 with no further follow up from the customer regarding other requests or questions.

I bought a copy of the breakfast club and punch drunk love release on bluray by this company. the discs are defective. contacted them to see about getting a replacement but they refuse to help unless I pay to ship the discs in at my cost international shipping isn't cheap but they said to bad.

Thanks for contacting us regarding this complaint. From our records, I can see that this customer purchased Blu-ray Discs from a third party seller. Our staff has attempted to provide a replacement product, despite a lack of proof of purchase - conditional upon *** paying the associated shipping and handling costs. I have attached the only record of correspondence between *** <***> and our company. We have no direct purchase records under the name, email address, or physical address provided by ***. [Id be more then happy to provide u the amazon invoice for them. but I really don't see why I should have to spend my money to ship back defect movies shipping them back will cost more then the movies are worth. on top of that like what does it cost u to make a bluray 25 cents so why can't u just eat the cost and help out a customer with some replacements]
