Review: I was shopping at The Deals Center and bought a Area Rug.When I got the rug home it had 6 dead mice in it and 3 alive miceI have contacted the store and they said SALES ARE FINALAnd would give me store credit but why would I get anything from a mice infested store.I had mice in the car I brought it home in , had to have Oren out to my house to get rid of the alive ones.Had to clean and disinfect the whole house And they said NOT THERE PROBLEM SALES ARE FINAL!!!!!!!!If there is mice in the store there is cloths bedding if they leave droppings you can get very ill.Desired Settlement: Store closed to has food in it and is a public heath hazard the store is over stocked and a fire hazard

The Deals Center, LLC received the above-referenced customer complaint and appreciates the opportunity to respond.

On December 12, 2013, the Customer purchased two items from our store understanding that the products are sold in AS-IS conditions. Store policies signs are posted in clear and readable areas throughout our store and the Customer’s receipt clearly explained this.

Before the Customer paid for the merchandise our Assistant Store Manager (ASM), informed her that the items are sold AS-IS and suggested for the Customer to inspect both items to make sure it’s what she wanted. The Customer clearly stated she understood and paid for the merchandise.

On December 16, 2013, four (4) days later, the Customer returned to our store in an enraged manner and demanding us to refund her money because she supposedly found nine (9) mice in the purchased carpet. She stated, “If you don’t give me a refund then I’ll make sure this store shuts down and all you guys will be out of job.” Due to her demeanor, I was contacted via telephone, by our ASM to see what we should do. I informed our ASM to let the Customer know that even though the carpet is final-sale we’ll make an exception and give her store credit so she can use the credit to buy other things in our store. The Customer expressed outrage and left with her carpet without showing any evidence to support her story.

It is within our company’s guidelines that all merchandise must be inspected and meet certain standards before being displayed for sale in our retail store. Also, our staffs are trained to always encourage each and every customer to check their items prior to purchasing. Therefore, even though it’s such a tough story to believe, nine (9) mice in a rolled up and standing carpet, we tried being understanding and offered the Customer store credit. This offer still stands and the Customer is welcome to bring the carpet back within 30 days from this letter to get her store credit.
