Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint The Mechanic from this shop, Mel, has stated nothing that refutes my claim. I told them that we had had the code (check engine) pulled many times but could not get a reading just before bringing the car in the second time. I asked the shop if anything they had done during the first visit could have interfered with the car's computer and it's abilty to read the code. The code was easy to obtain a little while after picking up the car the second time I had also advised them that we been to one shop (***), not many, previously for the same code with unsatisfactory outcome. We kept being told, throughout, that auto parts stores read outs were not accurate despite our getting the same code over and over. Michels did perform a tune up as advised but this did not solve the issue that was the primary reason we brought the car in: fixing the problem the caused the code. The car can not pass inspection or be sold because of this. They danced around the EGR issue. If they needed replacement, I should have been advised of this upfront. Additionally, we NEVER had trouble starting this car. The first time the fuel pump went out, the car did not start at all and I had the pump replaced. It seems an unlikely coincidence that this would go out a second time just as we visited Michel's. I appreciate the time spent by the shop and the polite conversation but the complaint stands as the main, original problem was never accurately addressed nor the repair made. The car came out with a starting problem that we never had, as well. *** ***

In May of 2016- Mrs *** brought here car in for repairs complaining of it running rough, a check engine light, and to replace a broken fresh air tubeWhen we inspected it, the engine was leaking oil badly, which had saturated the belts and spark plug wiresThe fresh air tube was broken and
allowing unmetered air into engine, causing it to run lean There where no codes present for any EGR system malfunctionThe engine needed valve cover gaskets, and then replace plug wires/tune up with plug wiresI talked to MR *** about this and told him that we needed to do these repairs and then see what other issues might ariseI also questioned him if he wanted to spend this much money on the car, as in general, the car was older and not it great shapeOnce we started repairs, we had a difficult time because of previous repairs that where not done correctlyOnce we finished the repairs that I had quoted Mr ***, we discovered that the fresh air tube did not change the lean codes as much as we had hopedI talked to MR *** and told him there where no lean codes yet, but we need to do more work which he declinedThe car was picked up on May 20, 2016. June 10, 2016, Car was back with check engine light and extended crankCustomer stated they could not get any codes out of itWe then found a code for the EGR valve as well as the two lean codesWe tested fuel pressure and found it low and leaking down very quickly causing the extended crankWhen I talked to Mr *** then, he told me the cat had been to many shops and no one had ever been able to fix this EGR codeI believe Mrs *** even cam up to the shop and we went the many repair orders from other shops to decide what has been done previously, and what we need to do nowI personally went back over the EGR system and found crossed vacuum lines and the main cause of all these EGR issues, a blocked vacuum port in the intake manifoldI tried to unblock this port without removing the intake manifold, but was unsuccessfulMr *** declined any other repairs and picked up the vehicle .
