The Dog Port Reviews (1)

To Whom it May Concern:On 11/7 Ms. [redacted]'s dog was in our care for the day. Ms. [redacted]'s boyfriend, [redacted], called the Dog Port shortly after 2p and spoke with the manager on duty. He inquiring if their dog had a "bark collar" on, after seeing a photograph on our social media page. ...

The manager on duty informed Mr. [redacted], yes, their dog was wearing a no bark collar earlier because the dogs behavior was creating a disturbance in the daycare.  Mr. [redacted], picked the dog up from the Dog Port at approx 245p.  As soon as I became informed by the manager of the circumstance, I called Mr. [redacted], as requested, and left a message at 334p.  At 358p, I had a conversation with Mr. [redacted] and I provided additional information about the no bark device and details about the dog's behavior on  11/7/17.  During this conversation, I was informed that they were upset with the situation. I apologized that they were upset. As the business owner who truly values my clients, I never want to learn that a client is upset with the serves we provide. I also explained that we acted in accordance to our policy/procedure outlined in the signed waiver. In regards to the charge of $30.00 on 11/7/17, the client was not charged for services on 11/7/17 so no refund will be issued.  (See attachment "Receipt-[redacted]")The Dog Port offers a safe and structured environment for dogs to properly socialize.  Clients sign a waiver (see attachment "Daycare waiver") which states (see Sec.9) Owner further understands and agrees that Daycare reserves the right to use a bark control device, gentle leader, or training collar if Owner(s) dog creates a disturbance in day care or to the neighborhood.  We are not responsible for a client's oversight in not reviewing waiver, as client admits to in complaint.  We are however responsible to keep all dogs in our care safe.  If a dog continues to bark excessively, we manage the behavior responsibly.  If barking continues for extended period of time and can not be managed by our staff, for the safety of all dogs at daycare, a bark control device may be used.  Excessive barking causes unwanted arousal and can lead to dog fighting. It also causes a stressful environment for not only for the barking dog but for all dogs in our facility.  All Dog Port staff are professional trained in the accepted and established tools of the trade by the International Association for Canine Professionals (IACP).  These tools include, but are not limited to, leashes, harnesses, training collars, slip collars, prong collars, head halters, remote electronic collars, and electronic pet containment systems.  The tool in question was a no bark collar that was not misused on client's dog therefor stating our facility abused or abuses animals in our care is a false report of a crime. We have 4+ years in the dog daycare industry and I have over 5 years as a canine professional. I have never received a complainant of how we treat the animals in our care.Thank you for your time in reviewing and resolving this mater. Please let me know if there is any additional information I can provide.Sincerely,[redacted]Owner/Operator
