I have received your complaint #[redacted] by [redacted]. Our office did receive a holding deposit on 8/5/16 when she applied online. Though the system didn’t complete the hold as there was pertinent information missing, since money was left our office manually completed the hold...
for the requested apartment and began processing her application. Our office reached out to her on 8/5, 8/8 and again on 8/13, telling her that we were still processing her application and holding an apartment, but needed additional information for us to be able to consider it for approval. All of those requests went unanswered. On August 19th, she reached out to our office and said she wanted to cancel her application, as she assumed it had not gone through. Our assistant manager reminded her of our attempts to get in touch with her to ask for additional information, and that we were still holding an apartment for her. Our policy is that holding deposits are not refundable if you cancel after 72 hours after leaving it. The assistant property manager does not have the authority to override that policy, so when [redacted] asked for it back she told her she could not make that decision and she would need to speak to a manager. At that time, we were under the impression that [redacted] would be calling this week to discuss this situation with myself, the property manager. If she had called to speak to me, I could have given the approval to return her holding deposit. I have logged into our applicant portal and refunded this holding deposit, in the amount of $500.00. It may, however, take up to 5 business days to appear back in her account. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you. [redacted]Property Manager
