Remington Place Apartments located in Ft.Washington Maryland currently has no working Air Conditioning in either one of the apartment buildings despite we pay over $1300 a month for central air/heat and this is NOT subsidized housing. All residence are very upset and concerned for health reasons because for over a week now we have been suffering with the temperature outside being 80-90 degrees outside so inside our apartments feel like 100 degrees. Which makes it unbearable to live or even sleep. Many residents are very old and many have health problems like high blood pressure and asthma which makes it almost impossible to staying in our homes where we pay rent. When we reach out to the nasty rude property manager by the name of Jennifer we are constantly being lied to and told that the AC will be turned on May 15th which is NOT TRUE. The technicians working on the ac unit and the one of the maintenance men from the property are both telling the residence that the date given for the AC to be working is not the truth they advised we will be with out any working AC until the end of May possibly even June due to the property owner waiting to late to change out a old bad ac unit. With this very hot weather returning its going to be impossible for us to live safely. The elevators in our buildings are always broke and we constantly get stuck inside the elevators sometimes we have even had to call 911 and have a fire rescue team rescue us out after being trapped for an hour. This is not good safe living and the property manager Jennifer is very rude and nasty to tenants and even her employees in which they also complain about how horrible she is to them. Something needs to be done because paying residence should not feel this way or be treated like this its not fair to us. I'm currently a government employee and active in the military and hope I wont have to escalate this matter any further.

Review: I have contacted The [redacted] Apartments on several occasions inquiring about my security deposit. I was given the run-around before being contacted by a collection agency. I'm being billed for 2-months rent because someone lost my move out notice. When I contacted the property manager, I was given no solutions nor did they except the blame, instead the insisted it was my fault. The customer service was horrible when icalled to diffuse the issue and due to the lack of professionalism and communication I would like to see the entire situation disappear.

Synopsis:My name is [redacted], I was once a resident at The [redacted] Apartments in [redacted], Maryland. Due to my profession, I have to remain in a safe environment and act accordingly; I am a member of the United States Air Force. I had standards and your staff in 2012 exceeded my expectations with their professional attitudes, your staff was very personable when I moved in. My first year at The [redacted] Apartments I was very pleased. I was notified in a timely manner of my lease ending and any maintenance issues were fixed within a matter of days. The neighbors were friendly and the grounds were well kept.

I rented the 2-bedroom apartment, building [redacted] apartment [redacted], from June 2012 to June 2014; I decided to leave the property because the neighborhood no longer felt like home, and it was no longer a calm and serene environment. There were other renters in the neighborhood that moved in that did not respect the fact that others lived in the complex. There were people hanging outside all times of the night, smoking marijuana and drinking to point of being inebriated. I lost respect for the property because my life was being interrupted by the actions of my neighbors. I did complain and nothing ever changed. Being completely unaware of the 60-day move out notice, due to everyday life, I requested to move at my 30-day mark, 2 May 2014. My lease ended on 7 June 2014 and I was no longer pleased with the community or most of the staff at The [redacted] Apartments.

According to the LANDLORD’S AND TENANT’S NOTICE OF VACATING, the landlord is required to give the tenants a notice 60-days prior to the commencement of a rent term. There was never a notice given for me to re-new my lease. I walked into the leasing office on or about 22 April 2014, I talked with Mr. S[redacted] about not receiving my renewal letter as I had done the previous year. Note: the previous year I was only given a 1-page letter, not all the documents in the lease I signed in 2012. He assured me that it SHOULD have been mailed to me. My response was that I had not received it. At that time, I informed Mr. S[redacted] that I was interested in moving out and I expressed my reasons why. He in turn han6ded me the Move-out Notice request form and advised me to complete and return the form as soon as possible. After discussing the move with the other lease holder ([redacted]), we decided to move. I returned my completed form on or about 2 May 2014 to a Hispanic looking female; she was the only one in the office. I asked if there was anything else I needed and she said no. I noticed that she was new to this leasing office because I had never seen her before. Not thinking of getting a copy I left thinking everything was alright.

Since leaving the property, I have contacted Liza on several occasions about my security deposit. I did not get the opportunity to talk to Liza everytime I called and she never returned my calls. First conconversation held in July, I was told it would be mailed within 60 days. The second conversation held in August, I was told it was mailed off. The toys time speaking with Liza, she informed me that my deposit was taken because I gave no notice when moving out. I didn't get upset because I did give a 30-day notice prior to moving. [redacted] recieved a phone call from FMS Finacial Solutions, the representative stated that we owed $2,653.83. Unsure of why, [redacted] went to the rental office and that visit was not successful. I contacted Ronnie on 22 September 2014, she informed me that because they did not have my move out notice on file I would be charged for 2 months of rent, hence the balance owed. My argument to her was that I should not be penalized for someone on her staff loading my documents. she never addressed that possibility, she stayed "I've looked at the folders around yours and I could not find the notice" and continued to say there was nothing she could do.

I am appalled that the only answer for me is that I can't be helped; I have never paid rent late or caused any issues during my time at The [redacted] Apartments. With all the stressers of being a military member fighting for the freedom of the very people that are giving me a hard time with solving what seems to be a misunderstanding, this has me baffled. I will never recommend a service member to move into apartments owned by The Donaldson Group if this is the treatment law-abiding citizens receive. It saddens me that I'm complying and conversing with Liza and Ronnie and they insist on blaming me for their staff mistakes.

-[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like to see the debt settled with the deposit I was never given back.
