Review: In August of 2009, I was a student at Sacramento State and became a resident of The Element apartments with a 1 year lease contract that my parents signed for. I fulfilled the terms of my lease which expired in August 2010. I thought that I'd be able to lease the apartment for the 2010/2011 school year and indicated that to the office staff at The Element in early June of 2010, at which time they made me sign some paperwork, although my parents were the ones who assumed legal responsibility for my rent. Unfortunately my mother fell ill shortly afterwards and money became an issue. So as a family we decided that I would not be returning to the apartment and would instead have to commute. Around the same time (June 15th), I received a standard letter from The Element, about lease renewal or filling out the notice to vacate by July 1st if my intention was not to stay. I filled out the notice to vacate and turned it in to the office on 6/20/10 and was told that this was all I needed to be squared away. Sadly I've been hounded by a creditor who is seeking a year's worth of rent from me on The Element's behalf and I now have a mark on my credit for an issue that is clearly shouldn't be mine. Please help me to clear this up. I have the documentation needed to prove my point and have tried to no avail to work this out with The Element and the credit bureau. Please help. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I've tried unsuccessfully to work this issue out with both The Element Apartments and the collections agency. This is clearly an error on their part and I shouldn't be penalized for it. I've even spoken to a credit bureau agent who said that what they are doing is against the law because they are double dipping in trying to solicit money from me, while the apartment was rented to someone else almost immediately after I vacated it when my contract was up. Please help get my credit record cleared.

Review: To whom it may concern:

Please find enclosed information referencing our daughter's ([redacted]) recent apartment rental, (126B) at the Element apartment complex for the past two years ([redacted]). When she checked out, we cleaned her side of the apartment and the common room for a week to ensure it was totally cleaned. We even used the carpet cleaners to clean the apartment that Element uses and have proof to show of this. We have attempted various times to find out why $72.50 for cleaning was deducted out of our security deposit of $99.00. What particular cleaning was done which was never listed on an invoice.

We would appreciate your help in answering our question in regarding the difference in the amount refunded to us. ($26.50 vs $99.00). Samia Javaid was the contact person at Element apartments for security deposit refunds. We asked what were the particular items that they cleaned and she never responded to our requests.Desired Settlement: We would appreciate your help in finding out why $72.50 was deducted from our refund on the apartment deposit of $99.00. This was AFTER we paid to have this apartment cleaned at our expense. We find this extremely disturbing as we left the apartment in better condition than when our daughter first moved in.

Thank you very much,

[redacted], **.
