Review: After being a faithful member of [redacted] Gym, I attempted to cancel my membership after finding out about a move in July 2014. I canceled my membership in July of 2014, where I have a time and date stamped email confirmation that the cancellation did occur. The cancellation policy outlined in my initial contract does not make me eligible for reimbursement for the months of July or August, but I was told that my contract and membership was indeed terminated, effective on July 17th, 2014. On September 1st, 2014, I was again charged via automatic banking draft for September dues. To rectify the situation, I attempted to contact Kristen, the head of billing AND the general manager, several times. It took many tries, as Kristen did not call back, did not respond to emails, and seemed to always be "on break" or out of the office. Once finally talking to her during a rude conversation, she did confirm that my membership was cancelled, and issued a check to refund my banking account for the month of September via postal mail.During this conversation, I asked if I would be able to talk to her manager, to which she replied: "I am the manager". On October 2nd, 2014, after not receiving a refund check via postal mail for the month of September, I was charged AGAIN for the month of October. I again talked to Kristen, where she stated that she was "unable to delete my banking information from the system". She also stated that perhaps the check for the month of September was lost in the mail, because "didn't I move to Mexico?". I moved to New Mexico. The mail transit time from Washington, D.C. to New Mexico is 4 business days, since it is indeed domestic. I have contacted [redacted]'s corporate offices, which referred me back to the gym location, as this company is a franchise.When asked how best to resolve this unacceptable situation, Kristen suggested reporting the charges as fraudulent to my bank. I am at a loss of what to do next.Desired Settlement: Complete refund for September and October membership dues, permanent removal of my banking information from [redacted] Gym's information systems, and monetary compensation in the form of 2 months membership for my time and reduced productivity at my workplace for attempts to resolve this issue.
