Review: I was riding the metro talking with my sister when she noticed that my speech had started slurring. She immediately told me to call 911 and get off the metro. The ambulance picked me up and I was admitted on Thursday, March 20, 2014 to George Washington University Hospital at 900 23rd St NW, Washington, DC 20037. The doctor was [redacted] and the nurse was [redacted] at [redacted]. The doctor informed me that I had a major stroke. I knew this was my 7th stroke and the third major stroke. The doctor kept me under strict observation until I was transferred to the Stroke Unit on Sunday, March 23rd 2014. There was extreme concern because they could not get my heart rate to stabilize at 140 and there was blood still present at the stem of my brain. The blood is still leaking and my heart rate increased again when a non-English speaking tech entered room [redacted] on Tuesday March 25, 2014. She pked my finger and tried to give me an insulin shot. I pulled my finger away and I asked her why because I do not have diabetes and have you read my chart. The tech just ran out the room. I was very upset and afraid for my life and I called the police. The police officer arrived and he took the report and also mentioned a similar concern occurred in the Emergency Department before he came to my floor. This caused my blood pressure to go up and I was very weak. I demanded to speak with my doctor who was not there until the next day and the nurses could not explain why the tech was in the stroke unit administering medicine when she could not speak English. When I stated that I was concerned for my life. There was no concern. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 the doctor finally showed up and explained that the tech was in training and was separated from her trainer. My blood pressure still could not be stabilized and there was still blood on my brain that had not stopped. By Thursday since I was still asking questions about the tech and that I did not feel safe in the Hospital. The Hospital released me at 6:30 pm. I asked for medication because I had a severe migraine but they just gave me my prescriptions and said that I needed to get them filled. I was not given a wheelchair and was told to leave they needed the bed. I was stuck riding a crowded elevator while another white patient was rolled in to be taken to their vehicle. My vision was blurred and I had to struggle to make it to my ride on my own. Friday, March 28th 2014 my blood pressure is over 180 over 115 and my migraine is worst and I am trying to find another Hospital that will admit me. I have been out of work and my job at [redacted], North Carolina [redacted] and phone number is ###-###-#### stated that this was an act of God and will not pay the workman compensation even though I had the stroke at work. I need assistance immediately because I am forced to return to work because I have no funds and I am having to drive myself and I can‘t see out of one eye and have limited amount of movement on my left side and severe migraines if that concerns anyone.Desired Settlement: I desire that the Hospital pay to for my outpatient care provided by a specialist that I prefer and can provide the proper therapy for recovery. If necessary then readmitted at a decent Hospital that cares about their patients.
