Contracted with The Glass Guru to install new windows. There is a warranty issue not resolved and the permit has expired with no inspection.
A quote for 9 new windows to be installed was finalized in May 2018 with installation during July and August of that year. A permit was issued for this work by the City of Palm Bay. The inspection for the windows was never scheduled by the Glass Guru. A warranty issue with a balance for a window has not been resolved. The Glass Guru is non-responsive. I have called then for the past 8 weeks and phone calls have not been returned. I was told by their employees that the permit would be re-issued and the warranty item would be repaired but cannot get an answer back from them about either issue.

Desired Outcome

The warranty issue needs to be addressed and completed. The Glass Guru has to file and pay for the permit that expired. The Glass Guru has to schedule an inspection of the windows to close out the permit by the City of Palm Bay.

We have taken care of everything in this. There shouldn't be any more complaint.

I had to order the replacement parts that were under warranty from the window manufacturer. The window manufacturer scheduled a representative from their company in Pennsylvania to come to Florida and replace the defective parts. The Glass Guru must have received word from the window manufacturer to take care of there warranty issues. They finally called after three months of not calling to schedule the warranty work which took all of 15 minutes to repair.
I would not recommend The Glass Guru for any work for anybody. They are non-responsive and do not abide by their contract warranty's. If I had not contacted the window manufacturer the warranty work would still not be completed.

There were 2 issues. One was a permit expiring. The other was a simple balance replacement. There is no "contract warranty" We were originally sent the wrong parts and were perfectly willing to handle the labor. The permit has been re-issued. There is nothing left for us to do. My apologies to Mr *** for his inconvenience. If there is anything left to resolve this complaint we will be happy to accommodate at no charge. It is my understanding that everything has been handled.

I had a broken window from a bad storm we had. I called the Glass Guru and explained the situation and they sent someone out the same day. He was very knowledgeable and helped me get my window fixed the next day! The customer service was excellent and the price was fair. Very impressed with this company!

Great business to work with.

We ordered and paid a deposit of $10,000.00 for window replacement our home, with contract for installment end of November 2017. When I called the company beginning of December they told me one arch window was not ready and delay till 29th December for delivery and install 2nd January...
No calls from company so called company and told weather problems would delay arrival of complete order till 5th January with install on the 8th.... today the 8th we have been informed the order came in win the patio door missing on backorder... company have no information when patio door will be available or shipped from Virginia... Not good enough... they cashedour check back in mid October and I have asked for my check to be returned so I can go ahead with a respectable business and have this job completed on my home. The company does not call us at all, we have to call them, today is the first time they have bothered to call us with the information of the door missing from order...

This complaint has been handled and some windows have already been installed in customers home and the remaining windows are set to be installed in a few weeks. As far as we are aware there is no longer any complaints that need to be addressed.

The company has promised us the windows will be installed next week.... we should find out on Monday what day the install will happen.... Hopefully they will live up to their promises....

I requested an estimate to replace windows, entry door and sliding glass door in Nov 2017. After several weeks and 3 phone calls asking when I would receive an estimate they finally sent a partial estimate that was not very detailed (no mention of a separate install fee etc). When I contacted them once again to ask about choosing the glass for the entry door, the person I spoke with was unclear as to what door I wanted! (It had been quoted but she had no idea what it was or what it looked like!). I had to send her a picture of another door similar and then took the time to pick out the glass that I wanted. I emailed this back promptly....have still not hear anything back from Glass Guru. They clearly have no interest in doing business and I now hesitate giving them any business for fear that they won't bother to show since I had to chase them down just to quote and they couldn't even complete that!

The Glass Guru Response • Jan 11, 2018

We take responsibility for not getting back to her quicker but we were attempting to locate a door similar to the one she wanted since we do not carry the brand or style she was looking for. The door that she wanted was not available to us so we explained what we could do and gave her an estimate based on that. She called the office and spoke with the office staff about the Craftsman door again and since we do not deal with that brand or style door they were not sure what she was talking about. She emailed the office photos of the door and picked out glass from our vendors catalog but. We emailed her back letting her know that we were not able to get that style door the only thing close we could do would be a door with a single rectangular opening at the top but that none of the options she had picked for door inserts will work with that style door. Since customers do tend to get multiple estimates from contractors when we never heard back from her we thought she had gone with another company that could get her the style door she was looking for.

Customer Response • Jan 12, 2018

This company's response is inaccurate. They DID provide a quote for the door, so I was quite puzzled as to why they suddenly didn't know what I was talking about. Secondly, I NEVER received any email stating that they could not get the door requested. And since they had provided a quote for it, who would assume otherwise?? Considering that we have emailed previously, it would be hard to say that they had a bad email address. I'm very disappointed in this company, the staff over the phone, and the lack of customer service.

Simonton Reflections 5500 windows were installed for the entire home approx 2 years ago. New drywall, new paint. Now with moisture.
I called the company when it was discovered as I had wetness in carpet to ensure that windows were placed properly. As this entire area in living room was re-stuccoed and painted Feb 2015. They sent out someone who told me it was because the caulking was applied too heavily over the weep holes. I reminded him it his company who applied the caulking. He dug out the weep holes more completely and applied more caulk. However, the moisture and initial responsibility of installation was not addressed. An inspector from the insurance company came out and said there was no way that the floor flooding could have seeped up the drywall through the window side panels as it is greater than 4 feet.

Desired Outcome

I would like another person to visit my home and evaluate the damage without assumming it was related to caulking. I am down to concrete rather than former wall to wall carpet in the living room due to wetness from the storms.

The Glass Guru Response

As per our conversation the other day we did address the issue with Mrs ***. The owner of The Glass Guru of Melbourne went to her residence and it was determined that the window we installed was not the problem after all. The issue was from a door that another company installed. Please let me know if there is anything else you need from us.

Thank you,

Mary

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I appreciated the owner coming out. The facts are not quite correct. It was not determined what caused the leakage into the wall area. There is not a door by this window. However, I appreciated the responsiveness. It was never determined why the walls were wet but I accept that perhaps because it is an older home there are ways for moisture to get in.
