There was nothing that we could do for Mr***. There is a valuable piece of information that Mr*** is not disclosing on this complaint. The contractor, Zip’s Landscape, went back to the home multiple times to fix complaints by the ***s and every time they agreed to it
being completed. In a short period of time, they would go back after Zips and try to get more work done. So after the last attempt to please them, *** ***, had the ***s sign a very detailed agreement releasing them from any further liability on everything done at their home. It was agreed upon and signed by the ***s. Afterwards they came after us for our guarantee and we could not force the contractor to do anything further with the signed agreement that everything was completed and they were satisfied. Our terms and conditions say that we will get involved if there is an issue and will come to the home, with the contractor, and with another contractor to inspect the work. However, we did not get the opportunity to get involved before the ***s signed an agreement that all work was completed to their satisfaction and paid the contractorWe have had a perfect reputation and have never once dodged something that we were responsible for, but this is clearly not handled correctly by the ***s and we should not have this complaint reflect on our spotless profile. If you need a copy of all the correspondence we had between them and copies of the agreement, we can surely provide it to youThank you! *** *** *** Founder/CEO The Good Contractors List, Inc

Sir, I can only assume that your parents hired a locksmith to remedy a door that had a problem with the lock and not that they wanted to hire someone to remodel their door before they got their foundation repaired. My customer service representative told me that you were yelling at her and I have no reason to doubt that she was telling the truth. As I said before, the contractor did what was necessary for your parents to lock the door and the pictures you provided shows that he moved the plate into a position that would allow the door mechanism to latch. It was obviously a temporary repair made to get them through till they got their foundation repaired. It was a foundation problem that caused the door not to lock, as proven by them actually hiring a foundation repair company to level their home after the locksmith did the temporary fix. The contractor told us that he explained to your parents that the fix would only be temporary until the house was leveled and that they would have to fix it back after the house was leveled. I have no reason to doubt that he is telling the truth, because it makes absolute sense. What doesn't make sense and what I can't believe is that he just decided to alter the door on his own free will without asking your parents. I'm sorry you think that we are somehow dishonest and willing to risk our reputation (and my own personal integrity) over your dispute for less than $200, but I don't see where the locksmith did anything wrong or where we are responsible to give you money and I won't let a public complaint force me to start writing checks that are not warranted

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:1) GCL never completed their process - no representatives evaluated the work or assessed the damage. 2) Agree that the locksmith was hired because the door would not lockMy parents anticipated a knowledgeable and competent technician, not someone who would cause wholesale damage to the door, doorframe, and thresholdIt is that damage we seek to have remediedIt's unfortunate that *** *** claims agreement by my parents - they deny any such conversation.3) *** *** continues, via email and now in his response to this complaint, to make inaccurate statements - this time asserting that I called an yelled at his staffOur request has and continues to be that GCL repair the poor workmanship of their contractorThey continue, as evidenced in this reply, to deny any culpability or to fulfill their warranty obligation

We handle complaints on a regular basis and have never shirked our responsibility There is no one in our office that would tell a homeowner that we would pay to fix something site unseen without going through our process The contractor was hired by this gentleman’s parents because
their door wouldn’t lock He explained to them that it appeared they have a foundation issue and that any repair would only be temporary They agreed and asked the contractor to make the repair They then hired a foundation repair company to fix their foundation The contractor could have walked away and told them they need to hire a door repair person, but he did what any good person would do and fixed it so their door would lock We told the son who made this complaint that once the foundation was repaired we would help them find a contractor that could fix anything that might have shifted and needed repairs NOT that we would pay for repairs to anything Even though it makes absolute sense that our contractor did nothing wrong he still called and yelled at my staff and made his demands We take responsibility, without bias to age, gender, financial status, physical limitations, etc, if it is an issue with our contractor doing something wrong and not fixing it However this was clearly not the case in this complaint

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Damage was done by the GCL supplied contractor and remains unresolvedThe GCL warranty remains unmet while the owner remains intransigent
Regards,
