I ended up here after changing a previous reservation elsewhere in the area (and the extended dates weren't available).
The nightly rates here were absolutely outrageous ($200 plus). Upon arrival, I was shocked to see the entire place under renovation - which was not stated anywhere.
Although the renovated room was an improvement from their previous look (mid 90's, bland), it did not justify the malicious price-gouging.
The room felt as though it were completed 5 minutes prior to arrival. The smell of paint as you walked in. The carpet already had a stain on it by the bedside table. The room felt empty... no mini-fridge, nothing on the wall (as per the site's photos), the bedside lamps were from the last look. The towels were cheap (felt like rags), the bedding was low-end. Water pressure was weak. And construction starting around 8AM.
I was offered a measly gas card voucher upon check-in. I wish I'd requested a hefty discount. The websites photos are a lie. I'd have appreciated free laundry, instead of having to use their pay machines.
Truly a disgrace.

Review: This hotel was advertised on Expedia.com, as we were looking for a place to stay in or around Santa Barbara for my niece's First Communion. The pictures taken on both the hotel website, as well as Expedia were gorgeous; beautiful landscape, pool and bar areas, outside lighting, gorgeous rooms etc (all of which I have printed out; as well as the actual pictures that I took as proof of fraud/false advertising)It was about 10pm, my children were exhausted after a long day at a party. Having never been in the Goleta area, we used navigation to get us there in the dark. Navigation said we had arrived and we could not believe our eyes. We could not even see a hotel because the concrete, which was suppose to be the parking lot, was uprooted from the ground, along with various construction vehicles, dumpsters, trash, kitchen sinks, overflowing trash etc. As we drove in, there was a temporary sign saying hotel office, pointing to a hotel room. We pulled up and the "office" was in a hotel room, with 2 computers, cords everywhere and a card table holding them; along with 2 women, one who could barely speak English. As I stepped in, another customer was trying to get a refund for his room as well, so that he could leave. He was denied the refund as I was. Immediately, I demanded a refund for obvious reasons; complete false advertising, disgusting grounds/amenities, lack of professionalism- basically a complete FRAUD. Not only was I refused a refund, I didn't even STAY there and was charged. The company now refuses to refund my money.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund, along with any additional bank fees I was charged. I also believe I should be compensated for then having to find another place to stay at almost midnight with small children. Since it was same day reservations, we had to pay a large amount for two reasons; being in the Santa Barbara area where it is expensive and seeing as we needed the hotel right then, prices were spiked as compared to reserving them ahead of time, as to get a deal. I am infuriated beyond belief.

Review: I booked two rooms at Hotel Goleta based on the information posted on their website for March 29, 2014. The reason we selected Hotel Goleta was based on the photos on their website which included state of the art equipment, beautifully decorated rooms, manicured landscaping and a beautiful clean outdoor swimming pool. The description, amenities and photos of the rooms and the outside were extremely misleading. Upon arriving, we discovered that the hotel was in the middle of a huge construction/remodel which was never disclosed on their website nor when we spoke with the staff prior to day and morning of arrival. The rooms lacked fundamental necessities such as towels to not working TV's, old linens. Basically, the pictures are completely false and almost look like they are pictures from other hotels. I disclosed my discontent with the Guest Services representative. I asked if she had been on their website recently and she stated no. I informed her that I was completely dissatisfied with our stay and felt mislead based on the website. Her response was, "I'm sorry" and then she proceeded to ask me questions about the wedding that I had attended. We spent $340 after being mislead and know that other guests will be experiencing the same false advertisement.Desired Settlement: I would have never stayed at Hotel Goleta in its current condition. I am asking for a 50% refund for the 2 rooms based on the misleading and false advertisement and lack of professionalism which led my family including children in having an awful experience.

Review: I stayed with my family at Hotel Goleta for my graduation. I booked through the hotel directly and on Hotels.com (trying to get the best price). The website and hotel directly did not indicate the hotel was under major renovation. I was called a week before my travel dates and informed that the hotel rooms I had booked (two doubles) were unavailable and only kings were available. This was difficult given there was suppose to be multiple people in the room and I had prepaid on hotels.com for those double beds. The hotel indicated they would compensate and provided some discount, however when I went to the hotel day of check it it was a mess. There was full on construction with dirt, power drills, work trucks, and detritus on the entire property (the "lobby" was in trailer). I was positioned in a room with construction occurring directly on the other side of my room. Additionally, the shower had half a glass door that did not move. The door was positions where the water handle was so one had to get into the shower to turn on the water and because the back half had water coming out it made the ground wet and slippery (very dangerous). On the day of my graduation I left in a dress that was covered in dirt by the time I made it to my car due to the massive amount of dirt in the air from the construction. On top of this, my parents upon check out were told the cost of their one night purchased through the hotel was taken care of since the 2nd night was booked through hotels.com and this was the "deal" they arranged given the problems with the hotel. My father asked for a receipt to confirm and staff assured that he owed nothing with one even writing a note. He then went home looked on his billing statement and was charged despite not authorizing the charge. In sum, the hotel was not ready for guests, was going through intensive construction that was lasted all day starting early in the morning, and the hotel promised discounts it did not provide charging without authorization.Desired Settlement: I would have never booked this hotel had I known the hotel was under renovation in the first place...the website suggested it had already recently been renovated not that it was still being renovated. What is appalling is that I paid around $200 a night to hear jack hammers and walk through dirt clouds! I want a complete refund. In total my family and I paid $710. I want this ALL refunded.
