The Granite Guy Reviews (6)

This company promised granite countertop finish and installation on a given date When no one showed up we called only to find out they did not even know what granite we had selected The promised delivery the next day, but again could not find the granite we selected days later we visited the shop again only to find that OUR granite was gone We stupidly selected another piece of stone, and again were promised an installation date This guy has more excuses for failing to show up than any company I have ever worked with In the end, they got it done, but they caused us to postpone our photos shoots for selling our house times Promise after promise was met with excuse after excuse He said he "dry sealed" our granite at the shop, but his guys used acetone to clean the granite at our house The internet says that removes sealer But would he make any effort to compensate us for the continual delays and failed promises? NO Anyone who chooses to use this guy can

We initially contacted The Granite Guy several months ago for a remnant; unfortunately there was nothing in stock that met our dimensions Having forgot we even submitted a drawing to these guys, Kurt called us back asking if we were still searching for a remnant We ended up with a fabricated piece of granite for a great price We did the install ourselves, but the fabrication team here did a great job! Kurt even let us borrow his A-frame to get the granite safely home
This piece of granite was the last bit of our kitchen remodel and sits beautifully on a window sill If ever we need a piece of granite again, we will be returning here! Thanks Kurt and team!

Professional, friendly, timely, courteous and quality work

Was not told that there would be a 'seam' in the counter-top. The two pieces of granite are not the same height which leaves a 'lip' that catches anything slid across that part of the counter-top. The installer told me he couldn't do anything to buff it down because of the 'black' color of the granite. Another tech came out to try and make it look better but he could not and told me the same thing - that a black granite could not be buffed out.
This should have be checked when the granite was cut out. Both ends meet at the same height so why is it that the middle does not?
Beware if you need to have a seam - find a company that will make it match! We didn't ask enough questions and assumed we would have a professional looking counter-top.

Some customers cant be pleased no matter what you do.  This customer came in and did select some stone with one of our employees.  He was given a quote (which he accepted) on price and made the request that it be installed late in the following week.   As it was a smaller job we use...

those as fill work and it was explained to him as such.  It is true that one of the pieces we marked for him was misplaced or marked incorrectly, and we searched diligently for it.  It should also be noted that he had no recollection of what the piece was or what it looked like other than it was "Brownish with a broken edge"  When I say we looked diligently, I searched ALL of our cut programs.  I as the owner of the company looked through every remnant  that we have several times, as well as every piece we programmed out to cut in the time frame that he was in the shop.  Additionally I had the sales person go through everything a multitude of times also.  Additionally we shot pictures of potential pieces, some of which he looked at and one that he finally chose at a later date.   Here's what I know.  We didn't cut a piece that matches his description, nor could he even describe what it looked like.  From a professional standpoint I believe he simply forgot what it looked like, and from a personal standpoint I believe he was more interested in making us wrong versus picking out another piece for a house he was selling and moving on with life.We were originally set to install on Friday, and his vanities were set to enter production on Thursday.  This is when we found the issue with the smaller vanity stone not marked and unable to locate.  We immediately informed the customer about the issue and offered for him to come and select another piece.  We received no answer to both voice mails and text message.  we did proceed to fabricate the master vanity and it was ready for install as promised.  We finally did get a hold of the customer and he was beyond furious.  He was spewing expletives left and right and cancelled the entire order and hung up on me.  Honestly I should have fired him as a customer and went on with my day but I am committed to customer service, so I sent him photos of his master vanity that was sitting complete, reminded him that he did hire us and cant simply fire us without paying for the stone.  He finally calls back I gave him 3 choices.  1)  He could pay us for this vanity we fabricated, and the sinks, I would deduct the cost of the install, and demo, and he could hire someone else to install.  2)We could come and install the master and he could pay for it in full, and we could deduct the cost of the second vanity, and he could hire someone else to do it. 3)he could come to my shop reselect another piece of stone and we would fabricate and install it as promised.  He chose option 3, demanded we be to his house and done installing the master before 12.00 (it was already 1030) as he was leaving to go on vacation.  My install crew left and drove strait to his house for the install.  We completed shortly after 12 as promised, and as far as I know he went on vacation. He came back a week later, came into the shop.  selected stone and we put his job into production.  He was on a first available basis to get hie vanity in, and with any shop, I dont have guys just standing around.  I had no openings to actually schedule his install for 2 weeks, but told him that I would make a spot for him.  he was in Monday afternoon. I told him we would install near the end of the week.  We fabricated the vanity right away, and it was ready for install.  I tried for Thursday afternoon and we ran long on another install, so we scheduled it for the first stop the following day.  We had a late start due to unforeseen circumstances, but he was still the first stop.  He cussed me out again.  Cussed my help out.  He was the first stop, and we did get him installed as promised. For compensation.  He ordered additional stone in his master bathroom which we gave him for free (150.00 value) and we comped him the 15 year sealer he wanted (also 150.00).  We didnt charge the additional trip charge even though there was no reason to make 2 trips (normally 100)  If we added the trip charge it would be over a 20% discount from his original invoice.  I believe The Granite Guy compensated him accordingly   As for the Joint and quality of workmanship.  He knew the joint would be there and it is very smooth, we offered to top polish it if they would like and his wife declined as they were selling the house.  We submitted his invoice to him and he again started with the cussing and name calling.  He declined ever getting an estimate.  I sent him the picture of his paperwork that was filled out while he was here.  Then he tries to settle for 500.00 less (not including the 400 in comped work he already received.  I declined of course, and then he tells me hes going to trash my company name on every site possible.   Finally after threat of a lien, and lawsuits, and after he checked with his lawyer on the validity of his invoice, his wifes signature fully accepting the job as complete, that everything was great with the install he sends me a check.  You can imagine my surprise that the check from his own personal nonprofit named [redacted].  Ironic how a man can curse and scream.  name call and act like this yet pay from a [redacted] of all things. I politely decline any sort of a refund and wish that there was a site dedicated to customers and how they treat businesses
