Had *** R. front axle replaced at *** on February 2, 2018 AND also decided to have the oil changed by *** the same day. NO LEAK! Had *** L. front axle replaced at *** on February 7, 2018 (five days later). NO LEAK! MARCH 28, 2018. NO LEAK! Had oil changed at Great Canadian Oil Change (GCOC) North Battleford location on MARCH 29, 2018 OIL LEAKING !!! - not just dripping - GCOC claims that the oil plug was cross threaded BEFORE employees began service; however, GCOC CAN'T prove it was *** AND CAN'T prove it was NOT GCOC. Informed GCOC staff that I would contact management / ownership to seek an agreed upon form of restitution. *** claims that IF there was an issue during the February 2 oil change, supervisors/management would have been alerted. However, *** CAN'T prove it was GCOC AND CAN'T prove it was NOT ***.

"Tapping" or "re-threading" was not a repair option. Without conceding culpability, BUT also wanting to keep me as a loyal and satisfied customer, *** agreed to purchase *** oil pan and oil pan gasket (approximately $300, including taxes) IF I paid labour cost (approximately $250, including taxes). I attempted to contact the manager of GCOC North Battleford to NOT ONLY explain the *** mishap, BUT ALSO to discuss possible compensation options. *** She was unwilling to compromise in any way, shape or form. I agree with GCOC's homepage website statement that a routine oil change is a simple, cost effective maintenance procedure, yet on March 29 it was anything BUT simple AND cost effective; a thirty dollar/ten minute procedure became a six hundred dollar/two hour expense...MY EXPENSE ! I have sent two e-mails, called numerous times and left numerous messages with GCOC Head Office, yet no one has provided a reply of any kind.

Our attendant informed *** that the drain plug was cross threaded upon arrival and he was also informed that because of the drain plug condition doing an oil change could lead to damaged threads and an oil leak. *** personally looked at the condition on the oil pan and drain plug and asked us to proceed with the oil change. ***. We feel we handled the situation completely professionally and don't feel we are responsible for any type of compensation.
