Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/09/28) */
[redacted],
I am responding to Revdex.com case# [redacted] came to my establishment on September 4, 2015. Her original request was to have her hair match a picture that she brought with her. The picture was of a cornroll Mohawk style...

with hair extensions. She had expressed to me that her hair had not been braided since 2011. I asked her if she could handle braids in her hair, because of the length of time that she went without them. She stated yes, because she had her hair braided before.
I rendered the service(s) that she requested. She did not make one complaint while I performed the first service she requested. After I completed the Mohawk style, she made a changed from the top being curly. She wanted her braids dipped, rodded, and positioned to the right side. I was about 95 percent completed with her second request, when she stated that she needed to go pick up her child from school. She stated that she would be right back. I expressed to her at that time, that she needed to pay, because I did not know who she was and that was against protocol.
She paid 95 dollars and left the salon, however she returned less than ten minutes later without her child. There is no school around this area that you can travel by car and return within that specified period. I became suspicious after that. She came back with another photo of how she wanted the top to be. I had no problem at the time, however I had another client under the dryer. I normally do not do this because I do not stack my clients. I am an accommodating person, but I was sensing something else from her. There were two people in the salon to confirm what I am conveying.
Instead of having the hair to the side as she requested, she wanted it in a French roll in the back and a Habana knot on the top. I have photographs of both styles. I have completed three services for her for one price. I had spent two hours on her head. She wanted to look like the models in her photos. I am only responsible for the hairstyle that she wants. Her facial structure was round and the model's structure was narrow and long. She did not like the Habana once it was completed. The hairstyle was finished as she instructed. It was nothing wrong with the hairstyle. (She did not complain about the tightness of her braids) It was the structure of her face. I tried to give her advice on what went with her face structure, but she did not accept it.
She asked me to take that down. I took the top down without charging her. She now wants the Mohawk of the hair braided to the back. I also completed that service, remember to this point she has not complained about her hair being braided too tight. Why would she keep asking me to braid more if it distresses her scalp?
After looking in the mirror at the fourth style, she requested that I take the braids out completely. This never happens because that is a 75-dollar service, which I did freely.
This is where it gets even more bizarre. She asked me, "Do you want me to pay for just the hair extension?" I told her that she has paid for the service and I will not charge anything else. (At any other salon, at this point she would have paid an additional 275 dollars.) The final straw was when she had the unmitigated gall to request half of her money back. I was in shock at this point and so were the other two people in the salon. I could not give her a refund at that point. I had gave her five services and only charged her for one. A service that normally takes an hour took me four hours to complete. I tried to give her everything thing that she requested.
She got loud and wanted me to do another service to her hair. At this point, I asked her to remove herself from my chair. (Actually, I was rather shaken because this was extremely strange) I had another client waiting and listening to this ordeal. She demanded that I cornroll her hair down. (Remember, still at this point, she has never complained about her hair being braided too tight.) I told her that I was not rendering any more services to her.
If I had allowed her to leave without paying in the beginning, she would have not returned. Few industries allow a person to receive many services without payment. I think that she was trying to be deceptive. Not only do I feel that way, the other two people in the salon felt that way. I can produce photographs of her hair. I would like to produce pictures of her hair. I am confident in my 30 years of experience. I have styled hair on three continents and in many countries. I can also produce witness statements.
She is not allowed back in my salon, because she was trying to swindle me. In addition, it was evident from the beginning. I saw that based on my experience, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I gave the service that she requested from the beginning. As the stylist and expert, I can only suggest the proper hairstyle for the client's face structure. She did not want to listen to me. I gave the customer what she requested numerous times and she was not satisfied because of her appearance. I cannot overhaul her physical appearance; I can only fix her hair which I did many times.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/09/29) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept this response because it is a fabricated statement. The salon owner and another lady client were the only two people in the salon when my hair was finished, and when the salon owner said what she said to me. Her last client asked me questions about the tightness of my hair and I started to answer her when the salon owner stopped me to say "don't involve her in this". Then her client checked her and said to her "I asked her the question she didn't involve me". ALSO, I DIDN'T AUTHORIZE NOR SIGN FOR THE RELEASE OF ANY PHOTOS TO BE TAKEN OF ME OR THE HAIR STYLE. So if anything is posted anywhere or given to you (Revdex.com) I didn't authorize it, and the proper authorities should take action. I TOLD HER NOT TO TAKE MY PICTURE. I would like for this to be posted publicly so people can see it because this business "The Hair Garden" has poor business practices that rob people of their money. I would also like to say, I know the salon owner will not give me back the money that's due to me because the hairstylist is money hungry. Her license should be revoked and she should be fined. She started off stealing money from me, she charged me $85 for the hair style and $10 for the hair, which was by the way, $3 a bag and she only used 3 bags. But the "service total was $95. She owes me $1 back from that transaction. Ok. Where is the rest of my money? I didn't plan on tipping her so she figured she could just rip me off by charging more. Her statement was geared to defame my character (character assassination) and not address the issue of unsatisfactory service. She doesn't know me personally so she insinuated that I had alternatives motives because of her poor business practices. Revdex.com I thank you for getting the word out about this salon.
