Heartless staf! My Mother is years old and has Alzheimer's My Father died three weeks ago and apparently his passing caused a glitch in her insurance Mom fell and broke her arm and it needed to be reset and a new cast put on The nursing home called yesterday and made an appointment at The Hand Center for today They gave all of Mom's information and told them if there was a problem to let then know When they took Mom in this morning The Hand Center refused to treat her because there was a problem with the insurance I spent hours on the phone getting the problem fixed but they had sent my Mother away I will admit I was very angry and upset when I spoke to the person in charge on the phone I told her they were heartless and have no compassion at all Her response was "We need a credit card or insurance before we will treat anyone" She said if you go to HEB and want tomatoes they would not let you just take them I told her I own a restaurant and if someone comes into our place and they are hungry but have no money we do feed them She said the doctors would be very angry if she had allowed my mother to be treated I told her she could have asked the doctor but she said no This practice is all about the money and nothing else I realize they cannot run a business letting everyone have treatment without proof of payment, but there are exceptions to every rule and compassion and common decency have to win in dire circumstances such as this one This heartless practice sent my poor mother away with a broken arm Run do not walk away from this heartless practice! I have told the nursing home staff not to take my mother to this practice ever again and I have suggested they not take any of their other residents as well I have been my parent POA and Legal Guardian for years I live miles away and visit at least twice a year I am a very hands on caregiver so I rely on the nursing home over see careThey did their job properly If The Hand Center was so strict on insurance they should have checked it yesterday before my Mother was driven minutes each way for this fiascoBottom line don't use The Hand Center if you care about your elderly loved ones! No telly what will happen

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meI have not, however, received the results of my consultation, a list of alternate specialists in the area, or proof that the charge has been removedTo avoid being reported as deliquent and sent to collections, I was proactive and setup monthly automatic payments from a credit card for the charge in questionTwo payments have been made, one for $on 5/and another for $on 6/It is assumed that with the removal of the charge in question, these charges will also be refunded.

I am in receipt of your correspondence in regard to complaint *** and the client's March 26, office visit and his complaint regarding Billing or Collection IssuesOur records do show that the client was evaluated and counseled on treatment options as outlined in his statement
I would, however, like to help clarify the assessed chargesAs the Operations Manager for The Hand Center of San Antonio, T rake the implication of insurance fraud very seriouslyI have reviewed the related account and I am confident that the charges that have been billed are both accurate and appropriateI have further confidence that the enclosed materials extracted from the medical billing manuals will reassure you that the client's accusation of "Manipulative Billing" is and unsubstantiated
Not knowing how familiar you are with Medical billing providers are required to report their services using the same list of identifying codes known as CPTThe client's insurance was charged for an initial office consultation, x,rays arid due to his tendon injury, a splint and tendon treatment chargeThe treatment code charged does not imply nor does it require that the specialist perform any type of procedure despite the fact that it is listed in the c'Surgery" subsection of the CPT bookThis classification is somewhat misleadingAll treatments from minor injections to cast applications to open heart surgery are lumped into this same category which would more aptly be named "Treatment"The charge that he was assessed is for non--operative tendon injury careThis is standard practice in medicine and is completely accurateThe purpose is to minimize cost to patients and insurances when multiple visits will be required during the course of treatment for a significant injury such as thisThis charge includes all of the physician's services for a day global periodDuring this time the client would not have been charged for an office visit whether returning two times or twenty
At the time of his departure, a follow up appointment was set and it was the expectation that the client had every intention with complying with the treatment planDespite the appropriateness of the charge, the client is no longer subject to the benefit of the fee assessed as he has elected to continue his care elsewhereTherefore, as a gesture of good will, we will agree to remove the chargeConcurrent with this letter, the client has been provided with a copy of the results of his consultation, a list of alternate specialists in the area who would be more than capable.of treating this injury and our best wishes
It is our goal that every patient be more than pleased with the expert care provided by this group of nationally and globally renowned surgeons for more than forty yearsWhile there are always challenges to this desire, we are confident that our willingness to address the situation in a manner that we believe the client and the Revdex.com will find acceptable will go a long way to reassure the Revdex.com that our ethics, competent service and community first attitude have earned the superior reputation we have been blessed to cultivate
I would be more than pleased to provide any additional information that you might require in an effort to close this matterI can only apologize that this situation was not brought to my attention prior to this formal complaint, or it may have been prevented
Very Respectfully,

Heartless staf! My Mother is 78 years old and has Alzheimer's. My Father died three weeks ago and apparently his passing caused a glitch in her insurance. Mom fell and broke her arm and it needed to be reset and a new cast put on. The nursing home called yesterday and made an appointment at The Hand Center for today. They gave all of Mom's information and told them if there was a problem to let then know. When they took Mom in this morning The Hand Center refused to treat her because there was a problem with the insurance. I spent 2 hours on the phone getting the problem fixed but they had sent my Mother away. I will admit I was very angry and upset when I spoke to the person in charge on the phone. I told her they were heartless and have no compassion at all. Her response was "We need a credit card or insurance before we will treat anyone". She said if you go to HEB and want tomatoes they would not let you just take them. I told her I own a restaurant and if someone comes into our place and they are hungry but have no money we do feed them. She said the doctors would be very angry if she had allowed my mother to be treated. I told her she could have asked the doctor but she said no. This practice is all about the money and nothing else. I realize they cannot run a business letting everyone have treatment without proof of payment, but there are exceptions to every rule and compassion and common decency have to win in dire circumstances such as this one. This heartless practice sent my poor mother away with a broken arm. Run do not walk away from this heartless practice!

I have told the nursing home staff not to take my mother to this practice ever again and I have suggested they not take any of their other residents as well. I have been my parent POA and Legal Guardian for 6 years. I live 2000 miles away and visit at least twice a year. I am a very hands on caregiver so I rely on the nursing home over see care. They did their job properly. If The Hand Center was so strict on insurance they should have checked it yesterday before my Mother was driven 30 minutes each way for this fiasco. Bottom line don't use The Hand Center if you care about your elderly loved ones! No telly what will happen.
