The HandyMan Can, LLC Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***Please add your rejection comments below. [.]
The Handy Man AKA Mr, *** added the add ons with the assumption that they were freebies based on his good faith. This is definitely not the truth. We paid for the new garbage disposal because *** *** said that it broke in his hands. He did not know how to remove it. He also accepted the job to do the plumbing indicating that he could do it when he came to quote the job. This again, an error on him. If you do not know how to do the job - then you do not accept it - that is the bottom line. Now since Mr*** graciously brought up the microwave. I will be happy to elaborate. He was going to place my tile going up to the microwave - again half fast job. We asked that he remove the microwave and do this job right. I did not want to see any old tile after the new tile was completed. We did need new shut offs under the sink which we paid for. I do not know why he is adding all these add ons to the complaint - he got paid for what he did over again. The backsplash should have gone all the way up to the cabinet. If this was not true - it would not have been done up to all the other cabinets. Mr*** is definitely in the wrong and if he stands by his work he would have repaired it. Unacceptable response.
Regards,

In Response to the complaint against my service regarding the Tile work in Miss [redacted]'s kitchen. We completed the project on Wednesday Feruary 10, 2016.The Original contract was $1,450.00. Add ons included the cost of two new shut off under the sink because they were leaking. $100.00A new 1/2...

HP food desposal unit purchased $100.00Add on for removing the Microwave and tiling up behind the microwave then reinstalling the microwave. $100.00What they are neglecting to mention is that the original quote never included tiling up behind the corner cabinets, nor was it ever discussed to add on to original quote such as tiling behind the microwave. The corner cabinet between the Range and the sink has a 45 degree angle in the back with a spacing between the cabinet and the wall is approximately 3 inches at it's deepest point. The original tile that was removed did NOT extend up behind the cabinet and the spacing was there. In 20 years of Installing tile backsplash I have never had this requested.  Another exampele of my Professional Integrety that is being challenged and not mentioned is the fact that I never billed them for hiring my liscensed plumber to come in on short notice and on a saturday to replumb the sink drains and traps. This was an Add on that was not on the original contract. The client did not have the sink on site when I quoted the project. The cost out of pocket to me was a $325.00 charge that I covered because I felt Ethically it was exuding professionalism. Any other contractor would have charged the client for an unforseen add on. I never want to dissapoint anyone. I do my best to help those in my community and provide quality service. But I also do not appriciate being taken advantage of. I work hard for my clients. I go way out my way to make certain that there homes are kept clean and no harm comes to property, people or valubles.I have learned that in the service business though, that we deal with many different personalities. We have to be very good at reading our customers from the first meeting, during the project and at the end when we ask for final payment. Some are steady the whole way and very easy to work for, others start to try and get more out of us with subtle requests to do this or to do that. Eventually, the requests begin to be more time cunsuming and costly and thats when we need to write up a chage order and bill the customer. Once we start that, the whole relationship takes a different path that puts us contractors in a fragile position to not upset the client. It doesn't take much for them to turn on you over something so little as say a few pieces of tile backsplash behind a kitchen cabinet. In conclusion, One final key point I should mention;Regardless of the effect this review may have on my Revdex.com rating, I Morally stood my ground against an unreasonable request by my client. I still stand behind my decision to not do any work for free. I offered to tile up behind the cabinet for an additional fee of $200.00 which they did not want to pay me. Ironic that they got somebody in three days to tile behind the cabinet that quickly and do it for the same price that I quoted the Add on work. Sincerely,[redacted]The Handyman Can LLC
