Review: I paid for The Hartford short and long term disability for over five years as a public school teacher. I filed a claim July 13, 2013 after suffering a stroke and subsequent seizures. The Hartford has consistently interrupted my benefits causing undue financial hardship for me and my family. I have telephoned and e-mailed The Hartford at least six times and even watched the secretary at my health care provider's office re-fax progress notes that were allegedly 'not received' by the Hartford even though the fax confirmation showed otherwise. I was recently assigned a new worker and after checking my claim status on-line found I was approved for 408.00. Again, I was paid at least one hundred dollars than this approved amount. My claim number is [redacted] and I am at risk of defaulting on my mortgage on a monthly basis because of the Hartford's inability or unwillingness to honor their commitment which is offered both in written form (mailed hardcopies) and online (please go to Thehartfordatwork.com where you can log in using my username: l[redacted] and my password [redacted].Desired Settlement: I simply want 60% of my public school teacher salary to make ends meet during my recovery process.

Review: In Oct 2013 I called the Hartford to question my auto policy increase. During this call, I was informed the increase was on account of no multi-policy discount. I immediately questioned this,on account of, I also have a homeowners policy. The Hartford rep. researched my policy and informed me that it was accidentally dropped July 2012. To reinstate, the rep. said, I would be required to pay 2 years of premiums (7/2012-7/2014) for the sum of $2846.00 by 11/10/2013. Also the Hartford rep. said I would have till the end of 2013 to decide to keep or cancel the policy. I proceeded to inquired for alternate insurance companies, to find the cost much higher, due to the fact Hartford had already canceled me(12/9/2013). This cancellation notice , however was sent to me 1/04/2014 along with a new bill of $581.00(for 7/2013-12/09/2013). I don't feel responsible for their negligence to pay this bill. Had there been a claim between 7/2012-10/2014 they would not have covered it! More than several calls later trying to resolve this situation, Hartford has now threatened to send unfairly the $581.00 to collections.Desired Settlement: I would like The Hartford to dismiss all outstanding bills and reinstate my good credit standing.

Dear Ms. [redacted],

I am writing in response to your letter regarding Ms. [redacted]’s home policy.

We reached out to Ms. [redacted] and offered to work with her regarding the account balance and agreed to reinstate the home policy. Ms. [redacted] informed us that she is satisfied with the resolution.

If I can be of further assistance, you may contact me at ###-###-####.

Review: workers comp is based on W-2 employees, we have zero W-2 employees and according to them the owner isn't excluded, however there were no W-2 employees and owner had $0 wages. We paid monthly bill with no questions asked then they took $3600 out of my bank account because they say there were more W-2 employees paid then we claimed. Which we had Zero W-2 employees through owner.

We would like the $3600(not exact amount)back plus 28 hours of secretary wages for the hours she was put on hold before being hung up on over and over and over again attempting to resolve this matter.

Review: On September 9, 2015, my husband and I reported a leakage in our basement to The Hartford Home Owners Insurance section. We were told that we had to get a plumber out to our house and have the problem diagnosed. As long as it wasn't ground water it was covered. We called the plumber, who did a poor job in diagnosing, but diagnosed it as a leak around the seal of our main drain pipe in the foundation and told us that we needed a foundation company to deal with it. The adjuster from the Hartford came out looked, without doing any additional investigating agreed with what the plumber said and left stating that it wasn't covered. We accepted that until we called the foundation guy who investigated the problem by removing more sheet rock and finding that the pipe itself was broken, not the seal. We advised the Hartford and were told that they would cover everything with the exception of the cost of the pipe and it's installation. Long story short, a septic company came out and fixed the problem. IN the meantime, we've had to pay the septic company, a plumber and a foundation company out of pocket, on top of it all we were unable to use the water in the house because it was pouring in more freely as more sheet rock and water proofing materials were removed, so we had to stay at a hotel for three days (paid for out of pocket). I had been unable to cook to try to preserve the use of water for showers, brushing teeth, etc.to avoid having my entire basement flood with sewer water. By now we are out of pocket about $2,500. The Hartford took their time in reimbursing us and it wasn't done until October 5th. I expressed my frustration to the claims adjuster (we have actually been dealing with three people [like a tag team approach]) and their supervisor that the length of time it was taking to get through this process was ridiculous for something so small. None of which I have been satisfied with, they all have these relaxed attitudes and slowness in responding. So, I asked, "why not cost it out, cut us a check and let us get our own contractors because we could get it done much faster", I was told that they would not issue us a check because, "we may not get the work done and we may make a profit off of the money". I told them "we don't need your money, we need our home back to where it was". I stated that while they didn't feel like this was urgent, I had dirty sewage water in my basement with bacteria in it as well as mold and mildew which grow and it was urgent to us, especially because my youngest son has severe allergies. It was amazing that each time we called and pointed something else out that was missed, we were told, "you have to show or prove" whatever it was, was associated with the claim. I told the supervisor, you are making us feel like crooks, as if we are trying to swindle someone. Here it is October 21st and the repairs on my basement have not begun. For the 10th time during this entire process, my husband is home from work (no offer to pay him for his time off and vacation hours used) waiting for their contractor to come and cut out more sheet rock and to determine how much of the insulation needs to be replaced. The first time they came out to measure, they didn't cut out the sheet rock where the water was entering into the house at all, they only cut the sheet rock that had visible mold/mildew on it (near the floor), which was unbelievable. When they wrote their estimate, they didn't include any insulation (even though it got wet) because they had no plans to replace it. When we spoke to them about replacing the carpet, I explained to them that my entire basement has the same carpet throughout because we wanted our basement to flow. I was told that they would only replace the carpet in the room where it was damaged and not anywhere else and that they would get as close a match to the carpet as they could, but wouldn't make us take a grossly mismatched piece....LOL. I told them that it was unacceptable, to think that I will have one room out of the five that are carpeted in the basement that stands out because the carpet is different. I asked why can't we compromise and replace that room, the room that connects to it and the hallway/steps (all of these areas are directly connected), which would make that section flow and the others will have the carpet that was already installed. The supervisor that I spoke too, didn't think that I was asking for anything terribly out of the question, but three days later, we get a call stating that they are only going to replace the carpet in the one room again (never heard back from the supervisor). I told them if the carpet doesn't match, it is unacceptable. I pay for more than $350k worth of replacement of materials inside my home for this insurance, yet they are going to make me accept something that I am not satisfied with and would make my home look terrible in our eyes for about an additional $1,000 worth of carpet. When we asked where/when we could see samples, we were sent an ITEL sheet, which had the names/manufacturers of carpet that was considered to be a match on it and it had the carpet vendor that they would purchase it from on it. My husband and I drove to the store only to be told that the ITEL sheet only provides them with a cost of approximately $3.00 per square foot and that they hadn't received anything from the Hartford, so the carpet probably wouldn't be ready for the week of November 2nd because it has to be ordered, again another delay. When we looked at the carpet for that cost, we found that there were a lot of variances including the size of the loops compared to the berber carpet we already have installed, we would also have to make a choice of getting the same base color with different specs of colors in it or get a different base color with the same specs of color that we have, which in either case is going to set it apart from the rest of the basement. We also noticed that this ITEL sheet had the incorrect room size listed 12 X 15 instead of 13'10" X 22' which is the room's actual size, so I don't know whether they are planning to sit a piece of carpet in the middle of the floor or how it would be done if we didn't catch it. We hadn't heard from the Hartford so we called the contractor themselves to set up an appointment to begin the work and that is November 2nd (two weeks from now). We are in disbelief that it is taking more than two months to get a claim as small at this completed, we can only imagine what it would take to get something major completed. This entire process has been long, frustrating and drawn out for no reason, except that their customer service isn't worth the time it takes to place the calls. I told one rep that they have just lost a good customer and the said to me, "if you get another insurance company that's up to you" and it was said very nastily. Yesterday when my husband was speaking to one adjuster, my husband told him, I hear the indignation in your voice and he said "I apologize for speaking with attitude, but this claim has been frustrating", therefore acknowledging that he had an attitude. He also offered to cut us a check (one that both my husband and I don't believe will cover the cost of the repairs) and send it out to us, when we were told in the beginning that they would not. They have no regard for their customers and their satisfaction.Desired Settlement: I would like for the Hartford to replace the all of the damaged sheet rock, insulation, and baseboards in the room where the damage occurred. I would also like to have the carpet replaced, however, I would like for it to be more than that one room that I've been told would be replaced for my basement to flow as it did before this took place. If I pay for more than $350,000 of insurance for replacing items in my home, why am I having to fight for replacement a small amount of carpet?

Review: When I joined this company I carefully explained that my wife and I are living apart for time being for job reasons only--and that one vehicle would have a [redacted] policy (where I was) and that the other one would have a [redacted] policy (where she resides.) However, my wife's policy show [redacted] residence, not [redacted]. If she were to be involved in an accident, it is unclear whether she would be covered due to this mistake. The second issue is as follows: I called on July 14 to confirm that the account that my auto draft came out of had been changed correctly to my new checking account. I also told them that my car was now also a [redacted] car due to my new job in that state. The agent said he would have to check my credit. We did not understand this since we had already had it checked when I started the policy only two and a half months ago, had not had any late payments (we are on auto draft as I said,) no claims and were generally in perfect standing. I asked to talk to a member of supervision. I did not use foul language, as the call recording will reveal. He refused (to give me to a supervisor.) Furthermore, after a lengthy hold, he came back on the line as said someone would have to call me. He did not say that it not be returned on the same day. After 50 minutes and no return call, I called back only to be told that after 8:30 my time that supervision requests would not be honored until the next day!! I originally requested to talk to a supervisor no later than 7:40 my time; I should have been called back by 8:30--instead of holding the return call until after 8:30, then saying that it was too late to talk to someone. I am not going to available when they wanted to call back due to orientation at my new job. All I wanted was to ask if they would consider changing my car to [redacted] without a credit check--especially since my new job pays $25,000 more than when it was registered in [redacted].Desired Settlement: 1. I do not want retaliation by [redacted] for having to file this complaint by issuing a cancellation or a rate increase. If they would have allowed me to talk to someone, I would not have had to file this. 2. I want to be allowed to change my state without a credit check.

Review: We had an open claim with your company involving an auto accident, which we were 100% not at fault for. We were told to pay the $1000 deductible just to speed up the process so that we were able to get our car fixed, and that they would get it back for us. Not only did they not file the claim with the responsible party involved until months after the accident, they also closed the claim without any knowledge to me and never refunded our money. We were never given any notion as to what was going on, and it is over six months since the incident occurred. We were given ZERO paperwork pertaining to the claim, and the outcome, and now Hartford is ignoring our emails.Desired Settlement: I would like our $1000 deductible back that we were promised.

Review: December 10, 2014 I purchased auto insurance from [redacted]. The first payment was $162, subsequent payments were set up through their website with the same information as the first payment which processed successfully. February 11, 2015 my vehicle was struck by an uninsured driver, when I contacted [redacted] I was told my policy was cancelled for non payment. I advised the agent I received no notice of cancellation, she promptly stated I was emailed and a letter sent by mail. The email she referred to stated "important information regarding your policy, please login for more information", the letter mailed to me stated If I had not provided my [redacted] membership number I should contact the company with a credit or debit card, nothing about the January payment being returned to [redacted] as "failure to locate account". Also no mention that if payment was not provided by a specific date the policy would be cancelled in either correspondence. I also received a bill from [redacted] claiming I owe $30?

I received my [redacted] membership cards with my [redacted] Auto Policy and contact information on them to place in my car along with proof of insurance cards received from [redacted]. A [redacted] representative also advised the individual who struck my vehicle when calling about my insurance that I had no insurance. Most disconcerting is the more than 300 complaints against [redacted] for this very practice, cancelling policies and failing to notify their customers, changing rates and other similar practices. The company claims to offer affordable insurance coverage only surreptitiously cancel the coverage without notice.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome would be that [redacted] honor the policy and assist with holding the party who struck and totaled my vehicle February 11, 2015. [redacted] failed to notify me as the customer service agent and "manager" claimed. I received no letter stating my policy would be cancelled if a payment was not received by a certain date. The letter I did receive that was sent on the date stated by the customer service agent makes no mention of an inability to process my payment for "unable to locate account" nor provide a date to make a replacement payment ; the information identical to the payment made in December which had processed without a problem.

Dear [redacted]

Please find our response to [redacted] concerns.

Review: I have been unfortunate to have disability insurance with you through my employer. On February XX XXXX, I was taken to the ER for my medical conditions & I was released because I needed continued care elsewhere. My manager advised me to start a claim with The Hartford. Things went fine first as they needed some information from my Doctor for a fee which Hartford refused to pay. I paid the fee and the paperwork was faxed over. A day later, they requested more information. For more money, I had to send them more paperwork. Then they wanted me to fax documents I had, not covering those fees. Already being in significant pain, this was a struggle doing these errands. Claim was finally approved but was never paid out. My manager said I was supposed to return on a particular date but had no idea. An agent there said all I had to do was my doctor to write a new date & send it. Afterwards, Hartford wanted my paperwork all over again. I was not told this. Being now broke, I have no ways to paying more fees for this paperwork. I have been disabled & no income coming in. Horrible customer service telling me it wasn't "their problem to deal with" & simply wanted paperwork. To return to work I need this claim in; otherwise I lose it. Unfortunately, have nothing, and you have been harassing my doctor's office for days. I am very sick of you now, and I have lately not have the energy to do this all over again.

Review: Billing me for charges I DON"T OWE

I had auto insurance with the Hartford thru aarp.I found better coverage with [redacted] and a savings of aprx $322.00 a year so I called Hartford and cancelled my policy as I WAS paid up with them. A few days after this I get a bill in the mail for $87.54. I I called Hartford they told me this is for early cancelation of the policy. After over a year with them I said NO you people are taking advange of the seniors in our country. I don/t owe this bill this is not wright. I have also contacted AARP and let them know what is going on with this company since they are associated with them and are supose to be looking out for us.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a statement with a 0 balance along with a letter of apology and I think the best way to end a business deal or any other type of despute is on good terms.

When all personal information was filled on the web site, the response stated that this service for Florida residents was not _yet_ available. Business

Response:

Good morning,

Please see attached responses, which was originally uploaded on January 26, 2015. I am sending another copy via fax as well.

Thank you.

Review: I had completed the health exam to qualify for life insurance in October of 2013, then in November of the same year received a call stating I needed to take the heath exam. I asked the nurse why I would need to retake the exam I had already taken and she said she would check with the Hartford Group and call me back if we did need to do the exam, if I did not hear back from her then the exam in October was sufficient for what was needed. I never heard back from her and had assumed all was completed. In December 2013 I received a letter stating that I was unable to gain coverage since there was missing information. I had called every day multiple times for over a week straight and the only information I could get was that someone would call me and notify me of what was missing. It is now January 14, 2014 and I have to receive a phone call from anyone. I was also told to contact their subcontractor who does the exam to find out what was missing. I called them as well, but since I am doing business with Hartford group I expect that company to make the phone calls and tell me what they are missing. On January 3rd I was put in touch with [redacted] a Senior Service Rep who informed me I needed so sign page 4 of a form. I tried calling him back at the number he had left in his email on January 5th and was unable to reach him at the number provided. I ended up speaking with another representative who said she would have the form sent over so I could sign and fax it back. I emailed [redacted] as well on the 6th asking him what the status was for the form. I received an email back stating their Medical Underwriting department was going to be sending me the form. It is now January 14th and I have not received an email, phone call, or letter to sign to complete this process. It is a severe deterrent for me to even do business with Hartford group given they can not even send one form to sign in almost 4 months let alone make a phone call or follow up. God forbid if anything ever happen and the policy would be needed I am seriously apprehensive the company could make good on the claim.Desired Settlement: send me the form - it can not be this hard!

Review: On January 15th, 2013 our business flooded from a frozen/burst piper overnight. Our claim# is CPXXXXXXXX. We have been getting the run around from our claim handler [redacted] She has made excuses about the Hartford system being down that has prevented her for the past 5 months from receiving email, opening zip files containing crucial case information, PDF files for financial records, links to a dropbox page with the flood photos, a mailed hard copy on disc and flash drive of the photos and documentation, and separated emails to fit under the email size limitation of Hartford. Each attempt went with weeks in between with no responses to emails asking for status updates. A 3rd party company that cleaned the work is claiming Hartford never paid them and is threatening us for the bill. We were assured this would be handled and would not be a problem. At this moment [redacted] is not responding to my emails about a status update. We have lawsuits being filed against us for damaged items and cannot calm our customers any longer. This is our last effort of resolving this before we have to seek legal aid.

Product_Or_Service: Insurance

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

Our claim paid in full for a total amount of $72,348 which is inclusive of business/customer property damage, business income reimbursement, and Service Master's $8,000 bill that was unpaid. We have actually under claimed this situation since Service Master was dispatched within hours of the flood being discovered and we only had time to assess the damages in the short period of time. We have been forced to close down our location and wait until Hartford can get us back on our feet.

Review: I filed for std from hartford after suffering a tia at work and being hospitalized. The er doctor said my labs were critical and I needed to be off work until I can get them under control. The hartford company has played around with my claim since I started it the first part of march.I feel they are intentionally doing this to get out of honoring this claim. They never call me to let me know what they need until the last minute, then I am running around trying to get it done before their deadlines.I've already had a mini stroke and I feel they are trying to give me another one.I have not had a paycheck in a month and they are just taking their time.

I want my short term disability that I have been paying for out of my paychecks!!!

The company decided to terminate me even after doctor records from appt was faxed on Monday may 6. They state I didn't go to dr in April but I told them how can I go with no money. On around the 25 or 26 I received a 2 week check and then made an appt with dr and was seen on the 3 of may. Doctors will not see you without payment and the Hartford continued to play around with my claim until the end of April. I had not had a paycheck from my employer since the middle of march. I explained all this to [redacted] in April and it was okay then, now it's a problem. I have consulted with a lawyer. Thank you. [redacted]

Review: The moment after I received my claim number, it was just as if I didn't exist as a client anymore. From the start of October to the beginning of January, this claim has been resting on my shoulders and causing me a great deal of stress, however, there's simply no viable communication between the woman handling my case and myself. This issue regarding the repair of a defective washer-dryer unit and the damages the faulty machine caused has dragged on for months now and there simply seems to be no end to it. What should be a common problem with a simple resolution is in fact not. By this point, it genuinely seems as if the Hartford insurance company is simply unwilling to pay out money to repair damages. Beyond taking a great time, despite the efforts of my tenant, the condominium manager, and myself, this ordeal has caused a great deal of stress - mostly becuase the employee set to deal with my case is incompetent with communication. Upon her request, I have sent her my bylaws, repeatedly, I have sent her the contracts, repeatedly, and I have sent her statements, repeatedly, only for her to say that either she cannot open the document or that I have not sent them. In the case that I was the problem, I sent all these files a variety of ways, even recruiting the condominium manager in doing so, only for her to mention that she still was unable to read them. Weeks later, she then notifies me that the business believes it is my tenant's fault, for they believed my tenant had overloaded the machine causing the damages, when the machine was in and of itself faulty after installation as claimed by [redacted] factory services. Thus, upon such an uncalled for statement, she had the audacity to state that I needed to refile my claim under a different section, and that my tenant had to pay for the damages herself after the whole four months of waiting. I find this service, and this lack of communication unbelievable. After four months, something so simple is still unsettled and the company is not finishing what they were asked to do.Desired Settlement: I want The Hartford to pay for the damages as they should have done three months ago. This service is simply ridiculous and I wish for it to be resolved as soon as possible.

Review: I was involved in a accident in november. I had the body work done at autobody usa, and then tried to get the mechanical work done. I called to have it looked at, they said they dont have a preferied shop for mechanical. so I took it to a mechanic and had him look at it. he gave me an estamite of 1,600 in front end damage. some which included a bent front axle which he said was definatly from the accident. some other repairs were not. I called my claim rep. [redacted] and faxed the report to her. after a week and not hearing back from her I called her back. she told me it was denied and gave me the number of the person who denied it. she said since there was no damage to the tires and due to the age of my truck, they couldnt approve it. after arguing with her she said she would have "there mechanic" look at it. I have waited almost 2 weeks and still nothing. when I called back they have no record of setting this up. they keep ignoring the damage. and in the mean time my truck is not drivable.Desired Settlement: I want the damage done by the accident fixed. I hit 3 dears, 2 went under my truck, one went over. they done the body work but refuse to do the mechanical. I want the mechanical part done so I can drive my truck again.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:they only reimbursed one part. They refused the alignment which was a proved during the bodywork, but couldn't be done at that time. They also didn't pay the full amount for the damage that they sent a check for.

The total bill (including alignment) was 504.00due to deer damage. this is not including the upper and lower ball joints which were not caused by the deer

Sincerely,

Review: I had insurance through this company. My policy expired on August 25,2013 if not paid. I did not pay it for I was letting my car go back to the bank. I turned my tags back into the DMV, on Monday August 26,2013. The bank came and got my car on August 27,2013. I still receive a bill for the amount of $291.38. I contacted them back in Nov, letting them know I haven't had my car nor the tags since August, I owe nothing. They told me to mail a copy of the letter from the DMV, when I turned my tags in. I sent them a copy of the letter, showing I didn't even have tags, so I was not driving, they said they were still insuring the car. I told them well I did not have the car nor tags, so they were insuring air. When I sent the copy from the DMV, I got no reply, but I still keep getting bills, saying they are going to take me to collection.

Leave me alone, I was paid up. I don't owe them nothing, they were not insuring anything.

Our review confirmed that we are in receipt of the license plate surrender document submitted to our company by Ms. [redacted]. The auto policy cancellation was revised to reflect an effective date of August 27, 2013, thereby reducing her account balance. A letter was mailed to Ms. [redacted] to notify her of the final amount due for coverage provided.
