To Whom it may concern: I received a letter from your department regarding a recent complaint. Upon receiving a call from [redacted]n I told her that I first wanted to know if Heart of Hope ever received payment because she allegedly sent the $150 directly to an employee who is no longer with...

us. [redacted] stated that she had a copy of the receipt for the transfer of funds. I did receive a picture showing that it was sent directly to our employee at that time on 2/15/17. I then was able to get a hold of our former employee and she ([redacted]) stated that she did received the $150 to reserve a bed for [redacted] proceeded to tell me that he was supposed to be released in May and that she waited for him at the bus stop but he never showed. I then relayed this message to my husband who is the co-founder of Heart of Hope.  When he spoke with her he attempted to explain that if a person doesn't show up that they forfeit the $150 because it is a non- refundable deposit unless the guest gives a two week notice and leaves on good terms. He also attempted to tell her that it cost to reserve a bed for someone and that $150 went towards reserving it for him when someone else could have used that bed. [redacted] went on to say that he had been in jail the whole time and did not travel by bus. The issues is that it cost $150 for a deposit and $90.00 per week to be a guest at Heart of Hope. We accepted the $150 instead of the $240 to hold the bed for a week because Mr. [redacted] was supposed to be released from prison within that month. At $90.00 per week plus the $150 dollar deposit to hold a bed for him would have cost her $510.00. We do not hold beds for free. Being that [redacted] (former employee) stated that he was supposed to be released in May this was months after she paid the $150 which would have only covered the deposit but not covered the fees to hold the bed that long. Now she has contacted us nine months later expecting us to refund monies that was sent to reserve a bed. We are a sober living for people who struggle with drug and alcohol addictions and are very fair as you can see we didn't ask her for more money to hold his bed for longer. Just because he was never released doesn't mean that we should return the money for services received by reserving a bed for him and not receiving what would be fully owed.  [redacted] just called us last month inquiring about the $150 for a reserved bed months ago. Please feel free to contact me via phone: [redacted], email [redacted]@heartofhopesober.com or address [redacted].Respectfully, [redacted]
