On a weekend in June my wife and I booked a stay of three nights at Hotel NorthamptonOur rooms were on the fifth floor, which is the top floor of the buildingFriday night was uneventful but on Saturday night there was a wedding reception being held in the hotel's ballroom with loud music that was audible to us, five stories upThe music ended by PM and we went to sleepAt AM we were awakened by guests in the hallway who were yelling, pounding and kicking on the door of a room adjacent to oursWe called the main desk, but after fifteen minutes nothing had been done about it and the noise continuedI got dressed and proceeded downstairs to complainAt the elevators were gathered about ten young adults who were obviously inebriated and disorderlyAfter insisting on speaking with a manager, two security persons accompanied me to our floor where these unruly guests had their roomsDespite the intervention of security personnel the noise continued sporadically until well after AMAt AM my wife tried to take a shower and the selector handle for it broke off in her handWe had to summon the management to repair it
The following morning I told the management that I expected a refund for the disruption and our being unable to sleepAt checkout they reduced our bill from $for that particular night by about 70% to approximately $We will never stay at Hotel Northampton again and do not recommend it to anyoneIf running a reception venue is more important to the proprietors than providing a quiet stay for their guests they need either to get out of the hotel business or run their catering hall business at some other location
