The Karl Chevrolet Company Reviews (4)

Purchased a new car in late April of this year and the car I purchased is Amazing the experience of Karl Chevrolet was not. Once the down payment was made the dealership was no where to be found, the woman I worked with was not knowledgeable about the car and gave me untrue information regarding features on the car.On 2 occasions when I was asking for some options to be included, Beth K[redacted] told me not to get the because they were "ghetto".
As I have not purchased a new car in some years, I had a few questions to be answered. My emails and calls to her went unanswered. I waited days for a response but to no avail, I finally had to speak to another sales person to get any sort of response which was just as frustrating. I threatened to cancel my car order on 2 occasions and both times they finally acted like they cared.
It's been 17 months since I purchased the [redacted] ZL1 Convertible and have had to bring the car in for repair 5 times due to the Tire Pressure Monitor System, Karl Chevrolet replaced my left rear tire in August of 2013 and since that tire replacement ,the problem with the TPMS has continued with the tire that was replaced. On Karl Chevrolet's last attempt to fix the tire,I was told by the service manager, Jay B[redacted], that they "think" my radar detector is causing the TPMS problem; and if it happens again with the radar detector, they will not fix it. To quote Jay Bradley "possibility of electrical interference from a radar detector or Wi-Fi is a very real possibility" .
I do not want "very real possibilities" when there is something wrong with my car that is still under warranty, I want facts. Karl Chevrolet has demonstrated to be unknowledgeable in the cars that they sell and also unable to repair them.
I finally got the [redacted] ZL1 fixed, and it was not the Radar Detector or the Tinted Windows like your Service Manager Jay B[redacted] insisted & refused to service my car under warranty.
"you should know that the advice on the possibility of electrical interference from a radar detector or Wi-Fi is a very real possibility"
"We have made every effort to respond promptly to your needs. If for any reason the condition reoccurs without the presence of any other aftermarket electrical equipment in your vehicle please let us know immediately."
The most frustrating part about dealing with your dealership as well as others is that I am the one who figured out what was wrong with the car not some certified GM tech. In the future before blaming customers & refusing to service cars that are STILL UNDER WARRANTY do a more thorough job & send your "techs" for the proper training.

RE:
Complaint ID# [redacted]
Dear [redacted],
I am
responding to the above referenced complaint from [redacted] involving what is
described as 'advertising issues'.
The
contest that [redacted] refers to was run by [redacted] and co-sponsored by
Karl Chevrolet. On June 14, 2014, Karl Chevrolet hosted an event culminating
this contest. The grand prize was to be awarded by [redacted] in
accordance with the attached 'official rules' that were posted on their website
as well as posted at each location where consumers could enter.
Immediately
after finding that his key was the one that started the new [redacted], [redacted]
sat down with [redacted], Karl Chevrolet's VP of Sales. [redacted] walked [redacted]
through the rules and through the process that would be followed. [redacted]
completed a credit application (a step in the process) and it was submitted to
the leasing company. Even though the lease is a fully pre-paid lease, the
leasing company is entrusting an individual with the vehicle for the term of
the lease. A solid credit history is required to ensure the vehicle is well
cared for, insurance is kept up, and maintenance is performed. [redacted]'s
credit was not acceptable. We tried using his fiancé’s credit information but
that was not acceptable either. Despite knowing that his credit was not
acceptable, [redacted] went ahead and contacted his insurance agent in [redacted]
to arrange insurance coverage. It turns out that even though [redacted] entered
the contest using a [redacted] address, his current legal residence is in [redacted] where he maintains his driver's license. We advised [redacted] that he
would need to obtain a [redacted] driver's license in order to register the
[redacted] in [redacted].
Even
though [redacted] could not meet the basic credit requirements of the lease, both
sponsors worked to find a solution for [redacted]. The contest had been a great
success, generated significant positive experiences for all concerned, and [redacted] was extremely excited and engaged. Perhaps in hindsight, we should have
ended our efforts upfront and acknowledged that he could not meet the credit
requirements and follow the rules to award the prize to the next person.
However,
over the next couple of weeks, the owners of [redacted] and the owners of
Karl Chevrolet worked together on various scenarios to allow [redacted] to accept
the prize. I, [redacted], president of Karl Chevrolet, went so far as to
personally contact several executives at [redacted], the primary leasing
company we use, to ask for a favor and exception to their normal policy. After
multiple conversations with several different people, [redacted]'s application
and our appeal was brought to the highest levels of [redacted], where the
President signed off on an exception and the lease was approved, however with
contingencies. Most notably, the interest factor went from a top tier of 3.79%
to a sub-prime tier of 9.39%. The result was that the total amount due on the
one-pay lease went up by $6,642.
The
contest was based on credit in the top 57% of consumers. [redacted] was not in
that group of 57% of consumers, thus the costs on the lease were significantly
higher. Again, in an effort to 'do the right thing', the owners of [redacted] and Karl Chevrolet agreed to split the difference of $6,642 three ways,
with each company paying 1/3 and [redacted] paying 1/3. He was not willing to do
this.
[redacted]
was offered an alternate prize - a vehicle valued at the same cost as the
original 24 month pre-paid lease on the [redacted], or approximately $29,000.
Again, [redacted] refused that offer.
In the
end, I am answering a complaint against Karl Chevrolet who was not primarily
responsible for this contest. We were an active participant. I firmly believe
that both [redacted] and Karl Chevrolet have conducted themselves
extremely professionally in this matter. Both have worked very hard to find a
mutually agreeable solution for [redacted]. But all of those efforts have failed to
satisfy [redacted].
There never was nor is there any option for a cash payout.  [redacted] was advised of this from the very beginning.
I do not
believe there is anything else we could do, but I am happy to discuss this
matter with you directly.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
President
Karl Chevrolet

Review: I went to Karl Chevrolet to service my 2008 Yukon Denali. The woman at the front asked me if I had had my engines flushed before, and I told her I had not. She alarmed me by saying that I should have the flushing service every 15K miles. She told me the price-- $1300-- and I agreed. When I returned after 3.5 hours (they do not give out loaner cars-- I was with my son at the library) to look over the bill, I was surprised by the $600 labor charge. She then told me that I needed new brake pads and rotors which would cost $800.Given my suspicion over the "flushing of the engines" bill, I called another GM dealer in CT ([redacted]), I asked how much new brake pads and rotors (plus labor) would be, and he said $450. Then I asked him about the curious "engine flushes", and he said he doesn't do them too often because they are usually not needed. This confirmed my suspicion that Karl Chevrolet's service recommendations are misleading and their prices are grossly inflated.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I would like some money back for the engine flush service which I was way overcharged for.

On 4/2/2013 we provided multiple maintenance services due to time / mileage / condition for customer's 2007 GMC Yukon with 87,515 miles. This included Oil Change, Tire rotation, Multipoint inspection, Transmission service, Fuel Injection Service & Air induction System cleaning, 4x4 Transfer Case Service, Cooling System Flush,Front Differential Service, Rear Differential service, & tire puncture repair. Two technicians were assigned to meet customer's time needs - these standard charges are job specific.

Customer's complaint referred to "engine flushes" which we do not offer - nor do most reputable dealers - possible misunderstanding of terminology. Cannot compare pricing either from "over the phone" quotes by others nor with dealers not located in lower Fairfield County due to differences in labor and overhead costs & level of expertise. Customer was informed of charges and recommendations. We quote brake work with OEM factory parts - not cheaper and less functional alternatives when it comes to large SUV brakes. Should note also that customer may have been distracted or confused as a result of her young child having a severe screaming & kicking glass doors tantrum during service check-in. We do offer daily rental cars through [redacted] or alternate transportation (ride) which we provided to customer. This Revdex.com complaint is the first I have heard of her concern - we would be pleased to offer a complimentary Oil Change/Tire Rotation Service on customer's next service in consideration for her valued business. Our pricing is competitive with charges for identical services in our local market and certainly good value for the services performed.

Review: I entered a contest that if I won would have awarded me a free two year lease on a [redacted]. Well, I won, so I thought. The flyer that was posted simply stated that in order to win you must be 18 or older and reside in ** or **. After winning I found out that I had to meet certain credit requirements, this after I added the car to my insurance policy. They now ask me to share in the cost of the car lease as their leasing company now wants to charge them 9% on the lease. I thought sure no problem, but now they wanted me to switch the insurance from ** where I recently moved from to ** which was going to make it even more expensive. I now asked for if the could pay me the cash value of the prize and I was told no, since the purpose of the contest was to put the car on the road. Well now three weeks later I have nothing but on their website they have a video of me in the car stating that I won the car and drove away in it. So where do I go from here. Maybe a lawsuit?Desired Settlement: At this point they have ruined the shock and surprise of winning and would rather have them offer me the cash value of the car lease to help pay my alimony and child support.....
