Initial Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2016/05/09) */
This inspection was performed by an inspector who no longer works for my company. I am willing to give her the entire fee she paid for this inspection. NOTHING MORE.

Rebuttal /* (3000, 19, 2016/05/16) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We paid $400.00 for a home inspection company listed with American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) to alert us to the present conditions of the home we were considering and possibly to negotiate with the seller to repair any items.
In original complaint, eight items were listed.
1. Outdoor AC disconnect was repaired by Mr. Electric $282.41
2. Broken window seal repair estimate by All Glass LLC $150.00
3. Insulation 16x48x9 at Lowes $48.58 X 2 packages =97.16 +$8.00sales tax = $105.16
We are not charging for labor.
4. Bath sink drain repaired by cut 1/2 inch off drain pipe by Son Plumbing $ 90.00
Subtotal $627.50
Receipts are available
5. Leaky shop roof, 6. house gutters corners leaking, 7. Use of non-existent terminology "berm rod", 8. lack of gutters on shop creating a slip hazard are not addressed.
Your firm is asking me to settle for $400 when I have already spent $627 for items your former employee missed? A company I hired in good faith, member of professional organization.
I pointed out to [redacted] electrical issues like the misaligned outdoor PVC which the seller corrected. Adding the AC disconnect which is required by NEC Code 440 would not have cost that much more since the electrician was already at the job site.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 26, 2016/06/01) */
My offer still stands for a full refund of the inspection.
1) This home is located where no building codes exist; therefore an A/C disconnect is not required.
2) The pole barn was not a part of the inspection. We only inspect homes and detached garages; NOT POLE BARNS!
3) This lady made repairs to plumbing before she contacted me. One of my best friends is a master plumber who could have solved her problem for me.
**I will refund her money for the inspection and NO MORE. TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 28, 2016/06/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
We will accept A-1 Home Inspections offer to refund our money. We paid $400.00 for their incomplete home inspection.
For the record, company states " #1, This home is located where no building codes exist; therefore an A/C disconnect is not required" 1a.customer states The home is in Greene County and according to Greene County Building Regulations (phone XXX-XXX-XXXX),"construction and electrical inspections have been required since the 1960's" or about 50 years before our home was built. 1b. customer states The National Fire Protection Association publishes a electrician's code book, National Electric Code (NEC) 2011 edition, section 440.12 requires a disconnect outside near the central AC unit.
For the record, company states #3 "This lady made repairs to plumbing before she contacted me. One of my best friends is a master plumber who could have solved her problem for me".
Customer states: February 10, 2016 sent a letter to A-1 Home Inspections outlining 7 major items the inspector missed including the elevated sink drain in the bathroom, no response was received from the company. March 4th we hired the plumber.
The broken window seal, leaking gutter corners, lack of guttering on the pole barn creating an icy slip hazard, missing insulation have not been addressed.
Fortunately, [redacted] no longer works for the company.
We will accept A-1 offer to refund our money.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 16, 2015/06/01) */
This lady bought a brand new home. She told me that she was dissatisfied with her builder and wanted to have an inspection to make sure everything was done and to compile a list of repairs needed before she closed. My inspector [redacted] went to...

the home that she had under contract and performed a very thorough inspection. The two items that she refers to that he supposedly missed being the windows and the leak behind the toilet was discovered prior to closing and therefore was taken care of by the builder.
I do admit that I was very busy and had good intentions of going and meeting her at her home but her schedule did not jive with my schedule. She wanted some compensation and I had already paid my inspector for the job and didn't feel like compensation was necessary in this case because it didn't cost her a dime and we were not negligent in any way shape or form.
If you will look at our history of how long we have been in business and how many complaints we have had after performing over 19,000 home inspections in and around the Springfield area, you will find out that we have had only 2 people complain. I always go above and beyond to make sure that my customers are satisfied and happy with the service that we provide. This lady is just one of those difficult people that you just can't make happy.
She left me the only negative [redacted] review that I've ever had also. I will not give her one single penny back.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Yes, my contractor was difficult but I put all my trust in A-1 just to find disappointment. I think the owner had it out for me anyways because after my inspection I told him how I felt about [redacted] left me very uneasy and made my mom and I feel extremely uncomftorable as he kept starring inappropriately. It was also very rude that he would stop in the middle of his inspection to take a smoke break. When I told [redacted] he talked to [redacted] and said it left a bad taste in his mouth with my name. How is this my fault? I'm just stating it as it is. Constructive criticism, it needed to be said.
Yes, actually it did cost me money. It not only cost me time but there were a few other things I was responsible for fixing. It just angered me even me after I live in the house little things that didn't get checked after saying how "thorough" they would be. If [redacted] really wanted to get respect back from his customers he could at least be nice on the phone. I never once raised my voice But he was quick to say hateful things. He can answer his phone when it's conveinant. He could've made time to meet me. He needed to see the mistakes that were missed when I had to call the plumber back, call the manufacturer for the windows, & call the electrician. He's nowhere to be found when you need him. Just own up to it they made a mistake just be loyal to your word. I did give a negative [redacted] review because he deserved it. That is not the only negative review I will ever give either if he doesn't take responsibility. If he just fixes the problem I will delete my [redacted] review. Word of mouth goes a long way. I am not one of "those people" that can't be satisfied. I've had 2 incidents in my life that I wasn't. At least my contractor owned up and fixed his mistakes.
