The Law Offices of Robert Weed Reviews (2)

Review: In May 2013, I met with Robert Weed (in the [redacted] office) regarding legal services for bankruptcy. This was the initial complimentary (key word here) consultation as advertised on his website. We spoke and he collected additional information from me. Mr. Weed also explained his fee schedule and told me an installment of $350 would "retain" his services. I paid the $350 fee (I still have copy of the check). However, after I paid the fee, this office (both Mr. Weed and his paralegal ([redacted]) no longer seem to be interested in responding to my question (1 question) or providing any legal advising. After numerous e-mails of the same question that went unanswered (and still unanswered). numerous calls with an equal non-response (at least they're consistent), I decided this arrangement was not going to work for me. So on JULY 12, 2013, I sent a letter (by email and USPS) to Mr. Weed to terminate his services, send any paperwork in my file, and return all fees I have paid ($350) to my attention. Since, to my knowledge, no services were rendered. I received an e-mail from Mr. Weed to inform me that it would take a couple days...an email dated July 12, 2013...Today is December 18, 2013 - by my definition this is much more than a couple days. I also received, on that same day, a voice mail message from his paralegal, [redacted] to inquire about where to send the returned fee and paperwork. I responded to [redacted] via email immediately (July 12) to give her the address of my residence (keep in mind, they already had this information). In keeping with my experience with this firm, I have yet to receive a response, my file, or my money. Every indication points to the fact they have no intention of responding. I expect to be refunded immediately. More than months, is unacceptable and only validates my decision to such an unprofessional group of people.Desired Settlement: Full refund of fees paid totaling $350 immediately. Sent to my home address they have on file and I sent to them on July 12, 2013.

I agree with everything [redacted] says.

Review: In Novermber of 2012 I paid a $700 retainer to the attorney. No legal services were provided other then occasional emails between myself and the attorneys paralegal. I found a new attorney that would do my job for half the price and asked for a refund since no legal services were given to me. Only a short collection of pay stubs and emails back and forth with the paralegal. I ended up paying a total of $1150 to the attorney but was only refunded $450. I asked for my full refund back but he refused, he wrote me a check for $450 and shoed my out of his office. This after his paralegal stated to me in an email that there is no refund for legal services. The Law office of Robert Weed handled my entire case unprofessionally and I am VERY dissatisfied with them. I do not understand how they are a Revdex.com accredited business. Please advise the above.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my $700 retainer returned to me. No legal services in that amount were performed.

**. [redacted]:

Returned your call over the weekend.

[redacted] hired us in November 2012 and agreed to a payment schedule and work schedule that would file his bankruptcy case in January 2013. He postponed, as many folks needed to do when life interferes. He got back on schedule for April, and he came in with only part of the updated info we needed to have his case ready.

Since we had moved along somewhat, we kept after him to complete the info. We did not want what we had to grow stale. So we continued to try to work with him to complete his case, until July.

Altogether I have fifteen pages of notes showing how we tried to answer his questions and get the info we needed form him to finish our work.

In July, he told us that his father had done A LOT of business with a different bankruptcy lawyer and as a result had been able to negotiate a family discount price for that lawyer to handle it. I was happy to hear that. [redacted] had paid us $1150 of the $2995 he had agreed to back in November. I promptly refunded $450.00.

I'm attaching for background that fifteen pages of computer notes I have on this case. We put a lot of work and a lot of time into it. Most of that time ended up being wasted, for **. [redacted]. But he did get some benefit for his money. Part of the reason he was able to hold off filing bankruptcy from last fall to this summer was because he was using my name when the debt collectors called. He would have gotten sued if he had not been able to tell people bankruptcy was right around the corner.

If the Revdex.com thinks a bigger refund is reasonable, I will absolutely send it.
