I used my social security to pay the $1400 it was a hardship he took advantage and is inscrupulous he told me I had a bad reputation around town which I do not it’s all written in texts that I have he lured me in to give my files back and a refund but then once I got there he said I don’t get one he did the work he did nothing and he does advise law without a license with the state bar in California

The Legal Document Company Response • Mar 02, 2020

Thank you for giving the opportunity to submit my response in this matter. Mr. came to my "legal document assistant" office some time in 2019. He was carrying an armload of discovery documents related to a lawsuit that he was involved in. Mr. was very unhappy with the law firm that had been previously representing him. I was under the impression that they had informed him that they would no longer be representing him and that he should pick up his documents. Due to the large amount of documents that needed to be prepared, I gave Mr. a specially priced package in order to help him. Once again, I reiterated the fact that I was not a California-licensed attorney and could not give him legal advice (I had made certain when he first called me that he was aware of this). I confirmed with him that I could only prepare legal documents at his direction. He assured me that he understood and he signed my standard contracts which once again spelled out my abilities and limitations and that no refunds were given. Mr. then paid me by check. Because he presented me with numerous papers, I asked him to let me know which ones had to be responded to first and asked for him to provide me with the answers so that I could put them in proper form. He responded by telling me that he was in the middle of a criminal prosecution in Los Angeles, but that he would get the information to me as soon as possible - if he wasn't put in jail in the meantime. When I presented his check to his bank, the bank informed me that the check would not clear. I immediately contacted Mr., and in order to help Mr., worked out a plan where he would pay a partial amount at that time and the remainder shortly thereafter. While he did make an initial payment to me, he did not follow through on the payment plan agreed to. Some time went by before I spoke with Mr. again, and I feared that he might be in jail. Finally, he called me and said that he had talked to the attorneys "on the other side" and that they were going to resend him the discovery requests and give him extra time in which to file responses. I asked him to get them to me ASAP along with his responses. Once again, some time went by before I heard from Mr. again. In the meantime, he sent me a Facebook Friend Request, which I did not accept. Some more time passed, and one day I checked the locked "mailbox" that I had had installed next to my front door for clients to drop off papers. Unbeknownst to me, inside were some new papers left by Mr.. I texted him and asked him to please let me know when he dropped papers off to me. I also asked him where his responses were as well as the remainder of the payment that he owed which was well past-due. I noticed a complete shift in his attitude toward me. (I wondered if he had been angered by my refusal to accept his friend request.) At that point he demanded that I alone should come up with the responses on my own. I reminded him that as a legal document assistant, I could not do that and that I would put them in proper form ASAP once he returned the responses to me. We agreed that I would leave the papers somewhere for him to pick up and that he would prepare the answers before returning them to me. Shortly, thereafter, I began getting hostile demands from him for a complete refund. I reminded him of the terms of my contract and he became quite belligerent. I even offered to extend the payment of the amount due so that we could get the responses prepared in a timely fashion. He refused and demanded a complete refund at that moment. I informed him that I was at a hearing and that I could have him come in on, I believe the following day, to pick up all of his paperwork, if he so desired. At that time, because I was at a hearing, he accused me of practicing law without being licensed in California. I reminded him of something that he had been well aware of - that I represented claimants seeking disability before the Social Security Administration. I also reminded him that any lay person could be such a representative.I had all of his paperwork ready for Mr. when he showed up at my office. Once again I told him that I would work with him on the remaining payment that was due and that I would prepare the documents a soon as he provided me with his responses. He became borderline hostile. After I had escorted him to the front door of my office, he began yelling at the top of his lungs for no apparent reason, "You are on Crystal-Meth! You are on Crystal-Meth!" I quickly locked my door and yelled to him that he really needed to see about getting some help.To say that Mr. actions during this entire time were highly unusual would be an understatement. I bent over backwards on numerous occasions in order to try to help him, but Mr. seemed to be in no condition to help himself. The text messages on my phone confirm a great deal of what I have relayed to you above. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

Customer Response • Mar 02, 2020

I am rejecting this response because: it’s a lot of untrue dialogue defending himself which is the complaint to start with he did not review documents and would not do anything until he got $2000 period. He also returned files from another client with mine in which he did the interagatories for them and a request sheet and the complete package which I should have received also but I got nothing but my original files back and his clients that shows he never went through them and I missed my court date for the responses. I did it myself and he refused to refund as he said no refund but then he turns around and says for $600 more he will do them that’s like extortion and he blasted his character assignation first and I broght a witness that saw the whole meeting and his non professional and no ethics behavior he said I was known around town for discretions which was a lie and slander. He is licensed in LA and made me promise that I would not let anyone know he was going to give legal advice which he would have to do to do the interagatories correctly and I did them. He is very unprofessional and he should not write all those lies. My witness will back next up.
