The Light Before Christmas, LLC Reviews (5)

My name is [redacted] , second year council member, from the Village of [redacted] I was unhappy with the response I received from The Light Before Christmas,LLC, (aka’TLBC’), the company which I held a complaint against in August 2014, for the work and service they refused to provide/correct for us from the christmas season in I expect, by this process of 'adding information' to the complaint, you, The Dispute Resolution team, will look back over the previous interactions between TLBC,LLC and I within your Revdex.com reporting process to receive all the background information.I have a couple supporting documents, that I would like to use to address the issues I expressed with the company, in hopes that they will proveTLBC’s wrong in our customer/provider relationship.Attachment 1: Invoice from Adams Tree Care LLC.(This is the company The Village voted upon hiring for the most recent tree lighting season, Christmas 2014.) The Light Before Christmas left me with a refusal to admit they had left a decorative star and any lights on the top of our tree in the Village SquareEven with a follow up email sent to TLBC containing a actual picture of the said star and residual lighting left behind, TLBC said that IF there were any lights remaining, that upon the rehiring of their company for the following year, would they put the work into removing any said lights. This invoice provided to The Village from our most recent tree lighting season, shows that The Village was charged by a reputable company for removal of previous lights from the past yearThis is stated on line one of the Description “Take old lights out of Pine $580.00” What the invoice doesn’t say is that the lights and decorations from the previous season went on to damage the Village treeThe fee from adams tree care provides the proof that TLBC did in fact leave lights on the tree and we were charged a second time for their removal by another company.Attachment 2: Original invoice from TLBC,LLC.TLBC received a $payment from the Village for what’s seen in their estimate summary on the invoice as “Boom Rental, Includes Install and Take Down”I was told by [redacted] that the amount actually charged for takedown alone amounted to about $This is the amount that I originally asked TLBC to compensate the Village due to the fact that the lights were not taken down in their entirety as assumed by the VillageThis simple act of making it right on their part, would have been more than acceptable in the Council’s response to TLBC’s discrepancy. Also, the company refused to admit their wrong in agreeing to “light” a tree that they only had verbal confirmation in its size The tree was “too big for them to light in the first place" and remove lights from safelyTLBC refers to the tree as an “XL Tree” in their invoice to the VillageI find it comical that the invoice shows a ‘virtually decorated’ Village of [redacted] tree, with a picture of the very treeTLBC committed to the size of the tree based on “seeing” the tree via email, rather than sending a representative out to our square for the visual confirmation they say they neededTo me, this shows me that the $3,agreement with the Village was worth it to them, no matter what the actual heightThe invoice served as a letter of intent, that stated the company would also charge the Village for the removal of the lightsThe Village paid the invoice in full and the lights were never removed.I hope these two new documents can serve to show where the Village was in fact wronged and never was amended with by this company. In finality, I am requesting that the light before Christmas stands by their integrity and invoice and pays retribution for the hours spent in recouping our Village moniesI ask them to reimburse our payment to them of $for the removal of their lights in the original invoice, but also to now pay the Village for the $amount that was later spent to make the problem they incurred upon the Village right, for a total of $780.Please contact me if there is anything else I can provide to you, if and when The Light Before Christmas, LLC steps up to admitting their lack of service.Thank you for looking further into this matter, and adding this important info to our previous dispute and hopeful resolution process.Sincerely, [redacted]

The Light Before Christmas (TLBC) did provide exceptional service to the Village When the Village contacted TLBC on 11/6/13, City Board Member [redacted] informed us that they had issues with the company they used in for the lighting installation and the removal of the lights from was never performed The Village contracted TLBC for the installation and removal of all lights belonging only to TLBC As previously stated, the actual cost for the installation was $5, The Village had limited funds for their lighting ceremony, so TLBC provided the Village a discount of $2,for the additional materials used and services rendered During the removal of all lights belonging to TLBC on 1/31/14, we removed over strands of non-working lights from the installation at no additional charge to the Village On 4/2/14, we informed the Village Administrator that there were a few strands in the tree; however, those lights were from the installation We were not contracted to remove those lights The Light Before Christmas did perform all services contracted by the Village We provided extra material and labor as needed to have an incredible result for the Village’s lighting ceremony at the expense of The Light Before Christmas TLBC has exceeded the original scope of work No additional discounts or refunds will be provided

The Light Before Christmas (TLBC) was first contacted on
11-6-by a City Board Member named *** ***. *** ***
requested an estimate
for lighting on a tree located in the center of
town. The Village informed us that they
needed the estimate that day. In order
to accommodate their request, TLBC agreed to do the estimate based only on the description
of the tree provided by *** ***.
*** *** said the tree was 60’ tall and lights from the previous
year’s installation were still in the tree.
The Village had issues with the previous company used for the
installation, so removal of the lights was never performed.
TLBC’s maximum installation height is 20’. The estimate provided to the Village included
the cost for installation and removal of all lights and lighting material
belonging to TLBC. The cost for a boom
truck rental was also included due to the extreme height of the tree. On 11-21-13, TLBC was informed that the
Village had limited funds for the tree lighting. The lighting ceremony was scheduled for
12-8-13. TLBC provided a discount to
lower the cost due to the funding constraints of the Village. The original estimate for the installation was
$3,610.00. After the discount we
offered, the cost was $3,249.00.
When the installation crew arrived on site, it was
discovered that the tree was actually over 80’ tall. The boom truck rented for the installation
did not reach that height. Due to the
time constraints of the Village for the lighting ceremony, we were unable to
acquire a larger boom truck, and the Village did not have the funds for
additional charges. To successfully
perform the installation, TLBC sent all of our managers to the
installation. The managers climbed the
tree to the areas the boom truck couldn’t reach to install lights at the top of
the tree. The increased size of the tree
required significantly more lights and labor than originally estimated. Understanding the funding constraints of the
Village, TLBC installed the number of lights necessary to properly light the
tree for the ceremony without charging the Village. The actual cost for the installation was $5,275.00. TLBC only charged the Village $3,249.00.
On 12-16-13, the Village contacted TLBC and informed us some
lights at the top of the tree were not working.
A management team arrived on site on 12-19-13. Again, the Village could not afford another
boom truck rental. The managers climbed
the tree to do the repair at the top of the 80’ tree at no charge to the
Village.
On 1-31-TLBC removed the strands we installed as well as
over non-working strands from the installation. Our cost for removing lights that do not
belong to us is $per man hour. The
cost to remove the other company’s lights from this tree was $450.00. We performed this service at no charge to the
Village.
On 4-2-14, we were informed that there were still lights in
the tree. Our Operations Manager went to
the property to do an assessment for residual lights. There were a few strands at the top of the
tree; however, those strands did not belong to TLBC. A message was left for the Village
Administrator to inform her that the remaining lights were not the property of
TLBC.
On 6-12-*** *** contacted TLBC regarding the
lights that were still in the tree. She
also said a star ornament was at the top of the tree. TLBC was not contracted, nor did we install
any stars or ornaments on the tree. In
our last communications with *** ***, we explained the extent of the
additional services provided at no charge to the Village, including the
numerous hours in unsafe conditions navigating the tree to provide the best
service possible. We offered to remove
the lights remaining from the other company during any scheduled lighting
service in the season.
The Light Before Christmas has provided exceptional service
to the Village as well as a discount of $2,for additional materials and
services rendered. We maintain our offer
to remove the lights remaining from the other company during a scheduled lighting
service in the season. TLBC has far
exceeded the original scope of work contracted by the Village. No additional discounts will be provided

The Light Before Christmas (TLBC) did provide exceptional
service to the Village.  When the Village
contacted TLBC on 11/6/13, City Board Member [redacted] informed us that
they had issues with the company they used in 2012 for the lighting
installation and the removal of the lights from 2012 was never performed.  The Village contracted TLBC for the
installation and removal of all lights belonging only to TLBC.
As previously stated, the actual cost for the installation
was $5,275.00.  The Village had limited
funds for their lighting ceremony, so TLBC provided the Village a discount of
$2,026.00 for the additional materials used and services rendered.  During the removal of all lights belonging to
TLBC on 1/31/14, we removed over 100 strands of non-working lights from the
2012 installation at no additional charge to the Village.  On 4/2/14, we informed the Village Administrator
that there were a few strands in the tree; however, those lights were from the
2012 installation.  We were not
contracted to remove those lights.
The Light Before Christmas did perform all services
contracted by the Village.  We provided
extra material and labor as needed to have an incredible result for the Village’s
lighting ceremony at the expense of The Light Before Christmas.  TLBC has exceeded the original scope of
work.  No additional discounts or refunds
will be provided.

The Light Before Christmas left me with a refusal to admit they had left a decorative star and any lights on the top of our tree in the Village Square. Even with a follow up email sent to TLBC containing a actual picture of the said star and residual lighting left behind, TLBC  said that IF there were any lights remaining, that upon the rehiring of their company for the following 2015 year, would they put the work into removing any said lights. This invoice provided to The Village from our most recent tree lighting season, shows that The Village was charged by a reputable company for removal of previous lights from the past year. This is stated on line one of the Description “Take old lights out of Pine…$580.00” What the invoice doesn’t say is that the lights and decorations from the previous season went on to damage the Village tree. The fee from adams tree care provides the proof that TLBC did in fact leave lights on the tree and we were charged a second time for their removal by another company.Attachment 2: Original invoice from TLBC,LLC.TLBC received a $500 payment from the Village for what’s seen in their estimate summary on the invoice as “Boom Rental, Includes Install and Take Down”. I was told by [redacted] that the amount actually charged for takedown alone amounted to about $200. This is the amount that I originally asked TLBC to compensate the Village due to the fact that the lights were not taken down in their entirety as assumed by the Village. This simple act of making it right on their part, would have been more than acceptable in the Council’s response to TLBC’s discrepancy. Also, the company refused to admit their wrong in agreeing to “light” a tree that they only had verbal confirmation in its size.  The tree was “too big for them to light in the first place" and remove lights from safely. TLBC refers to the tree as an “XL Tree” in their invoice to the Village. I find it comical that the invoice shows a ‘virtually decorated’  Village of [redacted] tree, with a picture of the very tree. TLBC committed to the size of the tree based on “seeing” the tree via email, rather than sending a representative out to our square for the visual confirmation they say they needed. To me, this shows me that the $3,249 agreement with the Village was worth it to them, no matter what the actual height. The invoice served as a letter of intent, that stated the company would also charge the Village for the removal of the lights.
