The Mahoney Group

In January 2014 we were out of the country for the whole month. We had Chubb homeowners Insurance for 20+ years and didn't realize our payment was due while we were gone. We returned and realized payment was past due. We paid by credit card and received confirmation. It wasn't until late June when an agent from Mahoney sent us a letter. She was our new Mahoney agent and our auto premium was due. The letter also indicated this was our only policy.I thought this was a mistake but when I called I was told our homeowners was cancelled for non payment even though we paid the premium in February. We were told the premium had been returned. We checked and this was true but not until mid March over a month later. After being with Mahoney for over 20 years they should have contacted us in January when the the policy was at risk of being cancelled. They had our phone numbers, office number and email addresses for me and my wife. They should have contacted us when the policy was cancelled. Instead they left us uninsured for almost 6 months. They couldn't get us replacement coverage at that time except at a much higher premium because we had been without insurance for so long. if our agent had done their job we would have never been put in this position. I now have USAA insurance and actually am saving money.
