This customer filled out a request for a sprinkler blowout on 11/28/ 9:12:AM, from I.Paddress [redacted] For this request to go through, the terms of service box has to be checked In these terms of service, #reads, "I can cancel my request, but must notify "The Maintenance Shop" of my cancellation by filling out the cancellation form located here: http://treasurevalleyrepairs.com/cancellation.html, and must do so at least hours before The Maintenance Shop will be in my area, or face a $trip charge if you show up at my property." The link to the terms of service in it's entirety is located here: http://treasurevalleyrepairs.com/terms-of-service.html Mid day on November I showed up at the property to do the sprinkler blowout I immediately recognized it as a home I had done sprinkler blowouts and home repairs for several years When I knocked on the door a guy answered who I though may have been a tenant because the house had previously been a rental I told him I was there to do the sprinkler blowout, and he asked who I was with I told him, and said that Melissa R [redacted] had made the request He informed me at that time that Melissa was the new owner He said that she had contacted a few different companies and had found a company that would do it for $ He called Melissa on the phone while I was standing there When the call was over he informed me to not do the sprinkler blowout I told him that with our policy and terms that she agreed to, she would receive a $non-cancellation trip charge ash she agreed when the form was submitted He told me that he didn't care, because he didn't sign up We performed around sprinkler blowouts this season, and have only had to send non-cancellation invoices to customers, in which case have already paid We received cancellations following the proper channels, but every year we get a small amount who do not follow the terms they agreed to and are charged We stopped taking new sprinkler blowout requests at the end of the day on December 4, and it stated that clearly on our site, but we still had 30-new requests come in so we completely removed the form If the invoice is not paid, I will have no choice but to follow through as agreed in the terms of service If I pick and choose which ones to enforce, it could jeopardize the terms of service with all my customers Attached is the customer's original form filled out and save as a PDF file

When I arrived at the property I noticed a small amount of water in the main 10" round when I started, but didn't think much of it because I run into several that are totally full of water when I open up the cap and look inside. I attempted to turn off the valve as I have done on 12,000+ other
sprinkler blowouts, and at least 5,sprinkler startups, and with only a partial turn I noticed water starting to spray out from the valve. I was able to get it under control where it was only trickling so I could blow out the sprinkler system
I knocked on the door to let them know of the issue, but no one was home. I had no cell service the entire day while in Avimore, and later above Hidden Springs doing sprinkler blowouts, so I was unable to call. By the time I reached a cell service area, it was very late in the evening. Since it appeared to be leaking only slowly at the time I sent an email with the invoice telling of the problem. I knew from experience it probably would not hold for long
As per the complainants experts, I can share just as many if not more that the majority of the time those valves break from being turned on too hard. The valves can actually come apart at the threads because they unthread in the same direction as turning the valve handle in a counter-clockwise fashion to open the valve
With more than 12,sprinkler blowouts behind us, I have seen that happen only about a dozen times, and have repaired many of them from customers themselves turning the valves on or off and they come apart
I replaced a valve on a sprinkler system of another customer two years ago, did the blowout, and the following spring when this customer turned on his system he had hardly any water pressure. The reason was the screw holding the washer in place inside the valve had come loose, and the washer was trapped in the water line causing the blockage. This was a brand new high quality valve. Even new valves can develop issues
All of this is a mute point because the complainant agreed to our terms of service releasing us of any liability regarding their sprinkler main and drain valves. They submitted a form for a sprinkler blowout which required that the terms of service be agreed to before the form was submitted, and the form will not submit without checking the box stating, "I Agree To The Terms Of Service." These terms of service can be located here: http://treasurevalleyrepairs.com/terms-of-service.html
The part regarding the issue at hand is #of the sprinkler blowout terms of service section which states, "If no blowout port is available, and a test ck on a backflow preventer or vacuum breaker has to be used to properly blowout the system, The Maintenance Shop is not responsible for damages to such devicesFURTHERMORE, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE MAINTENANCE SHOP IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES TO MAIN AND DRAIN VALVES THROUGH TURNING ON AND TURNING OFF PROCEDURES." (Capitalized for emphasis to this complaint.)
I am sorry this happened to them, but we added that to our terms of service a long time ago because we run into systems that are very old with corroded valves, but it can happen with new valves, just not as often. Obviously, we do not intentionally want to cause damage to a system. It takes a lot of time out of our day when problems occur as we have nearly 1,sprinkler blowouts to complete, and would prefer no issues at all

This customer filled out a request for a sprinkler blowout on 11/28/2016  9:12:59 AM, from I.P. address [redacted].  For this request to go through, the terms of service box has to be checked.  In these terms of service, #8 reads, "I can cancel my request, but must notify "The...

Maintenance Shop" of my cancellation by filling out the cancellation form located here: http://treasurevalleyrepairs.com/cancellation.html, and must do so at least 24 hours before The Maintenance Shop will be in my area, or face a $25.00 trip charge if you show up at my property."  The link to the terms of service in it's entirety is located here: http://treasurevalleyrepairs.com/terms-of-service.html
Mid day on November 29 I showed up at the property to do the sprinkler blowout.  I immediately recognized it as a home I had done sprinkler blowouts and home repairs for several years.  When I knocked on the door a guy answered who I though may have been a tenant because the house had previously been a rental.  I told him I was there to do the sprinkler blowout, and he asked who I was with.  I told him, and said that Melissa R[redacted] had made the request.  He informed me at that time that Melissa was the new owner.  He said that she had contacted a few different companies and had found a company that would do it for $25.  He called Melissa on the phone while I was standing there.  When the call was over he informed me to not do the sprinkler blowout.  I told him that with our policy and terms that she agreed to, she would receive a $25 non-cancellation trip charge ash she agreed when the form was submitted.  He told me that he didn't care, because he didn't sign up.
We performed around 970 sprinkler blowouts this season, and have only had to send non-cancellation invoices to 5 customers, in which case 3 have already paid.  We received 283 cancellations following the proper channels, but every year we get a small amount who do not follow the terms they agreed to and are charged.
We stopped taking new sprinkler blowout requests at the end of the day on December 4, and it stated that clearly on our site, but we still had 30-40 new requests come in so we completely removed the form.
If the invoice is not paid, I will have no choice but to follow through as agreed in the terms of service.  If I pick and choose which ones to enforce, it could jeopardize the terms of service with all my customers.
