The Mansion at Maple Heights

Review: "Complaint Type" includes: Refund/ exchange issues, advertising issues, and contract issues.I am writing in complaint of the business practices conducted at The Mansion at Maple Heights, located at: 5516 Maple Heights Road Pittsburgh, PA 15232. [redacted] and I toured the facility in April of this year. On 5/23/13, I authorized a phone charge in the amount of $4031.50 in order to reserve a wedding date in 2014. This was done with the Wedding and Event General Manager, [redacted] who was the same person that had given us a tour in April. Four days later, we requested a refund of all monies. We were informed at that time that the entire payment was non-refundable, which is also particularly questionable since the deposit required was only $1,500.00. That was the first time we were informed that any type of deposit was non-refundable. The financial documents provided to us at the time of the tour in a general information packet included a payment schedule, which does not state that the deposit is non-refundable. These and additional documents are available upon request. When [redacted] took the credit card number over the phone, she also did not inform me that the deposit was non-refundable. I did not become aware of this until she emailed me later that day with a contract to sign, which stated that the full amount she had charged was not refundable. Neither [redacted] nor I signed this contract, or any other document with them at any time. We have no verbal or written agreement that this money was non-refundable, and therefore have no legal obligation to The Mansion. I have explained to them that I made a good faith deposit with anticipation of entering into a contract, and as the Mansion has not provided any service to either my fianc or myself to date, I informed them that they have no legal right to retain my money and requested a full refund. However, they have been generally unresponsive to attempts to contact them by phone, along with minimal contact by email. They have also chosen not to provide us with upper administration contact information so that this matter may be resolved directly, whom I had been informed are the only ones that could authorize a refund. This was so despite this being requested twice to [redacted] and by phone conversation with the other site manager, Sean. The Mansion has at this point refused to return any portion of my money and has also not returned my phone calls. This is unfair business practice and also illegal. I am writing to notify you of these circumstances, and am also requesting that the business practices of this facility be further investigated.Desired Settlement: Full refund due in the amount of $4031.50.

Review: I am very upset that after being relocated to another area of the mansion that was not cleaned or maintained we were never contacted. After numourous phone calls management stated they issued a check but after contacting the bank we were informed the check was fraudulant. Phone calls are not returned and neither is emails or letters.Desired Settlement: I am at the point where this needs to go legal. A refund is all I wanted for the 1 night we were relocated but I am pas t that point.
