Will Not cancel my membership
I have attempted to cancel my membership multiple times. I have been told they cannot expect cancellation over the phone. Please see the attached documents.
Will Not cancel my membership

Filthy!
Allentown club is disgusting! No cleaning crew - Unless you complain the "[censored]" in the bathrooms stays. You would think, at least during Covid-19 that they would make an attempt to be clean. ALSO- even thou we currently have been having heat wave after heat wave. NO AIR CONDITIONING - 88-90 degrees inside the gym. Not healthy to even try to workout. Front desk says corporate knows but still nothing gets done.

Buyer Beware!!!!
Buyer Beware!

Make sure you read and understand the fine print in any contract you sign.

Signed a 6 month contract ($160/month) for personal training January 2020. Gym closed down in March due to Covid-19. When reopened in June I was uncomfortable using the gym until I felt safe using the equipment. Was told I could freeze payment for 3 months. Then it unfroze I would only need to pay the final 3 months of the contract.

When I noticed they took out another $160 the other day I went to Maxx Fitness and asked if this was a error because I had completed the contract.

Their rude and condescending response was that the contract auto renews, didn't you read the contract. Not only was this not pointed out when I signed the contract, it was not brought up when I froze payments for 3 months. They specifically led me to believe that I only needed to pay the remaining 3 payments. Nothing about needing to come back to cancel the contract in person or it would auto-renew.

When I expressed my distain for these type of unprofessional actions. I got nothing but it being totally my fault for not reading the fine print buried deep within their multi page contract.

I am sure that with the current Covid-19 environment there are other people who have had a similar experience.

Buyer Beware! I guess I should not be surprised that a business is going to do whatever to get more money from their clients.

One star being not good would be a compliment
Try negative 5 star. Because this gym will leave your bank account in the negative. Please carefully read all the other really atrocious comments being made and how the comments directly align with others. Also, keep into consideration that it's rare for customers to go out of there way to write a really fantastic review. Now read these reviews common threads and visit the following:

I signed up in 2019 since than I've been injured in the gym with a sciatica under the lengthy fine cut agreement it states that the agreement can be forfeited if an individual is unable to utilize the gym due to an injury that would inhibit an individual to perform physical exercise. The agreement must be met with a doctor's letter illustrating such. It is now December 2020 and I have also, moved out of state and the gym is still attempting to charge my account thousands of dollars leaving my much needed COVID relief money gone and in the negative after being laid off of work and struggling to get by I had to finally close my bank account with several voicemails to the regional manager with no response.

These criminals will do any and everything even if it entails opposing there own set policies and procedures such as manipulating there name as the merchant to charge your bank account until you close your account than from the reviews per better business bureau they'll send your account to a collections agency with a falsified debt claim.

Run the other way would be a better workout for your health, pocket and sanity sign up and they'll run your bank account to the Maxx!

Maxx fitness sucks. They rob people. Even a lease is reviewed yearly they keep taking money dont check records for people not going and maybe giving a courtesy call. You are all gung ho when you want to sign us up and take our money. RIPOFF and the establishment looks run down staff is very unprofessional!

They took four months of training and I only got sessions instead of 12. So they owe me more or refund and they owe me the 4th month at least plus the charges that my bank charged me. thank you

Stay away from Maxx Fitness Club in Quakertown. They are liars and thieves who steal your money through a ridiculous cancellation policy! My wife cancelled our membership within hours of joining and was told she would have to pay $116 as a buy out for cancellation. Many attempts to resolve the situation amicably were in vain.

The manager would not get his boss to speak to my wife and would not give any contact information for the people higher up- no e mail no phone nothing! He just told her to go on the website and obviously there was no contact information there either. She was able to write her grievance on FB and that was when the manager's boss contacted her only to waive my cancellation fee but still grabbed my wife's.

Horrible customer service! Arrogant and unhelpful manager! Would never advice any one to go there!

+2

Don't go to the Quakertown Maxx fitness. They steal your money, their customer service is horrible! their cancellation policy is not only unethical but it's fraudulent!and their employees are incompetent and not properly trained!
I signed up for the platinum deal for both my husband and I at the new Quakertown Maxx fitness club and was given an appointment with a trainer for noon but on my way home, my husband and I decided that it was not a good fit for our family and I called Maxx Fitness in Quakertown and cancelled my appointment as well as my membership (within about 2 hours of joining ) to which I was told that I had to go in person to sign a cancellation form. I asked the employee if there was a time limit after which I would be penalized if I had not cancelled by that time and she said" no you can come in at any time" I informed her that I would be working through the weekend and would not be able to go till after Saturday and her response was "that's fine". I went in today to sign the cancellation form and to my amazement both the manager and his boss Alex, refused to waive the buy out cancellation fee even though they agreed that their employee was incompetent and that " she would be reprimanded for giving me the wrong information" I was slammed with a $ 58.00 fee for cancellation even though legally the employee's word superseded the policy agreement I had signed. I could have gone back the same day and cancelled had not been told it was ok to cancel at any time! After a lot of going back and forth Alex agreed to waive my husband's cancellation fee of $58 but I had to loose my money because of their employee and yet they tried to blame it on me! Extremely ridiculous!

This matter has been situated already. A total of $99.95 has been refunded to the account on file. Refunds may take up to 30 business days to show in account.

Case #[redacted] Consumer - [redacted] Business - The Maxx Fitness Clubzz When a new membership is started at The Maxx it is explained verbally and in writing on the contract that for billing to cease a written notice must be provided to the club either in person or via...

certified first class mail, return receipt requested, to the location at which the consumer started the membership. In this case the consumer states that she spoke to someone over the phone, and it is against the policy of the club (as explained previously) to make any alterations to a member contract in this manner. I did speak to the consumer personally as they described, and agreed to cancel all future billing on the condition that they paid the amount previously due at that time. As of now the membership has been administratively cancelled, and can be placed back in good standing in the same process described to the member via my original conversation with her which would be making a payment for the amount listed due and described in her complaint.   The Maxx Fitness Clubzz1654 S 4th Street, Allentown, PA, 18103###-###-####

First of all do not reply with anymore lies as they are insulting and even more infuriating. Yes you called... I have the voicemail asking if I had received my refund... At that point I had, I was already beyond disgusted with the way the situation was handled and how I was treated and I was not about to subject myself to more of that. As for the LIES... I never said that MY account was overdrawn nor did MAXX FITNESS ever ask if that had happened or offered me any sort of help or resolution for something like that. I mentioned overdrafts because I've worked in banking and I have seem what overdrafts do to customers. To a big company $50, $100 even $1,000 is nothing but to a consumer it could mean not being able to pay rent, pay phone bill or buy groceries. Maxx Fitness and all companies need to be more aware of that. I appreciate that I was provided a refund... I don't appreciate the lying and lack of customer service. As far as I am concerned I am no longer dealing with your company because it is not worth it. I will properly cancel mine and my husbands memberships. Thank you.

Not one person explained to me how the refund would be processed. If they had the complaint wouldn't have been necessary, although I do think it is completely unacceptable that my refund be processed in two parts seeing as they easily took it all in ONE withdrawal! This company needs to train their employees how to properly do their jobs AND what to explain to customers. It's incredibly irritating to see this response from this company. The last person I spoke to there actually laughed at me and said I didn't cancel in time!!! The employees are rude, lack basic customer service and have ZERO empathy. I did get my refund which I am happy with. Hopefully going forward ALL employees will know how to process cancelation correctly and if another error does occur how to handle customers concerns correctly to not cause a larger issue. Also, the company should change to provide a full refund in one credit instead of two as it is unacceptable for a company to hold a customers hard earned money due to an error that was 100% their fault. Some of us live paycheck to paycheck so not having that money could cause bills to late, resulting in fees from those companies or over drafting of a bank account.
