The memorial Company

This complaint is in regards to monument engraving on an existing headstone, after the 12/12/2017 passing of my mother. My father was approached by a representative of the aforementioned organization at *** Cemetery in Lansdale, Pa, and paid $476.00 on 3/28/18 for the date of passing to be engraved upon the existing monument. Receipt reads approximate delivery date to be 24-28 weeks. (approx. 6 months). Despite multiple phone calls to the organization, and after receiving the bill for the remaining balance, the job has yet to be completed. Upon speaking with Greg S Sr. (owner), I was told that the company rarely works in that particular cemetery, despite soliciting my father at the site. Additionally, I was told that weather and the shortage of engravers were a factor, despite it being nearly two years later. This organization has several LLCs and/or other names, most notably, "Lifestone by Stefan," "Stefan Memorials," "*** Memorials," and "*** Memorials." I was later informed that the businesses and Stefan were sued by the State Attorney General's Office for violating consumer protection laws and widespread deceptive business practices, citing more than 50 cases.

I have purchased a marker from 1843 Memorial on 04/02/2019. I was promised a delivery by October 2019 pending weather.It is now JANUARY 27,2020 and we still do not have the marker at the grave site. They have been paid in full ($4673.00) and do not answer my calls or emails. I have also sent them certified mail which was never signed for. After researching this company I see that they have done the same thing to many others. Now they are telling me that the stone is still at the query and it may be done by February 2020. This company is a fraud and preys on weak and vulnerable at the worst time in their life. All I want is closure and marker at my wife's grave site so that I may be able to have something to look at rather than dirt. This is unacceptable and I would like further action on this horrible company. I also would like to protect anyone in the future who may consider dealing with this company. Beware they come to your house and state that the funeral company that you used sent them to your house (which is NOT true because I contacted the funeral Co) and that they want to help you with your memorial stone. Like I said I was still in a state of shock over my wife's death and I was very saddened and vulnerable and for these people to do that it's just not right at all. Please Help me get this resolved.

Delivery of memorial (tombstone) to the site has not been completed after complete payment.
Repeated calls to company for many weeks receive only voice mail and no call backs.

I entered into a contract on 4/25/18 to get a memorial put into the cemetery for my husband. It was put on the contract that it would be installed by September 2018. I kept calling and getting different installment periods. The last phone call I got stated that installation was scheduled for the end of August 2019. I sent them a letter in September stating that if it wasn't installed by October 15, 2019 I would contact the Revdex.com. I have heard nothing and keep getting the run around on the phone. They apparently changed their name to the Memorial Company, ***. It has been a year and a half.

On 6/29/18 Greg from *** (phone ***) came to my home telling me he represented Gulph Christian Cemetery and sold me a headstone for my husband's grave. The contract promised delivery fall or winter of 2018. I paid the full cost of $4,036.00 at that time. Time passed and no headstone, then on February 15, 2019, 1843 Alessi Memorials sent a memo asking for a check of $305.00 for cemetery charges, payable to Gulph Christian Cemetery which I sent to their Main office, ***. On March 22, 2019 I received a letter from Memorial Company, *** to update me on the status of my order and that they were working throughout the winter season and I would receive a courtesy call the day the memorial was installed at the cemetery. I've been calling and leaving voice mails daily as no one ever picks up the phone. Greg returned a call on 9/16/19 and said he would check on status and get back to me in next 2 days. I continued to leave a voice mail every day at their office. On 9/22/19 Greg left a message on my home phone to call his office for an update. I have called every day and have not received a call back. I have asked for delivery of the headstone or my money back. When Greg came to my home he presented himself as a caring and concerned family man, deeply sorry for my loss. It appears that this company takes advantage of people at their most vulnerable time, when they are grieving the loss of a loved one.
I would like the headstone installed as it has been over 15+ months since I paid for it or my money refunded so I can get one elsewhere. My husband and family deserve to have the headstone placed on his grave. Please help!!

On July, 21, 2018, we ordered engraving for my brother's name to be added to the family grave stone at ***. His name still has not been added. I have been calling Gallagher Memorial and leaving messages and no one is responding.

On 5/14/2018 I signed a contact for the raising, cleaning and engraving of a cemetery stone with 1843 Memorials. The work was never completed. On 7/23/2018 I was informed by Greg S that the work would be completed in the fall of 2018. I have since moved and when I visited by parents' grave the stone has still not been raised, cleaned or engraved. Lee from Arlington Cemetery advised me that there was no reason to clean or raise the stone. The check I gave to Mr. S was for $1,045.50. It was immediately cashed. I have called numerous times to no avail. I have not spoken to Mr. S since last July. This company still resides at the same address but is now known as LifeStone by Stefan ***. *** has done a scam report on this company. Any help you can give me in getting my money back, would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a tombstone in January of 2019 for $3000. We paid in full. The company agreed to have the tombstone ready late spring/early summer of 2019. In March 2019 I was told that the foundation was ready at the grave site and they just needed to complete the actual tombstone. Over the course of several months I have called this company numerous times and no ever answers the phone or calls us back. We have visited the office several times as well and they just keep giving us a new completion date. It has been almost a year since we paid and 6 months since the ground work has been ready. This company is a scam. They took our money and have not delivered the tombstone and we cannot get in contact with them.

My sister passed away November 2018. I received a call from a Jeff. He told me that he work with Our Lady of Grace cemetery. He explained that his company could do the engraving on my sisters stone. He actually sent me a picture of what it looked like. I had to pay 60.00 to Our Lady of Grace Cemetery and to pay the engraving in full. I did pay. As of today no engraving has been done. I have repeatedly called and the women that answers takes my name and contract # and says someone will get back to me. I also e-mailed them and have not heard back from them on this either. I just want my money back. What do I need to do to accomplices this. Please help

I paid for my grandmothers stone over a year ago. It still hasn't been placed at her grave site. I have called the business multiple times and they do not call me back. A manager did email me but was very rude about it and assured that someone would call me. They did not. The last person I spoke to actually persisted in me contacting Revdex.com. I did ask for my money refunded and they still gave me a hard time. This is not how you conduct business especially with someone's loved one.

In Jan, 2019, I contacted and gave this company 3,000. For my husbands cemetary tombstone and to clean my mothers tombstone also. I have recalled repeatedly and to date cannot get a date when the tombstone will be delivered. I have made repeated attempts to contact them. It should not take 9 months to get a headstone. I should have never paid the full amount in advance.

I paid for a headstone for my parents as of January 2018 and the stone has yet to be placed. I was told 'by the end of the month' a few times and still no stone

My mother passed away in December 2017. We met with Gallagher Memorials, *** Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19050 in January 2018 to make arrangements to have an existing headstone cleaned and my mother's name and dates engraved on the tombstone. We paid in full by check ($1619.00) on January 26, 2018 and were told that the work would be completed within 6 to 8 months as there were delays due to staffing and weather. It has now been over 18 months and none of the work has been completed despite multiple calls to the business. They last contacted us to assure the work would be done in the spring, but no work was completed.

In July 2018, I paid *** in full to engrave my mother's headstone at *** Cemetery in Yeadon, PA. They led me to believe they worked for the cemetery. I was told it would be complete by the Fall of 2018. As of August 1, 2019 the stone has not be engraved and no one has returned any of my phone calls. The number is .

In late 2014 I entered into a contract with Lifestone by Stefan to perform an engraving on my Father's tombstone. I had paid an amount totaling $1486.00. However, as of June 2019 the work had not been done. Over the time frame of 2015 through 2019 I had repeatedly attempted to contact Lifestone by Stefan through both e-mail and there answering service (i.e. the only phone number available), but the last response I received from George S in 2016 was that the engraving will be performed in a couple of weeks.

Note that I have not lived in Pennsylvania for a long time, and I have not been able to visit the cemetery where my Father resides since 2014.

In June 2019 a family member visited my Father's grave and found that his name had never been engraved. Horrified, he paid for the engravement directly through the cemetery. The work has now been completed (in less than a month's time).

My father passed away August 14th, 2018. August 28th, 2018 a man came to my mother's house and talked about a headstone for my father. Well 10 months later and no headstone. My mother paid in full for the headstone. I called the company and talked to a woman named Marcella who said she would talk to this person and get back to me. Well no call received about this matter. I am helping my mother to get this straightend out . My father deserves more than this problem. He is a human being also. It was promised for Christmas 2018 and nothing. It really hurts us that someone would do something like this. I feel we were scammed.

I was contacted by a gentleman representing 1843 Memorials LLC on 12/16/2018 advising me that they could complete the inscription on my sister's (*** who passed away on July 13, 2018) grave stone. He mentioned he was affiliated with *** on ***, Quakertown, PA. which has been closed for almost a year now. He came to my home on 12/17/2018 where I signed a contract and gave him a check for $ 665.00 to complete the job. Last month(May), I received a phone call from the funeral home stating that the inscription had been completed and I owed they had a bill for me. I informed the funeral home that I had already paid the company- they in turn informed me that it was a scam and they did not contract 1843 Memorials to do the job. The funeral home and myself have numerous times called the phone number add left numerous voice messages but have not received any reply back. After checking further, I understand that the State Attorney General's office has legal action and a lawsuit against them for failure honor contracts and failure to do work.

My father passed away in October 2018. On December 18th I paid for his headstone in full ($1325). I forwarded a check to cover cemetery costs of $336.00 in March as it took me some time to save up the money. They then told me the stone would not be done until the Fall. I then received a letter from them that the cemetery sent back my check because they needed another $200 to place the stone. I don't understand why that check was not included in the letter as well. I am uncomfortable that they are holding onto the check. I have been trying to contact them about this issue and can't get Greg to return my calls. I've called twice and about a week later I get someone who returns my call to ask "has anyone returned my call" but this person is not in a position to help me, she just says that she will leave a message for Greg to get back to me...and he never does. I am at the point that I want to cancel my order and get my money back...especially since the stone won't be done until fall anyway. This is a horrible thing to have to deal with after you lose a loved one. Seems like this company is preying on the emotions of the situation and taking advantage of people.

1843 memorials, Jerry, came to my home and took advantage of me after my wife passed.A predatory sale where I thought he was sent by our funeral home directors.He insisted on a down payment for a stone, where $1000.00 was given. After talking with our funeral home directors, we found that they were not sent from them. We have called every number that is on the bill and online and no one returns the calls. they seem to go by different aliases, ***,***,n***,***..I have been calling everyday for a refund check and no one returns the calls.A women answers sometimes and states she will give the info to call back, still waiting.The cemetery,Arlington,told us that 1843 Memorials were not allowed in their cemetery until all the stones that they owe to people are finalized.We are asking for our down payment of $1000.

This business is not reliable at all. I should have checked them out before signing with them for my husband's headstone. Greg S, Jr. came to my home last April and I signed a contract for the headstone (which was very expensive). To date I have not gotten the headstone in place at the cemetary. I keep getting promises of delivery, but then nothing happens. At the point, I just want my money back so that I can go elsewhere.
