Not the right place for us
After just one visit I am unsure if I ever want to go back. I took my 16 year old there just for someone to talk to an help with a few panicking issues she was having over some scary medical problems and we were assigned an older lady counselor that never smiled not once and almost herself seemed to be in a weird funk or depression. A 16 year old doesn’t want to express feelings to a senior citizen aged counselor. In the first visit we are immediately asked questioned about symptoms then the says after 15-20 minutes ok. I have to enter a diagnosis. Hmm ok so I’ll put panic disorder and depression….Unless you’re going to want to join the military. Then I have to change that so you can get in. So you asked my child ten minutes of questions and now you just know she has panic disorder and Depression? She has chest pains and dizziness that scares her. That’s not panic disorder. How can you put a legal diagnosis on someone that can follow them for life on paper when you haven’t even gotten to know my child yet? This place was just wild. Then send her home with two pages of homework. She doesn’t need to fill out a feelings chart. She wants someone younger and happy she can talk to and laugh with a little. Not mopey grandma and paperwork.

If you are trans, don’t go here. Or just don’t go here at all
Receptionists have no respect for clients, as several reviews here state. As a trans person, an important part of my care is recieving gender-affirming care at my mental health facilities. If that is something that is important to you, don’t come here. The providers are dismissive (at least, Kalkstein is) and the receptionists are even worse. I have had a legal name change for three years, yet this office refuses to change my information every time we request it. Filled with transphobic people who should be working anywhere but a health facility.

It’s ok that they believe gender dismorphia is a problem and not a good thing you need help with. That’s not phobia. That’s then trying to help you be accepting of who you were born as.
