extension kit is an option and most of the time it is not needed and is an added expense. The heat from the exhaust keeps the pipe clear. Last year was an unusual year and we had ice build up more than usual. I had several calls from people with the same problem with units that I had not put in and units with extension kits on them. I told her I could put an extension kit in and that it would cost $150 for labor and the kit was about $200 and she said OK. She never said that she wanted it free. Also, when I was finished she looked at it and said it was not as bad looking as she thought it was going to be. I try not to use extensions because you can see them on the wall on the inside. Some people don't want to look at them showing. They are usually hidden behind the unit. When I was done I asked her if she wanted a receipt and I said if I did not give her areceipt I would include the tax in the price. I have to declare the money whether I give a receipt or not. I claim the check on IRS and sales tax reports because it was paid to a company and must be deposited in my business account.I was never rude to her or unprofessional. 1 did my work as I always do in a neat and efficient way. She wanted me to leave the remainder of the kit. I said that 1 used the kit and also I had in the box extra material that I had brought that was not in the kit in case I needed something else and tools I use to do the job. I used the box to carry them out in. There was no more discussion about it. As far as asking her about the work in her other garage, I was just curious as to why she didn't ask the other contractor that had done her work before. She said that he was too busy for small jobs. That was all that was said. I have never received a call from her that she had any problem with the work or a problem with the price I had quoted her. She knew the price of the job before I started. She had my name and number and could have called to discuss this. I have never had a problem with my customers. If they called me after work was done for whatever reason, we worked it out. As a settlement I would refund the $150 charge for labor, not because of anything I did wrong, but to foster goodwill. The extension kit was an additional kit not one that replaced the old kit already installed. The retail price is $250. She was charged less than the retail price.
