The Monterey Apartments

Review: In late October I secured a reservation on an apartment unit with The Monterey Apartments. This was done by paying a deposit ($250) and application fee ($31) in which my debit card was charged for on 10/29/13. My application for housing was received on 11/05/13, after submitting it several times on and between 11/02/13-11/04/13. Later on that day of 11/05/13, I received an email from The Monterey Apartments stating that "per the background check you were declined acceptance to live at The Monterey Apartments" and to contact [redacted] regarding their decision. I obtained a copy of the report on 11/12/13. As it turned out, [redacted] provided inaccurate information about me to The Monterey Apartments. The information they provided was on a [redacted] whom had several misdemeanor and felony convictions. Additionally the report shows that this person has not only a different name, but they should have been able to distinguish the difference in the Social Security Numbers displayed in their report. The information provided by [redacted] not only prohibited from securing housing, but also delayed relocation process from Florida to Maryland to start my new job on time. Resulting in me having to secure temporary housing on short notice that cost me almost triple the rent ($3,700+) compared to what I would have paid on the unit that reserved at The Monterey Apartments. I also, tried reaching out to The Monterey Apartments explaining to them the situation and that they received inaccurate information. Unfortunately, I received poor to no assistance from The Monterey Apartments after three attempts to come to a solution.Desired Settlement: As such, I am seeking reimbursement of the expenses I've incurred. Including but not limited to application fees, additional lodging and travel expenses, and any other inconveniences the parties involved brought about the inaccurate/erroneous information provided.
