I bought a 2010 Ford Escape from motor zone a little less the a year ago. Total price of the car was around 10k for a car with 100,000 miles on it. When I bought the car it had a huge stain. On the ceiling and I was told “it had a previous roof leak that’s fixed now” had a dent on the back of the car and was told no accidents. Was also told that it went through an extensive mechanical and safety check. First rain I had water coming into the car from around the sun roof and from the lights on the ceiling. About a month into the car breaks failed while driving and almost got into an accident with my son in the car. Brought the car to joes and was told it was the master cylinder. Car drove fine for a couple weeks and go over a bump and it happens again. This time I’m told it’s the abs pump and needs a battery, and the check engine light is on for a O2 sensor. Joes has the car for over a week. After paying a $100.00 deductible get the car back and everything seems fine. Did my own looking into of the previous history On the car and I found that the car had frame issues and was fully repainted. Brought my findings to the dealers attention and it was brushed under the rug. Drive a little and the abs light comes on. Send it to joes again and get it back not fixed. Try to find out what’s going on with repairing the car and I get told that the manger is on vacation. Last I heard anything on it from joes was March 11, 2020. Since I got the car I only put 6-7k miles on it. I try to send the car back to dealer since the car is unsafe with the breaking system continuously having issues. I get told that if I send it back that I’m still responsible for the remaining 8k left on the car. And that if I don’t pay it they will garnish wages. And I would have to pay a fee of $175 to have it towed to them. Manager calls me and asks what’s going on and I explain it. I get told it’s a used car stuff happens. They can’t afford to send the car to “real” mechanics because of cost. There best solution is to send it back to joes or another mechanic. Get a call from joe and I’m told that it needs a new hub and wheel sensor and it’s not covered. And that I would have to pay full price for the repair and that I should talk to the finance part of the dealer to figure something out.

Sorry to hear what you are going through. Upon looking at the recon on the vehicle we did not know there was anything wrong with the sunroof leaking. I would not know why someone would tell you that we fixed it already. You purchased the vehicle on 5/21/2019 you were given a car fax that showed the history and the accidents of the vehicle that you signed. Looks like almost 3 months later the master cylinder on the break went out that was covered under your warranty. Then on 1/21/20 we replaced your battery and 3 sensors I am not sure why this was placed under warranty repair since the warranty expired on 11/21/19 however John Br still covered those items for you. Now you said that the hub and wheel sensor are bad. Those are maintance items that were not covered under the warranty if it was still active. To give you some piece of mind we will give you an additional warranty for 6 months/ or 6000 miles which ever come first. Please let us know how you would like to go forward.Thank you

When I purchased this vehicle , I was assured that this car would be upholding and reliable. time after time, month after month I was putting out money into this vehicle due to the fact that certain things were not covered with the warranty and even extended warranty. We were given the run around by not only the mechanic that was working on the vehicle, but Motor Zone as well. They kept telling me that they weren't sure who was responsible for certain things being repaired on the vehicle, whether it was myself or the dealer. this went on for about a year (I have the receipts to prove how many times this vehicle was brought into the mechanic shop). This became an issue because the mechanic decided not to work with this dealer anymore, due to the fact that the dealer was not fixing the vehicles properly due to the cost. Finally, we got a call regarding the car saying that it needed a new engine (from another mechanic the dealer moved the vehicle to, without my consent or knowledge). Days later, I found out that the dealer does not want to put a new engine in the vehicle (it was too costly) and the vehicle was "being paid off". two weeks later I went to empty my belongings from the vehicle, (since it was no longer in my name), to find out that it was not at the mechanic's. Now I have no idea where the vehicle is located with my belongins. When I called Motor Zone to find out where the vehicle was located they told me they had no idea and the General Manager John, (who I was speaking with regarding the vehicle the entire duration of this situation), acted liked he knew nothing about the vehicle. His reponse was "I didn't know there was a problem".

My Husband and I purchased a vehicle from motor zone 2 years ago. Sadly it was our second purchase from them. Over the years we have not missed one payment. Faithfully paying $400 a month for a 2005 Dodge stratus with 108,000+ that was in the shop way more than it was on the road. So much so that we often took ubers or lyft to get back and forth to work. We came to a point that we needed to know if we had a option to trade the car in. We were told by Amanda we were not eligible for a trade in EVEN though we have some serious problems with this vehicle. I.E engine knocking, Oil leaking, stalling you name it.
My husband and I went on vacation a couple weeks after my phone call with Amanda regarding the trade in. Prior to our return our car was not in front of our home. With motor zone as shady as they can be we did not think twice that they came and got the car; even with no missed payment. Sad to say we were slightly relieved because of this terrible upside down loan to be rid of the vehicle. The following morning we received a phone call from Amanda. She called regarding the current payment. We informed her that we assumed Motor Zone/ South Jersey Financial came to pick it up. Amanda stated no. She then activated the GPS and stated it was on a street in our neighborhood. The shock of this took us aback that the car was stolen while on vacation. Amanda then had the nerve to ask if we knew the people and house the vehicle was in front of (????) I stated of course not! Mind you our current address is in Camden, NJ... I wonder why she asked such a question (hmmmm)
She then stated she needed us to call the police. I stated of course as we were walking out the door. In the midst of finding out all of this info she still asked us about the current payment. I stated to her I do not know what condition the car is in at the moment and I need to deal with this issue as of now. She stated for us to call when the police arrive so she can speak with them. After hours of waiting for the police I called Motor Zone so Amanda can speak with the officer. She refused her only concern was the payment. I informed her we were voluntarily giving up the vehicle. Amanda proceeded to threaten us with consequences instead of talking to the officer as she requested. I informed her that I wish to no longer speak with her via phone and all correspondence should be via email from now on for accuracy purposes. We asked motor zone to pick up the vehicle. We were told no it was our responsibility.
We stated fine and proceeded to get the car towed via our warranty company. When we called to make arrangements we were told by the warranty company that they could not process our request and for us to speak with the provider Motor Zone.
We immediately contacted motor zone and informed Amanda. There should have been no reason why our warranty was not valid. When we inquired about our warranty policy Amanda stated it should still be valid but did not give us any other further info. Amanda even emailed me and stated that her manager informed her that the location possibly is the reason that the tow was not processed(????)
In the many many many times the car has been towed the location has never been an issue. We believe they lied to us from the beginning about the length of the warranty and it was void with out our knowledge. We had not reached the mileage for the car to not be covered. I was emailed again regarding the police report. I made sure I faxed over the police report that she do adamantly needed. I was then emailed by another rep stating she was covering while Amanda was out and still questioned if my husband and I were getting the car towed to motor zone. I asked her to make sure she looks for the police report addressed to Amanda and as far as the car being towed we would try at best. I have not heard from or received any info about the warranty or about motor zone coming to get the vehicle. Its a sad situation that has put our family in a tough financial situation. The vehicle was so bad the thief's only made it 2 blocks away and had no choice but to park it. Beware of these people. Like someone mentioned before they prey on the weak those of us that need a vehicle to make ends meet and talk down to you when you have any questions after signing on the dotted line.

I purchased a car from this company, the car is over priced and had problems with it ever since I drove it off the lot. i've called multiple times to ask if they can switch me into another car which they refused to do. I called the dealership to ask if I left my key at my job would they be able to come and get it and they told me no. i've taken off of work to try and take it to the mechanic but they are either booked or understaffed. i've even called the dealership to ask if I can take it to the other mechanic that they deal with and they told me no. yesterday I was driving my car on I-95 and it starts shaking then the check engine light came on I then pulled over to call the dealership to inform them about another problem with the car he then told me that they can have a tow truck come out and get the car but they didnt know how me and my 2 year old son was going to get home. I then ask for a replacement car until my car was fixed and they told me that "they didn't do that." this company has given me the run around and I make my payments on time every friday.
